Heatable installed REA panels with Enphase microinverters and batteries for me last September and oh my word… the winter solar harvest here in the northwest of England has outstripped all my calculated expectations. I’m very happy to be getting such impressive results. Just awaiting the Enphase EV charger and System Controller to land in the UK now to complete my requirements
It's great to hear that the REA panels and micro's are living up to expectations and even EXCEEDING them! The efficiency of this technology in UK weather (low light conditions) really can't be compared to standard DC set up's...
What additional R&D is REA carrying out to increase solar panel efficiency? Is the use of say perovskite realistic to increase efficiency substantially more in the near future?
Hey Peter, we'll get REA to answer this in more detail but until then... REA are constantly working on R&D and have partnerships with Central Queensland University and University of Queensland to explore new photovoltic material substrates and Perovskite / Tandem cells. These are one of the cell structures that they are exploring. The efficiency of these technologies are extremely high, however the stability and reliability are the main concerns for commercialisation.
