Ok so i have one of these detectors too and i found out that even after removing it from the base the detector still blinks for like a minute (probably a large capasitor inside the smoke detector) and your panel might turn off power to the detector when its in alarm and it might seem that it is still blinking, or if thats not the case. Then the detector is probably wired wrong, if all of these are false then the smoke detector is not functioning well, at least this is my opinion.
