My dealer which is a Vexus dealer and USED to be a Ranger dealer for 39 years until Johnny Morris yanked their dealership from them because they took on Vexus !! They say the best Vexus aluminum is the 1980 for value and handling. They claim the 2080 grabs a lot more wind and gets pushed around more. Performance wise their suggestion is the 1980. Thank goodness I get my Ranger 620 pre Johnny ! The 620 is IMO the best multi species boat ever built.
Recommend guys looking at boats go buy a used glass this Winter when prices are lower. My b'law has a 2020 Z518C he bought during the summer and pays just shy of $450/mth for 15 years. I assure you, worth learning some wrenching skills to avoid that kind of payment a month!
Can't go wrong with a Vexus. I've been riding in them since they were released. Excellent built boat with full Vexus backing. Any issue(s), Vexus will go out of their way to make it right. They treat you like family
Have 2020 1980 with 150 an spot lock with 2 nice graphs with 6 inch Manuel jack plate an upgraded to dual axle trailer an steps, 39,500. Cons 1980 should be max rating of 200hp an 2080 should be max rating of 225! Where this boat shines is when the trolling motor is in the water. Tons of room ,fish 2 big guys up front all day. Some of the best storage in a boat of that size! Ranger 1980p maybe cheaper but you look like you’re riding an fishing in a flat bottom john boat, no where near the rear storage!
My first choice, but I fish tons of small lakes if I fished lake Cumberland, Ky lake those bigger lakes I would have pulled the trigger! I love that front deck an I loved the option for the jump seats which makes this boat the best all around boat to play , fish what ever! You will be completely happy with that big Lund!!
The 1980 is the buy. I’ve been in the market for aluminum over glass just due to the fact my local fishing is a lot of skinny back water and shallow dam areas. If I lived in a area with large reservoirs or draw downs there’s no question glass is the way to go. It’s shame the price tags are so close for what’s realistically less boat.
I agree they are expensive and hp rating is low, but they are great quality and have fantastic customer service from my experience. I believe they are the closest ride to a glass boat you will find. I have owned numerous boats (glass and aluminum) and in my opinion Vexus customer service is the best I have experienced. They are the real deal.

You can't put a bigger motor on it because the build strength isn't good enough. On a 20ft gatertrax you can put on a 250hp the pricing is probably around the same and it can be a suzuki 250ss. But but but with gatertrax it's custom and you can get it anyway you want and quality of a fiberglass. Again 250! Oh and plus you will have to call and talk to the owner to build one. If I remember you like that. Lol please call and do a gatertrax next. Tbh though only problem i have with this over under thing is going into more detail about quality. You need to watch a gatertrax build video before you do their over under. Not many tins do over 70mph but gatertrax does. Once my truck is payed off I think I'll be planning a trip to test drive one and I have a stratos 201xl now. I read down and seen someone mentioned warranty. Well gatertrax hull is lifetime. Does anyone else offer that?

Love your channel. Here in the PNW the aluminum boat has several advantages in my opinion. We have so many diverse bodies of water to fish or run. When I'm out fishing with my kid I can beach my aluminum hull w little to no worries. We can go swimming, beach comb/explore and BBQ and I'm not concerned about hull damage occurring as I would be on my fiberglass boat. Kids generally need a break from fishing so the above is needed for a short time. Then we can hop back in boat and go fish again. When I run on some of rivers the same goes. I've had both of my boats on a few different rivers. The pucker factor is higher w my fiberglass. The interior has NO wood. A must here in the PNW. Wood has a tendency to rot. I haven't had any lost time off the water replacing wood on my aluminum vs the time and upkeep I've lost on my fiberglass. I love all boats and being out on the water teaching the next generation to fish and about nature. The best boat is the one a person can afford. Being in education I can't afford any of those expensive boats. My boats have all been pre-owned and older. I go through them usually rewiring the whole boat then upgrading what I can afford. No big payment means more time on the water, I think we can agree that's where it's at. Tight lines and good times. Keep up the great work with your channel
Agree! Lots of good used boats out there. Not much has changed in bass boats in the last 20 years. Repower, new carpet and seats and you save yourself $40k, bankruptcy and a divorce!

