Great video! Thanks for taking the time to put this together. Such a shame this pond is closing down! You mentioned that the pond had a design flaw but did not mention what it was?
Hi Mike, thanks for the kind words. I elaborate more in the article, but basically, there was a lack of returns and those that were installed were placed incorrectly. They blow the waste past the bottom drains and it settles at the far side of the pond. An additional return was added to aid this, but was not ideal.
Hi, sorry just seen this. All depends what it’s being used for, as it’s a hobbyists pond and needs to be used with discretion in regards to selling goods or services etc
@worldofnishikigoi7291 first, Merry Christmas. Second, thanks for the reply. I will just post a link to your video. I'll take no credit and make no comment other than "here is a wonderful example of a beautiful, modern pond"
@@TheFiSHDocToR merry Christmas! Hope you had a great one. Sure thing, that’s no problem. I just have to check someone won’t say “I built this” 😂 enjoy the rest of your holidays 👍
Can’t stand people who treat living things as “commodities”, to be discarded when their interest wanes! It’s like Koi keepers and UA-camrs who talk about “moving Koi on” because they’ve found a “better one”! Whenever a Koi enters our pond it’s there for life and is part of our family. We’d no more think about getting rid of any of them than we would our cats or dogs! In fact the oldest is now around 33 years, clearly past his best but he’s staying right where he is!
I completely hear you. They are living things and should be given every care for a long happy life. But sometimes people’s circumstances change and the pond must be closed. In this case koi are best given a new pond for life. Or if a pond is mistakenly overstocked it’s better for the koi welfare to be re-homed. 👍
100% agree but I had to let my koi go, it was heartbreaking. I wanted to take them with me to Thailand but unfortunately it just wasn't feasible. Luckily I found an experienced and dedicated enthusiast and they all went to the same very nice pond.
Always liked this pond. I used the same cladding he has, on my own pond as i liked it when i saw the pictures. And i found out where it came from. The koi are lovely , so are the plants. I never had much luck keeping the plants i tried, Nothing lasted very long in pots. really nice pond tho . Shame the issues became to much of a burden for him.
Amazing pond, set up and koi 👍 great video just subbed. I’m looking to do a smaller build next year and want to install a window with a box welded liner. Seen a few different methods on UA-cam but haven’t been convinced fully. Would you be able to ask Shane how he done his please? Thanks 👍
Thanks for the nice feedback. Sounds like a great project. Best thing to do is get the advice off a local professional, that way they can ensure you get the most suitable info. 👍
Hi, it’s a jump guard, becoming a popular addition in the uk, especially where infinity style windows are installed. It stops the koi slipping over the edge. But yes, it would also help with pesky herons!
@@worldofnishikigoi7291 I personally don't like the glass window style koi ponds. It's seems to add maintenance and I think kois are meant to be observed top down. They look awkward and weird in side view. I love ground level ponds. You get a better view and enjoy the kois much more as they're meant to be viewed. That's just me. Keep up the good work!
Isn't life strange... he's fed up of the downside of the hobby, whilst I'd kill to have such a magnificent collection of fish :)
Life is indeed strange! But it takes all sorts I guess! 👍
cracking pond thats what you call a pond glass windows all over well done shane

Thank you!
Perfect. Many greetings from Germany
You’re welcome, I’m glad you enjoyed it. Best Wishes 👍

You don’t know what you got until it’s gone a beautiful pond crying shame it’s going but sometimes needs must 😓
💯- I don’t want to have to say to him “told you so” 😢
Is the glass to protect the koi from herons? It's genius!

Impossible for must of us
You’d be surprised at what koi keepers can achieve with limited budgets.
I cant imagine spending money on high end koi just to call it quits. I have fish you couldn't pay me to get rid of.
How many money do you need to do that????? 😢😢😢
I don’t know what the budget was, but koi keeping can be for everyone, you just need to scale the project to suit your pocket.
