I truly appreciate your dedication to filming the FDNY with how cold it's been. Thank you awesome and very informative video Two firefighters suffered minor injuries in the fire, the FDNY said.
John this one reminds me of that e-bike fire in that restaurant a couple years ago. They element under control and you guys were half way home when the whole building lit off and you had to go back. This one looks more like a game of wack-a-mole. Excellent video John.
Not surprised units are coming in from all over. When there’s a brother down or missing everyone shows up to help whether they’ve been called or not. I am praying the firefighter is okay. ❤ My husband was a firefighter so I know that fear.
Thanks for the great video. JJ! FDNY doing gruelling work fighting a stubborn fire freezing weather conditions! And JJ filming in freezing conditions! There was no word on the down Fire Fighter--pray that he/she is OK.
Awesome video JJ. The brothers had a lot going on, but as always, they got the job done. Hearing a brother is lost or trapped is probably the last thing anyone wants to hear over the radio. Hope they're doing okay. Thanks again for a great video. In memory of Black Sunday, 20 years ago today.
Another close up, closer than ever, video mate, thank you, cannot help to feel for those guys who got soaked going in the building and coming out, and having to stand in the freezing cold, Thank you for the video, and for getting frozen for us, noticed Cheif Moor showed up.. stay safe mate and keep warm, hope the injured member was ok
Great coverage my especially with the spare Rescue arriving I didn’t know all of the rescues were on the box vey complex situation 2N2 my brother 1:03:13
This is a converted loft building. There are many of these structures throughout the City, the majority are located in SOHO AND Tribeca sections of materials. Due to the construction and open spaces fire can and will spread very quickly if not contained or controlled quickly. The ceilings are taller than modern constructed. There have been many fatalities to civilians and fire fighters in the past. These buildings have showrooms on the first and/or second floors. The remaining floors were used for manufacturing or stock. Good fire stop and overhaul by FDNY. Keep up the great work and keep warm and hydrated. Joe
I too love watching FF of”Brigades’(?spelling)=USA FF Fire Department.Past couple of years I have tried finding Equivalent FF internationally. This is a tribute to all the international FF iI saw walking/running in full 50+lb equipment in “Tunnel To Towers”.To see them rigged up with their nation’s flag in support of a fallen brother was soul stirring. Do you &your grandson have any recommendations?Happy Holiday&(safe)2025;Greetings from Connecticut.
I've seen German and Japanese fire departments on UA-cam. I'm not sure if you can find them by searching in English, but that's the first thing I'd try. It's possible that UA-cam's algorithm recommended them to me. If you can't find them, look up the German word for "fire" and search for it here. 🤷
Great video John ! What a horrible fire , I saw members rolling up hose right before the firemen emergency message off . The fire must have hit something very combustible for things to escalate that fast .
In your video i seemed to see a section of lath, used in lath and plaster walls. That hadn't been widely used since the 1950's I believe. The FDNY works continuously it seems, and a fire reignighting has to be horrible for them. I haven't heard anything new on the missing/down member, so I am presuming that they have been found. This cold weather has to be very hard to fight fires in. I was wondering, does the water in the hoses that had water in them but are not flowing at the moment, Does any of that water freeze? Just a random thought. FDNY remains the best. All personnel, EMT's as well. God bless eberyone. Keep those fingers, toes and ears warm, John.
The hoses are made of rubber impregnated fabric so they don't conduct heat as well as cast iron. I imagine they'd freeze eventually but over the couple hours of an incident probably not. And a quick way to keep the hoses from freezing, crack the nozzle a little so it trickles water constantly. That's an old trick in freezing climates, if water's flowing, even slightly, pipes don't freeze. Anecdotal example: I was RVing late in the fall and overnight my water line started to freeze. Not quite frozen but the line was slushy and crackly. I cracked open a tap in the RV and very quickly the ice in the hose melted and cleared out. The remaining nights I was at that site, kept the tap cracked at night and despite the temps getting even lower, lines never froze, not even partially.
Hi JJ glad to hear you have gloves I hope they r on your fingers Thank you for braving the cold for us You are the best Is the injured ff going to be ok ? --- Debbie
Hi John, do you use those little hand warmers that go inside your gloves. I always worry that you'll end up with frostbite in those New York winters. You guys make us in the UK look like wimps. Our whole country shuts down if there's as much as 2 inches of snow on the ground. 😅. Stay safe and warm John.

We don't get enough to justify the use of snow tyres or chains so our roads become full of abandoned cars. 😂 You have a blessed 2025 and keep watching our friend John. 🤗

Looks like from the same firehouse Engine 7/Ladder 1/Battalion 1 first into the North Tower during 9-11, looks quite challenging to keep the hydrants going in freezing conditions.
Tuesday night in Central New York State the had a horrible fire involving4-5 businesses in the brutal weather conditions. There is nothing left. Pretty much leveled the whole block.
Those hand warmers work great especially when used in mittens. You can get mittens that open up to allow for use of your fingers if needed. If money is not a concern those rechargeable heated gloves are also great.
Hey J how did E21 end up at that fire?? They are on 40St. And L-23 is in West Harlem?? Seemed like a lot of confusion. Those old lofts are tough fires. Get warm
One thing that mKes me mad about NYFD. The don't use their SCBA! Everyone coming out of that building should have it on and everyone standing outside should also. You would think they would enforce that to reduce lung disease in their members. I know at my local VFD anyone working a fire has SCBA on.
Sounds like chaos and lots of yelling. Yo where are you?? So many young guys in lower Manhattan now. Seniority is gone. Lower Manhattan shuts down at night but then this happens. Always train and be ready. Standpipe building. Hook up to the siamese and be ready if it go up to the top floor!!!
