fun fact, these guys when they are done with their deployment in Sirius will be able to sort of continue as Sirius members in what is called "Res-sir". Their job is then to be experts in the arctic region to the rest of the special operations command team, to train and support the Huntsmen and the Frogmen.I know this as I was on a exercise in Greenland in 2020 with a couple of guys from "Res-sir" and we helped the Frogmen conduct a parachute-drill in the fjord.
2:22:16 They actually say 1-2 millimeter. No mistranslation here. Subtitles in this series are quite spot on. I have only spotted one or two very minor slips over the last 2 hours, but which had no consequence for the meaning.
1:48:41 Dvergarve Dal Dvergarve is the danish name for a small beautiful white flower, which probably very well could grow there in the summer: Arenaria humifusa Dal is Dale.
13:44 Name of the sled, Sleipner (Sleipnir), is the name of Odin's eight legged grey steed in Norse Mythology. It is said to be the best of all horses, and is sometimes ridden to the location of Hel, the realm of death.
2:29:42 The native language in Greenland is Greenlandic. As part of the Danish Realm, Danish is taught in Greenlandic schools. Some speak both, others needs translation. Society is mixed, with both Danes and Greenlanders living side by side. By far the majority of the population is Greenlandic. Ittoqqortoormiit is the 19. largest town in Greenland with a population at about 345 people.
53:07 "That was close to really sucking" In 1999, two persons from a support station to the mission, went through the ice with sled and dogs and died. Each dog can weigh up to 50 kg and the sled with equipment weigh between 450 and 500 kg.
1:45:55 Horse Dal or Horsedal It means what one would expect: Horse Dale As far as I know, Horse was used in old Norse (can also have a sub-meaning of "running around" in old Norse). In modern Danish/Norwegian/Swedish we would use hest/hest/häst respectively. Modern name in Danish would be Hestedal.
5:36 It indeed is an honor to wear. That trip is not for everyone to do. The current Danish King Frederik X, then crown prince, participated in "Expedition Sirius 2000", a four-month and 2,795 km trip.
The dogs stay outside , all year. They love it. the fur generates more undercoat( wool ) if needed . And they Can go Down to 70 minus .it’ s very strong dogs 🇩🇰😄
Interesting fact: The danish king has been both at frogman and a part of the Sirius Patrol. Google Kronprins Frederik i Siriuspatrolien or Kronprins Frederik i frømandskorpset
Well...no! Frogman Corps, yes. And did take part in a trip with sleds and dog together with former Sirius personnel. One of them joined The Frogman Corps after Sirius and met Frederik there, where he heard about the plans for the trip and along the way got involved. So...not actually a member of the patrol. Look up "Sirius 2000".
1:29:45 The dogs are fit for this climate and will stay outside in all weather. No problem, it doesn't bother them at all. When linked to the travel line and under heavy snowfall then, as far as I know, the humans need to see to them from time to time to ensure the line stays above the snow, so the dogs do not get trapped by the line over time.

Haha almost started to watch it again, it’s just brilliant. So proud of these young lads and how they carry themselves.
Hahah put it all together for everyone . It’s brilliant isn’t it
32:05 Blæsedalen can probably most closely be translated to The Blowy Dale or The Windy Dale
at blæse = to blow
en dal, dalen = a date, the dale
1:39:49 Ørsted Dal
A dale probably named after the Danish physicist and chemist Hans Christian Ørsted.
2:32:16 Rømer Fjord
A fjord probably named after the Danish astronomer Ole Rømer.
1:47:20 Sled with all the equipment weigh between 450 and 500 kg
14 dogs sound about right, weighing about 50 kg each.

2 years = 1 year as the "youngest", 1 year as he oldest training new fupper (Sirius soldiers)
Two year. First year you are the young one, an you have to learn from one who are on the secound year. Next year you are the teather.

Polar bears are one of the reasons children from the age of 12 are allowed to own a rifle and allowed to go hunt 🙂
