- Or, what Beardsley did
….Blimey.
Fantasy High: Junior Year, Season 3, Dimension 20, Dropout
Episode 18
Brennan Lee Mulligan, Ally Beardsley, Lou Wilson, Emily Axford, Brian Murphy, Siobhan Thompson, Zac Oyama
Dungeons and Dragons, DnD, Critical Role
I truly love the idea that K2's DM was canonically Zac the entire time, and that's why she was so different from Kristen.
OMIGOD THAT'S HILARIOUS
Oh that's AMAZING.
+
I haven't listened to the Rotating Heroes podcast but this tracks
I LOVE THIS
The implication here is that K2 is a separate person playing a different campaign run by an alternate universe Zac Oyama that happens to overlap with our world
TIME QUANGLING!&$&@
Og Kristen is the K2 for a different campaign
Brennan making up deep lore to explain the Simulacrium pregnancy is truly a testament to his dedication.
And in the state of exhaustion and sheer disbelief, too. Magical is that man.
I wonder if his wife prolly being pregnant at the time of filming had anything to do with it. It would make sense, after all; didn't want to destroy a pregnant woman.
It's more creating detailed lore to explain the shit your players come up with. You know sometimes your playing a LotR game and your dwarf let's you know he's from a long line of dwarvish Circus preformers and suddenly one of the seven dwarf lord's is Bobo the Clown.
@@mhart3212you don’t need a pregnant wife to not want to disintegrate a pregnant woman lmao why do d20 fans always try to psychoanalyze the cast
i can’t believe brennan would do this to a pregnant woman….
She was gonna go to Hudol!!
fabian’s crushed deep down 😔 he could’ve raised the baby along with his new sibling 😔
How does it feel having the funniest comment omg
my friend and i were doing the math to figure out if izzy was pregnant at the time and the answer is they were at the very least actively trying by then which is just 😭😭😭
@@jjuni98 im bad at maths, but we at least know ally's birthday was during the like 15 or 16 adventuring party so that can narrow it down a lot
God gives his most pregnant battles to his most British Kristins
First Fabian loses Ecaf and now K2. Truly his loneliest year

And to think, just last week Brennan was putting on his smuggest smile while playing a 5-year-old video clip. How quickly does the pendulum swing.
Brennan: I'm so ready for this season. So many threads coming together, such elegance in storytelling, so powerful and moving...
Ally "K2" Beardsley: "thAt's wHAt yEWWW ThiNK!!!"
This episode *started* with Emily casually pouring an entire pot of coffee and ended with Brannan electrocuting a pregnant teen (who was probably not pregnant and may have been teleported to real life England).
One of the most unhinged episodes of all time. Absolute joy.
British D20 fans keep your eyes peeled for a jacked high schooler who can fly and also sounds nothing like a brit
It was the most Adventuring Party episode they've ever done
Plus, Emily pitched that they were rocking double Lv 14 Twilight Domain Clerics. Truly a testament to her existence as The Agent of Hell Sent to Destroy Brennan
✍️ 😈🤌
@@edwardt.8704as someone who just finished up a campaign playing a Twilight cleric (and a level 14 one too!)...my god, Brennan Lee Mulligan, the man that you are for allowing that.
"I don't know if you heard me. I said: Blimey." There are still tears on my face from laughing. This episode was *wild*
This, followed by "honestly, she isn't even British"
Given the whole revelation later about Blimey being abbreviated from “God blind me”, K2’s “I don’t think you heard me” makes it sound like she has *never been more certain* of her *uncertainty.*
Idk how poetic that is, but it seems pretty damn poetic.
When the trailer released and it showed Brennan asked "Did you have a thing with Kristen 2?" I had assumed he was roleplaying as Mazey talking to Fabian. The fact that it was actually just Brennan asking Lou is so much funnier.
Seeing Brennan walking away behind everyone made me realize just how big the dome is now!! There's so much space between their chairs and the actual screens!
I'm betting that it's grown over the seasons - I feel like I've seen older clips where they run into it more
@@mollofamerika oh yeah the dome expanded over the lockdown era of online episodes i believe
@@Butterratbeei bet it makes filming way easier but my god i miss the actual dome. something about the claustrophobic nature made it feel a little crazier in a very specific way

Ok, but the scene that Zac and Beardsley co-created to highlight a situation where K2 would be FULL of doubt in a moment when it was most needed by the story .... *chef's kiss*
You can say what you want, there's nobody more doubtful in the world than newborn clone K2, pregnant Hudol Hellion
We’re all still not sure it even happened!
