Calling Swift a premium hatchback and saying it has “peppy” performance with 80 bhp motor shows why these car companies have a massive disconnect with car buyers these days. Polo died for this. An i20 N-line with 120 bhp engine and DSG gearbox is a premium hatchback.
The interviewer asked a great question about potential cannibalization between Baleno and Swift, since now both cars are mileage oriented and not performance oriented (despite what this guy says) with overlapping pricing, which I think will happen eventually.
qstn is why are they cannnibalising this with fronx, do they want to get rid of swift in the future,as every one is buying csuvs these days????

@@mulesofttrainingNot if you look at Baleno’s YoY sales before and after Fronx launch, and now look at Swift’s sales with new increased price bringing it to Baleno’s level. Nobody in their right mind would buy a Swift when they can buy Baleno for almost the same price.
@@M4NA5 yeah but normal guys choose baleno for its looks and ground clearance. but mileage fellows opt to swift only. in tank to tank tests, this is swift returned shocking 30+ kmpl.
If this is what Maruti's management looks like, then it's no wonder they make the most iunnspiring cars in the Indian market

Sales matter more to the management.
Simple truth he didn't tell: Just to compensate for the cost of mandatory 6 airbags, we downgraded from 4 cylinder to 3 cylinder engine.
chill down. with new pollution norms they had to switch to 3 cylinder engine.
The downgrade is for 3 reasons:
1. Cost
2. Emissions and fuel economy
3. More torque at low RPM. By maintaining the same engine volume, each cylinder has a longer stroke. So if you were to slow down from 40 to 15 kmph, you need not shift from 3rd to 2nd and can continue driving the car in the 3rd gear at low speeds.
I have seen driver reviews from channels in the Netherlands and the UK. The consensus seems to be that the engine feels just as refined as the 4 cylinder one.
Downgrade is not good but swift will eat Baleno... That's why they try differentiate with different engine

so without hybrids if the ARAI claimed FE is 25kmpl then shouldn't we worry abt hybrids in future which will reduce emission even more and improve FE? what is he even answering 😂 sad state of affairs at MS india. z series engines biggest plus is that i can be easily adaptable to a strong hybrid which is the future plan of MS. but this person doesn't even seem to be aware of it i guess
He’s trying to be smart answering it. Hybrid variant would push the price to 12L. How many sales can they generate at that premium? Also parallel hybrid increases the complexity. Future MS is looking at series hybrid for smaller cars which is a simpler tech and they’ll be able to achieve economies of scale by mass producing it as every compact car will have that tech.

At these pricing Maruti should have provided driver seat height adjustment in the vxi variant and both driver seat adjustment and drls in the vxi (o) variant. Punch is the current king and once the facelifted version of the Punch and the Kia Syros are launched Swift will meet the fate of Jimny. The Punch facelifted model will be launched soon and the Maruti rival is still on the drawing boards. Common Maruti wake up...... the times are changing and changing fast!

6 airbags were made standard for every car by highway ministry . I think they rollback on the decision but that's how this swift got 6 airbags.

Thus z series engine need to be kept in wagonr model .

NVH levels are better compared to the outgoing model. Suzuki has added a lot more insulation and has used fluid filled mounts to absorb the engine vibration.

Typically executive directors have a vision and they offer a new perspective on things we haven't considered. But this guy's knowledge about the auto industry's market trends are lacking to say it politely. I was hoping to hear more about Suzuki's plan for future hybrid vehicles, but this guy gives a typical non answer by saying we have an engine that gives a best in class mileage. You could talk to a salesperson at Maruti showrooms and get the same answers. If I was Suzuki, I would fire this guy and put in someone with a vision for the future.
Due to poor service, maruti Suzuki sales going down only. Very poor service in guntur AP. 4 years continuously I am compliant, but maruti people never care. In feature, it may further fall in sales

Warning signs for Maruti Suzuki if the head is not able to answer the media effectively...and doesn't seem to be aggressive and innovation doesn't seem to be his focus...Also making the Swift so expensive doesn't make any sense...its low on power from the outgoing model...from a 4 cylinder they have shifted to 3 cylinder engine... I mean the price that they are offering the Swift at seems absurd to me atleast...Maruti Suzuki was once considered affordable now even the Swift is costlier than the competition...they haven't even got the mild hybrid in it...absurd pricing...even after providing 6 airbags from the base variant are they sure of a 5 star rating??? If this is how leadership answers questions then its a warning sign for sure