Own the avx2080 and wouldn't change a thing total bill 56 Garmin 93 bow to console Closes runner up would be the xpress tin but the bow being like a fiberglass boat and the large fiberglass compartments sold me on the vexus
Just out of curiosity......How much would it cost to replace the transom, new gel coat, etc, etc, etc, repower, rebuild the trailer, new electronics and trolling motor on my 1996 CHAMP 202? Ok, I will just rebuild it. 72k for a tin can, dumb.
But it is a tin boat. You can polish a turd and make it shiny but it’s still a turd. I don’t doubt they ride like no other tin boat but For that kinda money there is zero reason to not go glass. I think Tin boats have a place but not for nearly $70,000. Here in Texas at least, you can get a brand new skeeter zx200 with power poles, hydraulic jack plate, graphs and 112lb ultrex for that or really close. That’s just one for instance. Also gotta factor in resale value. Tin boats and nitros are the worst when it comes to holding value.
@@TrippyWheelz The AVX2080 is in the neighborhood or $43,000. Don't know where you get 70 from. Glass boats can be polished turds too. One reason why I still have my 1986 Ranger and it still rides better than the ones I've been in glass wise, no I'm not saying all just the ones I've been in. My Skeeter 200zx, 1994, rides ok but won't beat the ride of my ranger. So what ever. I thought the same thing about all tin boats once until I tried it. Oh that 43k price is with an ultrex and two nines, live on the bow. So even with 12s it won't be 70k. The glass VX20 might start at that but not the avx 2080. Oh obviously I don't buy for resale.
@@darryladams519 you are talking about old boats and different models but ok, I won’t sit here and have a pillow fight with you. There is a reason the market prefers glass but go ahead and buy the coke can.

My question is how thick is the aluminum? Do they use foam? Do they use extruded aluminum bracing or make their own bracing out of cheap metal flat sheets? These are the questions and answers not addressed here.
Something is definitely not accurate with that price. I have a 2021 AVX2080 with a 112lb ultrex that they will add. I have lowrance TI2 on both bow and consol and I did have poles already. I payed 52k out the door. I love my Vexus. 200HP runs 66-67mph. You need to drive one as it rides nothing like an aluminum boat. It rides better than my buddies X21 Xpress.
@@TeamMarineService i just feel these videos do a disservice to boat sales if the prices are not realistic. I like your videos but your going to turn people off from checking out various boat manufacturers. Reach out to a dealer and have them price it to you and get an accurate price. If you give the dealer a shout out im sure they will work with you.
We understand where you're coming from, but let's hold the manufacturers a little more accountable for what's on their websites and for what they're producing. As for calling dealers we ran into the problem of big price discrepancies around the country for the same rig so we will continue to either go off of their websites or even better call them directly for pricing.
@@TeamMarineService i can understand that. I like the thought of calling the manufacturer directly. I really do like the comparison videos. I would like to see you demo the boats after your done with the price videos to see what value to the dollar you actually get.
All boats are overpriced. I'm friends with a guy that owns a major boat company. The only reason boats sell for what they do is because we are dumb enough to pay it. That's the only reason period. He says they keep going up and up and up and the dealers keep selling out. If we want affordable boats again we must stop buying them
@Team Marine Service I have a avx 1980 without poles. I have a atlas hydraulic jack plate and vector package. Out the door it was 41k. I installed all my own Garmin stuff. I think you guys duplicated some stuff, because all my buddies that have avx 2080 got theirs with poles for around 51k. Seriously... As far as under powered, I definitely agree. The AVX 1980 should have a 200, and the AVX 2080 should have a 225...period!
Wow, I’ve actually have seen one at the ramp and thought... if I ever buy a new one, might be one of those. I guess that wiring in my brain where I think “Tin Rig” I think “affordable” was dead wrong... Bet that dude I saw looked at my junky ol’ NAtro and thought... wonder what his boat payment is... I should get a personalized trailer plate the says (PAIDFOE)
I know you will probably do Xpress, Ranger, Crestliner, etc........could you please do Gator Trax and Havoc? Look at the gauge aluminum and what they say?
Want to know why it can only hold a 200? Straight from my rep at Vexus: Could not get them to pass the coast guard hull certification. same reason why the 1980s only get a 150 and the 1880s get a 115.
I agree and I will also say that the electronics are stupidly overpriced especially the Helix units for all the manual scrolling crap you have to do! Touch screen should be all they make anymore in my opinion but then the Solix processor is so friggin slow and freezes up so bad?!?! My new boat came pre rigged with 2 Helix 12’s 🤮 #ImissmyGarmins!!
Whole heartedly agree with your opinion. Not saying that's a bad boat, but that is way too much money for a tin rig. Don't forget to add the taxes and rigging, plus freight, lol.
You should look at a ranger 198p. They start at about 38000 and that's with just a 150. All bass boats are over priced. Its gotten to where you have to be super rich just to go tournament fishing and some what well off just to go fun fishing. Its ridiculous.
According to the internet (I say that so that you take this as "facts" that have come from the internet). The AVX 2080 is rated for a max 200 hp, thus why they wouldn't let you put a 225 on it. My question is this, the 2080 has a dry weight of 1800 lbs (obviously the more you add this goes up but for comparison sakes 1800lb). Power to weight ratio would be 1:9, sounds respectable. I wanted to compare to the vx 20 (or whatever their glass 20 footer was).... I can't find the dry weight, the engineer and racer in me would be very curious to see the comparison of a 200 tin to a 250 glass.
Just guessing based on bottom of hull design the glass boat has it by approx 10 mph. Tin rig has a flat bottom or very small pad and the glass rig is a more efficient running bottom.
I can get a BassCat Sabre FTD SP with all the accessories I want for $54000. Sorry...no brainer!!! Yes it's a 18 footer, but I want best bang for buck boat. Plus I think it's gonna fit in my garage.
1880 is where Vexus shines in the Tin market. I looked at the 1980 and 2080, really did not make financial sense going with either considering what you get for the money. My 1880 fishes great and I put some nice goodies on it for the price savings.
I was looking at the 1880 as well with a similar build you guys are doing and I think built at 46-48k. I’ve heard nothing but great things about vexus but I decided to with a Basscat Sabre. Nothing like a 18’1 glass boat with a 175 on it.