I’m just now realizing Kristen’s source of doubt is deep philosophical doubt of her faith meanwhile K2’s resurrection of Kristen’s divinity was doubting if she used the pregnancy test right. kristen is truly the greatest cleric of her age.
Ally pulling a "if it weren't for the baby" after Brennan says K2 will dissolve
I've never seen Brennan so mad before
This is still nothing compared to when Sam psychology tortures him in GameChanger tho
I've never seen Brennan this IRL mad while DMing before.
@@Spiritoftherainwas he actually IRL mad here ? i couldnt recognize that
@@tree.mctreeno he was playing it up like he usually does. he gave beardsley 4 opportunities to make that roll, he happily did this to himself
@@getheidea okay cool. i struggle w reading ppl sometimes and didnt know if he actually was angry
i can’t get over how truly…in theme for Cassandra this was. like for K2 to have gotten the divine intervention when every time kristen has tried it hasn’t worked is honestly Peak Goddes Of Magic And Mystery. like the magic half being that depicts her actual champion is who got the intervention, that’s such a combination of magic and mystery like 😭
You're so right, I love that 🤣
That's exactly why I loved this moment instead of hating it. If it was for anything else, it might have been too zany. But for the first ever successful divine intervention roll by the champion of the goddess of doubt and mystery? A person who is known for being comically random a lot of the time, and whose comical randomness is depicted as an act of observance to her god of mystery? This is just perfect. ❤
This is the greatest loop-de-loop Brennan's been thrown for since Rekha took a shit out of a window.
Rolling a nat 20 to make ghosts real was a good one
Since Rekha WHAT??
Daisy Dumpstaire, Rekha's PC, took a shit out of the window, to help Grant's PC, soft land on the ground or at least break his fall as she felt she had no other options left. In Mice & Murder

Every DM reaches this point every so often.
No. You made these choices. Here's where we are. No going back.
7:03 fuckin "she honestly wasn't even british!" Fucking killed me Ally is a goddamn comedic genius 😂
That REALLY made me break!! 😂😂
I love that K2 is a cleric of the goddess of mystery and doubt not because she's a copy of Kristen, but just because she's confused by everything.
That honestly might be why she was able to succeed where Kristen had failed. Her very existence is made out of the kind of preposterousness that gives Kristen her power. So it makes total sense for her to die as she lived: as an insane clusterfuck.
Zac pressing the CORRECT button was the funniest thing he could've done in response to all of that
My headcanon is that K2 didn't even know what was going on, she just came above deck, went "I don't know what's happening" and Cassandra chose to just fucking Dr Manhattan her for the audacity
Alternatively, K2 had so much doubt and uncertainty about what was happening in that moment it became a divine intervention
@@mii1638 It's like the scene from Community. The one where Troy comes back into the room carrying pizzas, only to find the room on fire, with Pierce bleeding out from a gunshot wound, and with a bunch of other crazy shit going on. Honestly, if you were a cleric of the goddess of doubt and mystery, I could imagine that moment being a locus of incredible power.
@@mii1638K2 is a being of pure doubt. Throughout her entire existence, everyone was unsure if she should be kept around. She has not existed long enough to reach understanding, and thus cannot have certainty. There is not an ounce of surety in her magically constructed snow body.
I love how Brennan hands Zac the box of doom and he instantly understands the assignment.
They may have lost a healer before the final battle but we all know Squeem is gonna come charging in to gym rage dimension and save one of them from a final blow
I appreciate that Ally pointed out/tried giving Brennan an out from this absolutely hilarious moment but despite his rage he willingly chose to commit to this. It'll be interesting to see how the consequences of this are handled.
I haven’t stopped laughing in the ten minutes it has been since I finished this episode. My vision is blurring. Thank you
🧢🧢🧢
I hope to god this moment ends up in the various crazy Beardsley roll compilations because this was an INSANE set of rolls to unintentionally make while doing a bit and clearly assuming on all fronts that it would never work 😂
In the short videos released before the season, Ally had teased thst there was a moment one of their decisions caused Brennan to leave the set
I have been waiting every week for that moment to arrive and this absolutely did not disappoint 😂
"and she feels like something in that worked" *CORRECT*
This is, among other things, another example of Zac being a master improviser, reading the bit perfectly and doing exactly what was needed to bring it to its most hilarious/ridiculous conclusion
Brennan got so mad he transformed into Zac…
You mean he transformed into Grant O'Brien, who was clearly returning the favor for filling in for him on Game Changer when he had COVID.
I truly cannot fathom that this actually happened. This was absolutely insane.
Blimey...
