Just bought mine a week and a half ago (Hyper Blue!) and so far I absolutely love it. The fit and finish is better than I expected (I'm coming from a Bmw coupe) and the power that everyone seems to think is sub-par is fine. It's not a sports car after all. I'm hoping for snow this winter so I can see if it lives up to the hype (I suspect it will). Overall a fantastic vehicle for the price. Well done Subaru.
CVT. I live in Vancouver which is ridiculously congested, so I went auto. I'm on 3 months now and it's been rock solid. We had a rare winter this year, so I got to play with her in the snow. It wasn't even challenging for her! She just goes through everything without complaint. The gas mileage hasn't been quite as good as I'd hoped, but I am in stop and go traffic 90% of the time, and the engine isn't fully broken in yet, so I expect that to improve. Don't get me wrong, it's still great on gas. Couldn't be happier so far.
Just got my second Crosstrek. I was nearing the end of my least on a 2014 Crosstrek, and the dealer bought mine out, and I got into a 2016 Crosstrek Limited in Hyper Blue (same as this video). Love the Crosstrek.
What's the deal with the oil consumption problem I heard about? I've delayed my purchase for another couple of months. I was told by my dealer that the issue was only in the early 2013-14 models. Since you owned one I'd like to hear your opinion on the matter. Thanks in advance.
Steven A. Button If they all consumed oil, it was likely the oil you chose. Mobil 1, Supertech, etc. are known to burn and cause burning issues in Subarus. Mobil 1 and Castrol burned in both of mine. I switched to Rotella and have no burning issues. Headgasket issue was solved nearly 20 years ago when the 251/253 was released. They rarely have headgasket issues.
Great review! I got mine in mid-august and I love it. I also have the sport model but with CVT. This car drives in the snow like it's on dry pavement!! Tried it in 7 inches of snow and it was incredible! It is actually much better on gas mileage than my previous AWD which was a Suzuki SX4, that one was sipping gas like it had a V8! Also, the SX4 had a reactive AWD which was very tricky!
throw some winter tires on this thing and it does not move from the road. people sliding all over the places, and the only sliding I do is controlled drifts. this thing is an absolute dream, I drive a truck for work and my Subaru is 100% better in the snow.
Finally, a decent review for the vehicle that it is. Though I do not totally agree with many of the cons it's a fresh look at what this vehicle was designed to do. People seem to always want more. Need more power? Buy a sports car.
Overall good review, but, unless they have VASTLY added storage cubbies in the 2016 since the 2014 ( and I doubt it) the reality is, Crosstrek has little in the way of storage cubbies. Compare it to the many cubbies the 2001 Forester has both front and back. Not a deal breaker obviously, but an irritant.
+Nat Lovell 2016 owner here. I've never been in a 2014, but there isn't much storage space in the 2016. The OEM cargo net thing I installed for the trunk helped a little. In a survey I filled out after I bought it, I wrote the storage space is lacking.
I would call the Crosstrek perfect. Get rid of that stupid split screen, and integrate the information in the top tiny screen into the radio/nav screen so it is easier to see. Otherwise. Perfection from Subaru. Love this car.

thorandmoljnir Every Subaru I've owned: 99 Impreza L, 02 OBS, 06 & 08 Outbacks have consumed oil between changes. Furthermore, they haven't resolved the HG Issues either.

FCFordLord My wife's 08 2.5i Outback HG Leaked from the top. I used Amsoil Oils & they don't consume in my Hyundai.
