Spring Maintenance // Echo PAS-225 and Power Rotary Scissor

Today we take another step in our Spring Startup! Maintenance on our Echo PAS-225 Trimmer and Idech Power Rotary Scissor. We needed a quick tune-up and maintenance on our trimmer equipment prior to our first Spring use. The Echo PAS-225 needed a new spark plug and some cleanup around the exhaust and plastic covers. The Power Rotary Scissors needed a quick inspection, clean-up of dirt and grass around and inside the blade housing, and some grease in the main housing. We are now all set and ready for the season.

Me too! But with this new trimmer I want it to last a long time, so I will do better! Also, the rotary scissors are too expensive not to keep them in tip-top shape. I don't want to replace it any time soon!

I really like them and they work great in all types of lawns. I also have a few different attachments I like to use for specific tasks. Some people use the scissors for everything and I don't want to waste them trimming edges. Too expensive to dig in dirt.

I have always heard that the PAS/SRM 225 lacked the power to work with rotary scissors. Looks like they work just fine to me!

It works great! Just need to keep it greased! Every 10 or so uses I add some grease and have had no issues.

how do you lube the gearbox? There is no bolt to remove like most trimmers.

I think there is a screw that you can remove. But it's been a minute. I will try to remember to check next time I am out there.

What is the cleaner you use?

Fuel Defense Carburetor and Choke Cleaner Spray, but you can use any carburetor cleaner you want.

It works just fine. I do recommend greasing it regularly.
