She was too scared to "sacrifice anything" because she knows what she feels for the person isn't really love, she just likes the feeling of being loved and if she continued with that decision, she'd sacrifice that feeling of being loved along with the ring (I believe this means she either got married or proposed to when she decided to leave.).
