@@dylandog1289 SENA helmets. They made a point to plug them in a few clips during the video. Now if you are going to ask me if I would get an EV bike? No. I would not and I suspect that they were spun off to isolate the risk from the HD brand. The sales took a nosedive in the first half of 2024.
@@Scottie8740 Our local HD didnt carry them because they didnt want to pay to have the charger installed. Only reason i wouldnt get one again is that the tech is moving too quickly, best to let it settle so your investment doesnt lose value so quickly.
@@dylandog1289 I agree, the tech does have a way to go. 2:00 They mentioned that Live Wire was spun off into its own brand and the future looks bright. I don’t think people are going to spend 30K on an electric bike. If the dealership doesn’t want to pay for the charger I can’t see how someone would want to install a charger on top of the $30K. I do see the top of the line Zero selling for half of that price with two other models at around 9K. Even if the tech were more mature I’d hesitate.
She's awesome. Loved her in the Battlestar Galactica reboot. I also found it hilarious that the first time I saw her in another show it was an investigation about (of course), Fracking. Great inside joke. It just wouldn't be her without saying "Fracking" all the time. ha ha. Not surprised at all that she's a fellow rider with a big Harley. It fits.
Katee Sackhoff. Massive Crush since Starbuck. Many great roles since then. Loved Longmire. Awesome in The Mandalorian... It's fabulous to see strong women riding because it's the thing to do and for Fantastic causes...
I have a Harley Road Glide and a Heritage Classice, both with 114's and torque cams and loud pipes. The other day, I took one of my local dealership's Live Wire's for a spin. It was a lot of fun. The acceleration was amazing, reminding me a bit of my sport bike days. The engine braking took some getting used to. I hated not having a clutch and no engine/pipe noise. I enjoyed riding the Live Wire, but I would never buy one for myself. i enjoyed watching Leno and Sackhoff riding the bikes and giving their takes on them.
Katee is one of my favorite celebs...legendary performance in Battlestar but also wonderful in Star Wars...her podcast is where I really became a fan tho. Had NO idea she rode bikes, super cool!
You hang in there Jay for as long as you have to. The main thing is your health! My friend is a long-time Harley rider. On one of his, he had the FRAME CHROMED!! It cost him $900 and that was after a huge amount of preparation that he did, for them to even consider it. This means sanding every square millimeter down to the metal, etc. or the chrome won't stick. Here's to Harley and Jay, two American institutions! 🍻 ❤🤍💙
I used to ride dirt bikes as a kid, but would never ride a street bike. You see, in most cases it's not the rider, it's the person in a car who's not paying attention and cuts off the rider. Years ago I worked with someone rode (past tense) Harley's. I told him I didn't particularly care for the extreme noise pollution that many street bikes emit. He said that one of the benefits of that loud noise is it calls attention to the bike, thus was kind of a safety feature. That really stuck with me over the years. I ran into him again before he retired a few years ago, and he said he doesn't ride anymore - because he saw too many friends who either died from or were seriously injured from street riding. At nearly 60, I've also known too many people that have either died or been injured riding street bikes. Why the lengthy post on this video - because electric street bikes, no matter how cool, are nearly silent to other drivers at speeds above normal suburban speed limits. I don't want to ruin anyone's fun, but I would strongly caution anyone against it. Get an electric dirt bike and enjoy the quite of the outdoors instead. PS: Katee is pretty cool though - although she looks better with long hair.
'Loud pipes save lives' is an advertising slogan the aftermarket exhaust manufacturers came up with. It's one thing to be noticed, it's another to be an annoyance and a nuisance to everyone around.
Partly because of her great performance but also because she was written as a 3 dimensional person. No Mary Sue in sight. I think a lot of Gender swaps would fly if the writing was better.
I only know her from Big Bang Theory, but I can here because of bikes. Too bad Harley is constantly losing money with the Livewire. Cool concept, but I just picked up a commuter bike used for $2750 that gets 65 mpg. Hard to justify an EV.
Disney gets more street 'cred' for the space princess's garage, over the BSG days, but at 1:41, that composition left to right, is time travel. Reclip this, for the numbers. It's worthy. Petrol pumps at Jays back, while Katee's modern use of the fuel is rugged, sophisticated, and then the edit moves to livewire. Literally, the realization of a bsg1980 update. Set pieces, electric bikes. And Jay Leno could pull off 'bridge officer,' in a heartbeat. Takes one back.✨🤜🤛 Thank you, Livewire!
That was a fracking awesome interview! The bikes, not so much. If you're heavy on the throttle you won;t be going 145 miles, and then you'll have to charge it for 45 minutes. No wonder they don't sell many.
Jay with your influence why not establish Nationwide Auto Museums run by Veterans; Name different wings of the museums after our Metal of Honor recipients. You & Seinfeld can get donated cars from old guys who passed away and their families are left with the cars.
The recharge time of 45 minutes is the same as a 2010 Nissan LEAF. If you look at electric cars that are currently in productions the VW ID.7 has a recharge time of 25 minutes and KIA have a recharge time of 18 minutes. If someone would build a motorbike with the Polestar batteries and then a bike with a recharge time of 10 minutes is a bike you could ride all day. You just have to stop every hour and a half or two hours for a 10 minute recharge.
It's entertaining to see a couple of celebs chatting and riding. But on a flop like the Livewire? Harley projected sales of 100,000 units by 2026 but as of today they've only sold 1,700. And it's stock price which started out about $10 dollars has sunk to $6.50 so unless the Chinese firm Kymco which is a partner in this wants to continue throwing money at it, I don't think it will survive. It's over priced and you can get a whole lot more motorcycle for your money by just buying a gasoline version of a Harley.
Well it’s about one year later and LiveWire is barely staying afloat only selling about a tenth of the 15,000 bikes they were projected to sell in 2024. They will most likely me the next electric motorcycle company to file bankruptcy.
Electric motorcycles will NEVER take off. Just watch the money that is lost in this pursuit. People don’t want them and they are NOT environmentally friendly at all. Take a look at lithium and cobalt mines in third world countries.
Right, we didn't talk about mileage because that's not what were selling are we. A $30,000 commuter is what we have, a gimmick really. There is a reason Harley Davidson distanced itself from the electric bike. The problem with electric is the battery and trying to charge it faster and faster. Batteries do not like heat. Hot weather for batteries is an issue, cold weather for batteries is an issue, quick charging batteries is an issue(heat), material gathering to make the batteries is an issue, the handling of the materials is an issue and the disposal of all spent material is the biggest issue of all. The sound of these, is not unlike the turbine sound used for the bikes in the 80's BSG series. Seems appropriate.

That sounds pretty lame abd boring, all chromed out... waste of 900 imo but to each there own, so long as the rider is happy.

AGREED! Katie's characters earn their way with their actions - not just exposition about off-camera deeds.
