      Why did people throw bottles?

    • @The4thDensity
      @The4thDensity 2 роки тому +4

      @@reneotten7376 In those days we were allowed to take our own alcohol into the arena as long as they were in plastic bottles. Later on in the day when everyone was pissed drunk we started to throw the discarded bottles that were lying around on the floor. Some still had beer left in them and some had urine in them. We were so pissed drunk we didn't care. I've never seen so many bottle being launched into the air at the same time. It was just hilarious trying to dodge them on the way back down so that we didn't get soaked in piss. You had to be there to witness it.

      I was there in '86. The best part was when Lemmy got hit by a bottle. He almost came into the audience to get the guy that threw it. Epic.

    I fought, pushed and persevered my way to the very front of that gig. I left after Van Halen because there was only one band for me (nothing has changed after all these years!). I turned my back on the stage and pushed my way back out before Angus even took the stage. At the time, I just wasn’t interested. Looking back now, sure, I regret not sticking around. I had many AC/DC albums. Oh well. I still have and regularly wear my Van Halen 1984 t-shirt. I saw VH 4 times. The other 3 were in LA when I lived out there for 10 years. I even got to meet Eddie :)

      i took a selfie in 84 with a 110 instamatc camera
      showed it off to my m8s
      years later i realised - when i turned my back the bloke in front of me opened his program & i took a pic of EVH from that :P
      its STILL a selfie :P

    I was 17 and my mate and I got the boat over from Dublin and hitched to Donnington. The best festival I've ever been at. I watch some of the video of that day that appears on yootoobs now and I dont remember the bands sounding that rough lol. On the day I was just blown away by the level of huge bands on display. I remember the sky being literally filled with bottles at one point! Guy beside us got one right in the head and it had the cap off and was full of p*ss. He went berserk and pushed off through the crowd looking for the culprit, a proverbial needle in a haystack... man, on a day of guitar legends (Gary Moore, Jake E Lee and Angus Young) Eddie Van Halen showed why he was and is the GOAT. On the day Jake for me was a close second.

    I was there but cant remember much about Accept, Motley Crue or Y&T, however Gary Moore was legendary. Van Halen were too much for me, too long guitar solos and Dave Lee Roths jokes!? I was there for Ozzy & AC/DC who were amazing, I'd seen them both previously at the Apollo in Glasgow. It was the year before I joined the RAF and I was only 16 still at school and travelled down on a bus with my mate big Jim Harvey from Auchinleck in Ayrshire Scotland I remember it took ages. I can still see the flying bottles of piss and the shit Tommy Vance got was hilarious. Still cat see myself in the crowd though!

    I never liked these two smug gits on Whistle Test,especially Hepworth and his Jeremy Clarkeson style presenter voice.
    I was at Donnington 84, I left after Van Halen who were rather disappointing, the heat was mad, and the crowd surges and fighting, bottles being thrown etc, was getting really out of hand. it was first and last Donnington, my friends and I retreated back up the hill to some relative safety, and watched AC/DC from there. They were okay, but sound was very wafty.
    Trying to find your coach to get home, was a nightmare, it was a battle ground,pretty scary actually. Our coach left with only about 20 people on it, the drivers got a rough time, with people being sick or fights breaking out.