Edit: I am so looking forward to the Adventuring Party
No, I don't think you heard them. They said blimey.
I mean he gave them 4 rolls with a 14% chance for each to succeed. It's not that unfathomable that one of them would succeed.
The MOMENT this happened, I said "This weeks Adventuring Party is going to be WILD"
Brennan completely losing it when he hears she's pregnant fuckin made me lose it
The boss being thwarted again by an infamous Beardsley roll, Brennan had no choice but to introduce Frumptillious III as the new villain.
We need Zack DMing.
*Zac

Nothing could be more Ally Beardlsey, truly nothing
"I STEPPED OUT OF THE DOME FOR *TWO* *SECONDS*"
"I've never had a battle episode have 'Adventuring Party' energy in it before" really foreshadowed the absolute insanity of this ending lmao.
going from this scene to the teaser for next episode was the fastest mood change i’ve experienced in a while
2:56 Now I need a Zac DM season, as well a Beardsley DM season.
"lemme roll in front of the board real quick.... nat 20."
This bit truly had everything: a based Emily suggestion, an insane Ally roll, a surprise pregnancy, a dramatic death scene, "I need a ride home," DM Zac, a classic Brennan Lee Mulligan rant, a town on fire. Love Brennan realizing the fight was almost over and giving Beardsley a chance to roll Divine Intervention for a poetic convo with Cassandra, only to somehow not anticipate his friends' usual shenaniganery. You did this to yourself Lee Mulligan!! What else would a straight British clone of a PC have said to a god!!!!!
Adventuring Party really brings Blimey full circle to make it all make sense.
@@KaristinaLafae K2 is all buttoned up

It's for sure gonna be titled Blimey
Are you the elven oracle in our timeline?
@@xoxoemmyyyyy I saw the storm coming though
not raising an issue and giving ally 4x the chances you are suppose to get for divine intervention is on of those "I as the DM actually super want this to work moves" there are whole papers on how good of chance ally got but the tldr version is ally got 40-50 percent chance to proc the divine intervention. not exactly even but way better than any casino would let you have.
I ran the odds, and there was a slightly higher than 59% chance that Ally could roll one of two options on a d10 on at least one of four dice.
Love the idea thaf Brennan really wanted this to happen specifically so he could make Ally deal with the insanity of it all
The real gamble wasn't getting the divine intervention at all, but getting it on K2 and not Kristen.
@@EinDoseit only would have happened every time on a 0 for the first roll, or if the first is a 1 and the second is a 0-4 (50% chance). So 59.04% chance of hitting the first roll, 29.52% chance of the first roll being a 0, which I'll call P0, and 29.52% chance of it being a 1 which I'll call P1.
So the odds are P0+½P1 = 0.2952+½*0.2952=44.28% chance of this divine intervention.
If the rules were done differently (one/no help actions, only allowing 1-4 instead of 0-4):
36% chance of hitting the first roll in 2 (with no help actions), leading to 25.5% (or 23.8% with 1-4 as roll 2)
48.8% chance of hitting it in 3 (with 1 help action), meaning 36.6% (or 34.16% with 1-4 as roll 2)
I'm surprised the lowest is 24%, which feels quite high
Isn't divine intervention a d100 roll? I get the D10 roll but how is it so high for the first
The "correct" took me out LOLLLL
final words 'i wanna keep it' was hilarious
As hilarious as this is, they did lose a healer before the final battle, all the while they didn’t use the emergency gold tornado. Ughhhhh
Hopefully the emergency gold can come back for the final battle
i mean there's nothing stopping them from using the coin still. brennan mentioned it might show up again
He may have just wanted to show it off because there wouldn't be another chance for the mini mini, presumably on the battle map for next episode it'll be a lot larger! 🌪️💰
maybe the gold tornado is a healer
4:24 'And she feels like something in that worked.' *CORRECT*
I want desperately to shake the hand of whoever was running projections. My god, was that the final nail in the coffin for me; my ribcage hurts.
blimey...
I love that fabian denies that he did anything with british kristen, and then the second brennan asks lou if she's pregnant bc of fabian lou immediately steps into the joke
This was Zac's audition for the DM role
Brennan is right, this episode absolutely has adventuring party vibes
Watching Brennan get a situation so chaotic he leaves the dome just to come back n find out everyone's spontaneously added 3 new even more chaotic plot points to K2s story is SO fucking funny
i wander how many lbs of almonds Brennan ploughed through that night to calm his nerves
The back furnace putting in work
@@J3Puffin I forgot about the furnace in his torso help 💀💀💀
The subtitles saying “with a mouthful of almonds” killed me personally
On the closed captions/subtitles earlier in the episode, there was a point where the titles said (mouth full of almonds) next to whatever Brennan said in that moment, and I truly, truly thought that was going to be the funniest thing about the episode.
