  • Lyman Frank Baum (May 15, 1856 - May 6, 1919) was an American author best known for his children's books, particularly The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and its sequels. He wrote 14 novels in the Oz series, plus 41 other novels (not including four lost, unpublished novels), 83 short stories, over 200 poems, and at least 42 scripts. He made numerous attempts to bring his works to the stage and screen; the 1939 adaptation of the first Oz book became a landmark of 20th-century cinema.

I often use The Wizard of Oz (movie version) as an example of a perfect story.

Such societal transformation from a family based society in the first half of the 20th century to its opposite in the second half after legal abortion made divorce popular, resulting in a large proportion of children growing up in single mother households.

Not the only component, but it helped the wife prefer to be provided for by the state collecting from the husband without the burden on her of having him around.

@@edwardm1326 More often it was the women, encouraged by magazines articles, to declare that they simply weren't feeling it anymore, once they found out that the state would provide for them after they kicked their dull husbands out of the house he continued to pay the mortgage of. More briefly, women were encouraged to marry the state instead.