I got my 1880 just below 30k. No graphs or poles. Took them off my old boat that was in a accident in the interstate. With a ultrex. Had a couple some problems that they fixed. Hell I just called them to ask about the new rod tie down for the co angler on the 2021 models and they sent me the part.
Just curious, would a more fair assessment be just valuing the "base model w/standard features"? I'm guessing all options, especially major ones (graphs, poles, etc) would run close to the same from manufacturer to manufacturer with the exception of specific "packages" for each boat line. I definitely would include max hp with each base model...thoughts?? Great series....
Our approach from the first Over / Under was to build a rig that we would want and allow us to fish competitively. We understand where you are coming from but on the same hand we are not trying sugar coat any of this pricing. 👍🏻
You are spot on Charles and understand what we are trying to accomplish here. Literally everything in the industry has such a high mark up that everything is getting inflated!
@@TeamMarineService I appreciate what your doing. There is not a bit of outstanding innovation that they can claim. Even with all that is coming from Garman, Lowrance, and the rest. They are just bringing it to the Fishing public. I tell you what .They may try to justify the cost, and I mean all the manufacturers ,not just the boat builders, but they seem to want to make a killing, not just a decent profit. They will end up hurting themselves.
@@bluemaixma04 I'd love to hear about it. I can't afford a Gator Trax. I was sold on a AVX 1980, but 20XB looks very good. I like the thicker hull a lot. The Excel EX200 also looks interesting. Any info you can provide would be awesome. Thank you!
@@TeamMarineService also curious on avid. You can't add the 225 or the bigger motor on the avid either because they couldn't pass the coast guard regulations for those hp numbers. The max is the max because the actual hull design of the boat is unstable with more hp. They need to go back to the drawing board for a 70k tin boat. Avid is cheaper and better and apparently has a 21footer coming with a 250.
Lund pro- v bass and Crestliner mx 21 get a 250 on them. The Lund is a lot of money though. Might as well go glass for their pricing. But all boats tin or glass are over priced today

Pending who you talk the reason for engine size has to do with how they built the boat and for who. Apparently really early models we 70+ mph and they “detuned” for their glass boats, and drivability. Apparently with more than 200hp you have to drive the boat like a Phoenix boat where as with a 200 anyone who can drive one can just jump in and go wide open no problems. Lund is happening soon!

You guys should price out some aluminum walleye boats. Your heads will explode.
Happening for sure!
Overpriced in my opinion, what do you guys think?

Thanks for the honest videos. Jesper from Copenhagen (Denmark).

Also it is aluminum it dont sit as low in water lighter and dont take as much to move
Cheaper than Gatortraxx.
Even the guys who work at Vexus building them tin rigs will tell you that a Gator Trax boat is built better! Lol

Please add bottom and side wall material thickness in comparison, I think you will find a huge difference
I looked at the 1980 totally loaded out was over 50K NO Friggeb Way!
Ride in one you wont think "tin boat" any more.

My question is how thick is the aluminum? Do they use foam? Do they use extruded aluminum bracing or make their own bracing out of cheap metal flat sheets? These are the questions and answers not addressed here.
You'd have to call Vexus on that....will it likely crack overtime....probably!
ua-cam.com/video/EhTQTvry0hE/v-deo.html
Something is definitely not accurate with that price. I have a 2021 AVX2080 with a 112lb ultrex that they will add. I have lowrance TI2 on both bow and consol and I did have poles already. I payed 52k out the door. I love my Vexus. 200HP runs 66-67mph. You need to drive one as it rides nothing like an aluminum boat. It rides better than my buddies X21 Xpress.
Sure the prices are always cheaper then on the website but we encourage you to hop on their sight and price it out
@@TeamMarineService i just feel these videos do a disservice to boat sales if the prices are not realistic.

Bet a Ranger 518 with a 200 is cheaper in price and a better boat , fiberglass !!
The 518 was a good boat and still is in our opinion!

I was looking at the 1880 as well with a similar build you guys are doing and I think built at 46-48k. I’ve heard nothing but great things about vexus but I decided to with a Basscat Sabre. Nothing like a 18’1 glass boat with a 175 on it.

I definitely would include max hp with each base model...thoughts?? Great series....