Damn, was I wrong.
@@WorldsUnhealthiestFitPerson I love that so much
I think Brennan would have allowed Zac to keep going as DM. But he started touching buttons and they needed to shut that shit down.
i think the best part of this is ally trying to take back all of it
The thing I hate the most about this is not the joke or the shenanigans. It's that we could've had the Gold Tornado save the day and it was ruined! Thanks Kristen!
This is way funnier and more memorable than just a random cameo from a character from season 1 showing up i didn’t even remember gold tornado lmao don’t get how you think it would’ve saved the day either unless you think 1 tornado can beat a god, some of y’all are so anti fun and seem to dislike half the pcs I question why you even continue watching
Bruv this was a joke... chill.
We got here, gang. We reached the moment that broke Brennan.
Zac does do his own D&D podcast called Rotating Heroes, which is awesome and does have arcs with some of the Intrepid Heroes and other folks from the Dropout family. I'm probably preaching to the choir here but if you want more of Zac as DM you have to check it out.❤
This and the AP after was so wild. Like, this entire season is so insane, I keep thinking things can’t get weirder, that the funniest shit has passed, but it keeps going and getting more and more fucking wild
Zac without missing a beat just sitting on the dm chairs is perfect
"We are SO far past it" - encapsulates just, so much of what this show is like I stg.
Thank you forr the clip!
As Brennan said "An episode that felt like adventuring party energy"
I laughed like Lou when this happened in the episode. My pulse ox was like in the 20s or something
That man is a father. To do something like that to a pregnant woman? No words.
Blimey
I don't know if you heard me. I said... blimey
Tonight's dimension 20 is an all timer. It's gonna be in the hall of fame for years
You can tell Zac DMs. He did awesome!
Please, for the love of God, we gotta get K2 back in another season as some interdimensional traveler
gotta love the fact that Ally tried to save Brennan from his own kerfuffle and Brennan basically went "well I've alreay committed to the bit"
Ally is so blessed with rolls that even Kristen's simulacrum can do wonders ❤
NOOO FABIAN’S 16 YOUNGER SIBLINGS’ PREGNANT AUNT NOOOOOOOO
Blimey!
Singularly the most poetic Beardsley roll of all time 😂
my head is like RINGING from laughing oh my god
“Psychic lobotomy” is hitting the vocab permanently
You made this SO FAST
the moment that fully broke me is how exasperated brennan sounded when he said “england”
Every season, the magic is real.
Roll a d1 for a false positive
When they adapt this into a live action series... I want tears during this scene.
I love how the music and special effect noises all just stop. It really emphasizes the complete break down of the game.
I was WHEEZING at this moment. I don't think I have ever laughed as hard. I legitimately got so lightheaded that I thought I was gonna pass out. This was incredible.
I haven't cried laughing in a while and this scene just totaled me. Thanks for uploading it.
*nothing* could've been funnier than "CORRECT" popping up when ally said "something in that worked...?"
I’ve genuinely wanted to get the idea of what life would be like if Zac was a dm, and the fact that that temporarily happened just made this moment all the more hysterical last week, I couldn’t breathe watching this
I really would love to see any of the d20 cast behind the screen
truly your channel is the backbone of the d20 community on youtube
An honor and a privilege, gov’na
Adaine’s “her and Perceval are going steady” has really been thrown under the bus for the Fabian/K2 joke.
I love that Ally came to the DND session dressed like a 80 year old man who collects stamps.
I was cackling so hard through the end of this episode that my neighbor knocked on my door to see if I was okay 🤷🏻♂️😂
just to be clear, there was a 47% chance of at least one of those divine intervention rolls succeeding
I cant believe there’s no more episodes of dimension 20 after this
That “correct!” stamp fully broke me when I watched this
"Without any context or understanding anything at all." 😂
This entire episode felt like an extended Adventuring Party.
Somehow it was the correct stamp that sent me over the edge with this bit
As ridiculous as it is, it does kinda make sense that K2 would manage to pull this off. Who better to call on the goddess of mystery and doubt for aid, than a simulacrum with no understanding of what's happening?
This whole season has been Brennan getting revenge on the intrepid heroes for all of their shenanigans so far... But he was not prepared for them to retaliate with an even more shenanigany shenanigan
Best side character death ever.
It strangely mirrors (heh) the wild side characters' deaths in episode one of this season.
