2 hacks I use to reduce procasination
1 - before starting your day write down top 3 priorities for the day and try to avoid taking up anything else until it's done
2 - keep a notepad and note down what you did in the last hour. You'll be surprised how much it helps in being accountable to yourself.
Hope this helps some of you :)

If we write down 3 priorities before starting the day then we would actually be starting the day by writing down these priorities. How could we do that before starting the day. We would really, have to be asleep to be before starting the day, because the day starts upon waking. lol just playing. Your drift has been caught.

Nice! This was a great video. 3 questions that I like to ask my clients to break the habit of procrastinating is: 1) What do I know that I need to be doing? 2) What do I want to be doing instead? 3) What are all the reasons I actually want to do what I know I need to do first? That competing goal is the truth.

I call BS on anyone that has indecision and keep second-guessing (going from idea you idea). I’ve dealt with this, it’s because we’re looking for an easy way out. We’re afraid of something. If it was easy, if we weren’t afraid, it would be done already. First step is to acknowledge this and then go. It’s gotta work or it’s gotta work.

    • @adhdadapt
      @adhdadapt 4 роки тому +5

This is definitely a true component of indecision, but it isn't only fear that's the cause of indecision my friend. The fact you can second guess and go from idea to idea to idea is a problem in and of itself. This also isn't taking into account belief systems, your understanding of thought and emotion etc.

I realize I don’t think I matter or what matters to me doesn’t matter. This is a self esteem problem. I know. My life’s purpose came to a halt with this virus. It will never be the same. I think I’ve mourned the end of it and the loss of the people I was close to. I am inspired by this. It’s fast paced for where I am. I think a new path is being revealed. I started meditating and exercising I have to believe and commit. I’m happy you are so high on life. Right now it looks a little manic to me but I get it. You’re excited and passionate. One of the most effective ways to nurture grit is setting a self-transcendent goal rather than a self-oriented goal. Most people set goals to achieve their self interests like getting a better job, a better house, a better car, a better grade or recognition from others. Research shows that rather than setting these self-oriented goals, setting a goal that transcends the self that benefits others is highly effective in sustaining effort and improving grit (Yeager et al., 2014).

Great video! Even though I am just now responding, I enjoyed watching all of your other videos as well.
Do you want to read and not have enough time?
Find the audio book of the book you want to read, then either:
    · listen to the audio book on the auxiliary input (AUX) if trucking on the road or to and from work
    · listen to the audio book with earplugs while jogging
    · listen to the audio book with a Bluetooth speaker while weightlifting
    · listen to audio books on surround sound while cleaning, repairing renovating, fortifying, or rehabilitating house.
I listen to interviews, non-illustrative videos and audio books while I am in motion or on a long, slow drive.
This has helped me save time in many ways over the years, I hope this strategy helps you all as much as it has helped me.

It’s a question about negative feelings/associations towards a certain task and the mind drifting towards the easier, more stimulating option - moving away from pain and towards pleasure. The neural pathways associated with certain tasks is connected/remembered as highly pleasurable and others very hard. A biological mechanism that should make us more effective, but in reality, unconsciously takes down even the best of us 😅 very counterproductive. For me, flipping the script and realizing this biological process is happening helps me “transcend” that negative association or feeling towards the task I feel like procrastinating on, and helps me actually go through with; realizing the mind just wants the easiest and most stimulating option, and that in fact it’s not “me” that don’t want to do this - I would love to get it done, but my mind... that’s a different story 😄

Can't remember where I first read this idea, but I think it was James Clear. Procrastination happens for two reasons: the task is too boring, or it's too big. Find a way to make the thing more exciting, find something new, or break the thing into smaller chunks. This lesson has been a game-changer. I still find myself procrastinating, but I use the simple question, "Is it too boring or too big?" to get myself refocused.

Great key takeaways from this one that are actionable and excellent quotes. I must stop fearing asking you a question and I hope that we get another chance soon. Please keep this style of content going. I have to say ( my opinion ) you not being in the studio with the majority of the guests due to the pandemic has changed my enthusiasm with the interviews because you work absolute Magic when the guest is with you and you speak great body language to dig deeper or change subjects. But this format was Captivating thank you brother as always for your content.

My assessment is that John from Canada is an ideas guy. IDEA people are overflowing with great ideas that could all be successful but have a hard time committing to ONE single idea because they'll miss out on the other, or they get convinced the newest one is best, etc. My advice is to choose to commit to one biz idea regardless of how awesome your other ideas are. You have to trust that the biz plan you made was indeed worth pursuing and actively push out new ideas. Ideas are new and exciting and fun. Starting a business has frustrating, boring, and uninspiring parts to it. Instead of bouncing to the next idea you have to embrace the sucky parts, and get through them. Setting up your bank account, working on the website, coming up with a marketing strategy, the gritty details, etc.Knowing you may be an Ideas person, you can instead focus on the task at hand and try to get inspired and new creative ideas for that particular part. Doing the website? Let your ideas run free until you commit to the overall look. Then put it away and focus on your 'ideas' for the next thing. Hope this helps. I have the same issue. So many ideas, I'll never get to them all, but if I can do one or two really well in my lifetime, that'll be enough.

Love these tips, especially the ''reward yourself after you put in real effort''. One of mine is to watch a 25 min anime, however due to some external factors I couldn't do that today - so I watched this instead, stretched over three settings.

When in HS I noticed that notifications would greatly distract me. Some people wouldn't understand... till this day my personal phone is 98% of the time on silent. People still have made it a point to complain. I recommend checking in with the people in your "Top10" every now and then. Perhaps create special settings on your phone or protocols to follow in case of emergencies. ♡

The quality of that front camera kept bugging me - not sure if it's a Lenovo camera, but I had one and replaced it with a Logitech C920s, and quality was tremendously clearer.

I would like to read your book and learn about how to get out of the matrix. From what I understand, it comes down to values and perceptions as in what you focus on when something happens.

2 Hacks I use to reduce procrastination.
1 -Tell yourself that as soon as you're done you'll reward yourself. Then you are eager to get it done so that you can enjoy the reward. This is what they did with you when you were little. After you eat your vegetables you can have desert. LOL. 2 Hire a Coach to keep you accountable to your goals. 96% more productive.
