This is the first time a clash of conquerors has affected the environment without it being an attack just a flex.
Shanks flexing his conquerors solo on Whitebeards ship also affected the environment, was not a clash though just Shanks power on his own
They both agreed and were angry that the people on the sidelines were being excessively a problem. Katakuri was very honorable, but he would have probably won without the interference. Which make him more awesome. He did his best to even the odd's. Very honorable on his part.
In the Charlotte siblings, there is an annual favorite sister contest. Flambe gets votes from almost all of her brothers except Katakuri, because Katakuri always votes for his favorite sister, Bruley, every year.

The parallelism between Luffy and Katakuri is just insane.
Katakuri protect his family and siblings the same way Luffy protects his friends and crewmates.
Katakuri mimics Luffy's moves, only doing them better than him.
Luffy wants to surpass Katakuri, in everything. In essence, Luffy acknowledges that Katakuri is a stronger and better version of him and he is aiming to surpass that level.
Lastly, Luffy and Katakuri fights in the Mirrorworld. Clearly somewhat a pun that they mirror each other.

and this is why hes the goat And lets not get it wrong, this wasnt about honor but the respect he gained for luffy over the course of their battle. Had this happened in the early stages of their fight, Katakuri wouldnt have cared. Because he viewed Luffy as inferior and wouldve thought that this sneak attack wouldnt have mattered. But the more closer Luffy gets to his level, the more Katakuri respects him and wishes to beat him at his best.

I truly believe that if Flampe wasn't his sister, Katakuri would have killed her on the spot, like he did to those chefs. When Katakuri wounded himself, he showed that he had more honor in his little finger than most, if not all of, the Strawhats' opponents have in their entire bodies.
Katakuri got teased because of his mouth when he was a child, except he was strong enough to beat up his bullies. One day he tried to stuff so many donuts in his mouth his cheeks split. Still, words can leave an impact. It's sad that once his face was revealed the only one who showed him respect was his opponent, Luffy. When he took his vest off, he's saying that he's not fighting for the Big Mom Pirates anymore, he's fighting for himself now. He's no longer trying to eliminate a threat to his mother's crew, it's just between him and Luffy now.
Katakuri is the only opponent we respect so much.
I know it's long, but I will die on the hill that this is one of if not the best fights in all of OnePiece. For this episode alone, and the conclusion of this battle, as well. Fuck, Katakuri is so cool

This moment with Katakuri shedding his façade to rebuke Flampe only to be met with universal scorn and a complete rejection of everything he's been up til this point is low-key one of the most important moments to understand Big Mom's family. We've already understood that she doesn't truly love any of her children, and that the children are all afraid of Big Mom and keep up appearances just to keep their status and lives, but this is the first moment we see how deeply superficial the entire family's bond is. Katakuri, the strongest of the Sweet 3, the invincible and indomitable perfect man, just for the idea that he could lose his composure or has a weird mouth, is derided and despised. This family isn't a meritocracy, it's a vanitocracy, which is something so dysfunctional it's not even a real term. There's more coming with Katakuri, but it all reinforces this core revelation.
This chapter is when I decided to own a katakuri figure.

Edit: Oh and something very important that I forgot to mention, to have conqueror haki you don't need to want to be a leader or govern something, it is also enough to have a strong will to obtain something at all costs (the clearest example of this was Shirohige, he The only thing he wanted was a family and he ended up obtaining a haki that made him a legend among the seas around the world)

The Straw Hats depend on Luffy like the Big Mom Pirates depend on Katakuri. But the Straw Hats readily call Luffy an idiot, they join in on his shenanigans and they laugh along with him. On the other hand, Katakuri is expected to be perfect, and the moment he shows anything but he is treated like garbage to be laughed at. Katakuri must be very lonely aside from his interactions with a few select siblings.

BTW, I don't think it's so much the fangs they were bothered by so much as it was the overall shape of his mouth (notice it looks stitched together). It does admittedly make him look a bit disfigured.....
