Many people see gene and environment as separate entities and believe that height, weight, or personality type can be sliced, rather like a cake, in a section controlled by inherited factors or nature, while others are due to differences in the environment, or nurture.
In fact "heritability" (a measure much misunderstood by politicians and educationists) is more subtle than this and always involves an intimate interaction between the two, whether we are interested in height, weight, sport, or intelligence.

I wonder what studies have been done to see if there is any causal link between the introduction of high starch corn syrup and genetically modified soya protein in so many foodstuffs marketed at ordinary people to obesity. Since food manufacture is 95% owned by a handful of corporate entities could this be halted in its tracks by application of culpability to meet the medical costs of obesity?

my guess the dislikes come from racists and those who think the poor are lesser beings. i used to know folk like that and when i showed them steve jones and robert sapolsky they decided to hold on to there beliefs and add science denial to the mix.
