RM doesn’t have a preference for English, but bc he speaks so well it is often required/expected of him to address a western audience in English.
At the end part of V’s speech the little hand gesture he made with both hands is sign language for clapping!

It is not that RM likes to speak in English more but because this was organized for the Class Graduates of 2020 invited by Mr & Mrs Obama. It’s a western created event and hence RM with his ability to speak English more fluently is representing on behalf of BTS to speak in English.

that was not confirmed, it was assumed because of what Beyonce said about being invited. UA-cam I know played a part in asking.

That's awesome! We want to see our president, RM, meet President Obama. Two world leaders together. Remember, RM was inspired to write "Mic Drop" from Barack Obama's 'Mic Drop" speech. RM is just an awesome person. When the world has been going to the brink, when I was becoming numb, BTS sparked the fire of life and made me glad to be alive to witness their struggle and fight to become a great success today together with ARMY. 💜🎶😊👍
RM adjusts to the situation. He is fluent in Japanese, English and Korean. Keep in mind this was an American broadcast, so he spoke English. But, BTS preferred language is their own, Korean.
RM is the only one who knows english this good . He taught himself english by watching “FRIENDS “ .

This speech touched me a lot . I'm graduating this year and heading off to university but they've reassured me to not worry if I don't do well. 🥺
Since he’s the only one that speaks English it’s expected of him to when they’re doing things intended for outside of Korea. Even though he’s obviously fluent he still speaks Korean in his daily life so he doesn’t have a preference for English.
For me,Jin's message was the most relatable and motivational🙏.....his lines"Go at your own pace" and "take out extra time for yourself" touched me.....his speech resonated me the most.....Jin is such an eloquent and articulate speaker....so wise💎
I loved Jin's message. His superpower is perseverence and hard work. You don't need to be a super-talented genius in order to succeed if you're willing to work harder than everyone else.

RM's English is better than a lot of native English speakers because thos of us who speak English just learn it based on the people around us. What's interesting is that he learned it from watching American television shows, mostly "Friends"
RM’s speech got me thinking of my graduation & how I complained about it but looking back it was a nice party even tho it wasn’t what I wanted but at least I got to celebrate it with my family❤️ Also yes he’s very handsome & manly lol I wish he had a sleeve tho like that would be so sexy on him😍😅😁

Today I am so PROUD of BTS and so PROUD to be a BTS fan. BTS uses their platform to inspire & excite. They have become world super stars but they also use their platform to talk about learning to Love Our Selves and to Speak our Selves. They don't set on the sidelines while Covid is decimating many states, while states continue to open. Silently, BTS gave 1 MILLION Dollars to BLACK LIVES MATTER. STEALTH! They didn't tell anyone they were giving the money, if it wasn't for a nosey reporter, we would have never found out they gave so much. BTS ARMY being so taken by the GIFT, decided to match the 1 million dollar goal. The ARMY got to work and within 24 hours the BTS ARMY had done the impossible. They had raised/matched the 1 million dollars. In the name of BTS & the BTS we humbly give BLACK LIVES MATTER, $2 MILLION $$. I Love BTS & I love BTS ARMY
Dear Class of 2020 is for graduates all over the world so obviously they organized it and used English since English is a universal language.
just so you know, Jin currently is doing his master and the rest of the 6 members are pursuing their education on degree level as well. if BTS can advance their education and enhance their self-development despite of the busy schedule as superstars, why can't we ? :)
I graduated last year, and I didn’t exactly take my time. I was pressured indirectly by my family and friends to get a job once I graduated college.
One of my friends got a job immediately after we graduated and soon everyone else did too. I felt like I was being left behind so I took a job as well. In the end, I enjoyed it but that was just that. I didn’t feel at all fulfilled. It wasn’t what I wanted to do with my life.
I quit my jobs just a week ago and began contemplating again. Their commencement speech reassured me that this is okay. That I can take my time and think about everything before diving back in.
They were invited to participate in this global commencement event by President and Mrs. Obama as both commencement speakers and performers. It is an incredible honor and shows how influential Bangtan Sonyeondon is world wide. They were also given the finale performance over other global superstar artists like Beyonce and Lady Gaga. Their words and song choices were perfect for this unprecedented celebration.
Suga actually has been through a lot. He grew up in poverty and he has talked about days when he couldn't afford to take the bus and eat after school, and had to pick one. He also deals with depression and used to be suicidal when he was younger. He has some songs about that (Listen to "The Last" from the first Agust D mixtape). And he has a friend in jail on drug charges, somebody that used to be real close to him who tried to get him involved too. He has been through way too much to say he's only 27 now.

I see that you are a solo stan. There is no proof to substantiate that taehyung is most loved or most hated or is realest or is the best at everything. Your descriptions of him makes him to be some rebel child, are really over the top, that is not Tae because Tae is a very very humble person & lately he has mellowed & gotten quieter. Those kinda comments are also very divisive & thumbs the other members down. Just that tae's fans are mostly international females, "on the ball", visible & vocal. They will be voting for him at everything, or be streaming his videos & songs. I give you an example: When jimin's fancam grew organically to be the first to hit 100 mil views, tae's solo stans became upset & started reporting Jimin's video & started streaming Tae's fancam to beat Jimin's fancam. Duh. Suga & RM have more male stans but they keeps themselves more lowkey & quiet. That doesn't mean they aren't popular. Just look at how well Suga's mixtapes are doing. Jimin has both male & female fans & comparatively less loud than Tae's fans. Jimin's filter is the most successful solo song from "mots:7" & he is very popular in Korea that is why he tops the Brand Rep Index continuously since 2019 & been voted most popular idol 2 years in a row. Taehyung is an amazing individual, very talented, one of the humblest idol, drop dead gorgeous, has a lot of achievements, but i think he will laugh if he reads your description of him; which JK stans will insist its about JK - who is it who have gotten tattoos, gotten into controversy the most & has the rep for being good at everything. Haha. BTW if you think that I am hating Tae, no. I am an OT7 (i love all 7 not just 1 person) although admittedly Tae is my bias. Jimin is my bias wrecker. I have both of them on my mobile screen wallpaper 🙂.

RM only speaks English when he has to communicate with English speakers, like a western audience or with an English speaking interviewer. But he speaks Korean in his daily life. He only uses English for stuff like this. And because he's the band leader and the only one that is fluent in English it makes sense.

New sub ... digging your dive into K-music. It's so much more that what western audiences know as "pop" ... almost all idol groups (and bands) have a rapper, hip/hop or r&b influence. There definitely are "pop" songs but even those with their high level production, style, and choreo are impressive. If you like a more r&b sound you can check out NCT U "7th sense" and even some girl groups/artists have amazing skills (G-Idle "Lion" is a 4th generation group whose 20 yr old leader writes all their songs, has a unique tone to her rapping, and composes/produces). Welcome to the rabbit hole! .... (For reference the 1st group recognized as bringing Western sounds into korean music was in early 90s. So it's been a minute. Looking forward to your journey!)
