The wear on the optic is from the spent casings hitting it when they are ejected. Great video!
does the x5 front sight, co witness the romeo 1 pro?
Great video. Even better watch choice. I used to have the polar explorer. Great watch.
Me too. Black ceramic and ceramic bluesy. West the black sub almost everyday. It’s just THAT good
I was wondering if you could do me a quick favor? I'm trying to pick up a CR Speed WSMII holster for my Legion -- they have a Model Specific version for the X5, but since it really receives and locks on the trigger guard, would you be able to measure the width of the trigger guard on the X5 and the Legion? I can't find any other way to find this information!
John, what holsters have you found that will fit with the optic mounted? Even though the US Army selected Safariland, their fitment app finds no holsters with the R1+ mounted. Annoying, to say the least. Thanks for your thoughts / recommendations.
bgbrix3 - Most guys out there shooting these guns are going to use a custom-made Kydex holster. The one I’m currently shooting with comes from Red Hill Tactical.
bgbrix3 - definitely competition. I’m only 5‘7“ tall…not a great carry choice for me.
Do you use the Sig Legions for your CCW? I've got a P229 SAO and Jesus it is amazing. I'm sure Sig will release a slide I can get for it that has the Romeo 1 pro on it (they already do for normal Romeo 1). Thinking if it is worth it to me or just wait for the Romeo 2.
The Hi-Viz sights are pretty sweet though.
John Lovelace - I just have the Legion X-Five, which I don’t use for CCW. I use both the P365 and XL for CCW.
John ThruMyLens id say give that p229 sao a look. I know you like polymers but that is one sweet trigger. Thanks for the review on this optic
John Lovelace - thanks for that. I do have a 226 for giggles, but I only carry striker fired guns. Not a fan of DA/SA. 🤷♂️
John ThruMyLens I’m not either. Check out the p229 legion single action only. You may like that
Who makes that red mag/base? It it an accessory base that attaches to a standard P320 mag or is it a complete aftermarket magazine?
Jacob R - Taran Tactical Innovations. They are one of my sponsors next year.
Hey John, how did you mount your Romeo 1 on your legion without an optic plate?
Can you rack the slide by gripping the Romeo One Pro? Or will this throw off the zero?
Hello, I have a P320 X5 and Romeo 1 pro doesn’t fit on the slide. In the video I saw you had it fitted, can you or anyone help to explain? Thanks
The Romeo 1Pro only fits the Legion X-Five, not the previous generation X-Five.
I salute you sir, great video! 👌🏻 👍🏻
Hello sir,
Great review thanks! Quick question, can you cowitness with that rear notch in the optic? This would be my first red dot sight and I also have the xfive legion with the stock front sight on it.
Thanks again!
Chris Goglia
Chris Goglia - you can use the notch in conjunction with the front sight in the event that you can’t or don’t want to use the red dot. You do not “ co-witness the front sight with the red dot.
I see you have the front fiber optic site and the notch on the Romeo. Could you use them to cowitness?
Axis T23 - you can use the notch in conjunction with the front sight in the event that you can’t or don’t want to use the red dot. You do not “ co-witness the front sight with the red dot.
Thank you for info and clarification on my wording. I am new to all of this.
You do an excellent job with your videos. Question here; at the beginning of your video you held up an X5 with vented trigger over the other x5 and said on this previous x5. Is the vented trigger an older model x5 or the new model x5. Reason asking I was looking To purchase the x5 and wanted to make sure what one was newer. I recently purchased the X5 carry model in December 2019 and it came without the vented or lighted slide now a solid slide and a completely different case than the other one purchased a month or so ago. Called sig and they did away with the cut out on the slide. Now provide a different case for the gun. No cut out for the gun mags or lock. Just wanted to clarify what is the new x5 (vented trigger) or the solid trigger gun.
John ThruMyLens Hi John so you have the Romeo 1 on the legion x 5 not the pro correct. And have the pro on the standard x5. Some others comment on UA-cam about the romeo1 or pro the small vent on the slide right in front of the red dot emit gases from firing about 50 rounds or so and fog up the vision on the red dot lenses. Has that happened to you.
George Kuzyk - ok, so now I see the confusion. The stock legion trigger is vented. But I often shoot my Legion with the FCU from my other X-Five - it has a Gray Guns competition trigger. That’s why it looks “different.”
As soon as I retire to Arizona, I will be buying one of these.
I took off the romeo1 ...is there a plate i can order to cover the two screw holes??
drb_ superior - put the rear sight plate of the X-Five back on. Didn’t you have to take it off to put Romeo on in the first place?
Thanks for the recommendation and link for the foam cleaners. Ordering them now. I assume you haven't found anything better or you'd be recommending those. :)
@@ThruMyLens100 Not finding the foam cleaning rods, or sticks on rangestore.net?

@john thrumylens where did you get that tin barrel from
Bigvik81 - if you look just a couple of reviews back on this channel, you’ll see the work was performed by Taran Tactical Innovations. 😎
Would the romeo 1 pro fit on a sig sauer x carry?
mario the great - I don’t believe it will yet. I think SIG will eventually transition all of their models to the Romeo 1Pro.
John ThruMyLens yes it will.....it’s literally a package they sell. I have one and so do many others. And you keep the rear sight to cowitness
@@HorsepowerPonies ok thanks my heart is set on this weapon. Just waiting for all this covid-19 to blow off. So I can make my order
What moa did you go with on the 1pro
@@ThruMyLens100 why did you over the 3 moa. I would use mine for target and competition shooting which would be better 3 or 6
SCOTT MCDOWELL - conventional wisdom says that you can pick up a larger dot at speed easier and more quickly than a smaller one. A smaller thathelps you make a more precise shot, but that level of precision really isn’t required in the practical shooting sports. I do run a 3 MOA dot and on the Trijicon RMRs mounted to my defensive pistols.
@@ThruMyLens100 cool thanks. Where did you get yours at I can't find anyone that has them
Not once did you compare the optics turned on. Why?
Rafael De Leon - actually they are turned on. Just not bright enough to be seen relative to the bright lights in my light box. I suppose I could have cranked the dot brightness, but video representation of red dots is poor - it looks nothing like what a red dot really looks like in real life. So I never even bother trying to show a dot on camera, much less compare it.
Why do they make all these awesome pistols that you have to remove the open sights to add red dots. If I could keep my open sights I would have a red dot on every gun I own but I’m not taking my open sights off just to have a cool red dot.
Norman De George - you realize you don’t use red dots and iron sights together right? Most defensive pistols will incorporate both systems so that you will have usable iron sights if the dot fails. But there is no such need on a competition gun.
Nice
Do you think that they will update the p229 legion RX with the romeo 1 pro, will they release a compatible slide with the pro fitted so it can be replaced or can I get it swapped at a gun shop? I haven't gotten one yet, I want the p229 to be my first ccw and with the short battery life of the romeo 1 I'm torn between the base legion model and the RX. The pro would make that decision a lot easier, but I'd have to be able to get my hands on one for the p229. Any thoughts or general knowledge would be welcome as well.
Cytamis - I think it’s reasonable to assume that eventually SIG will either a make a legion 22x with the new footprint, or make a version of the Romeo 1 Pro with the old footprint. If it were me, and I HAD to carry a Legion 229 (not recommended), I would buy a non-RX version and have the slide milled to accept the optic of my choosing - the Trijicon RMR would be my first choice. Alternatively you could purchase an adapter plate for the RX version from Springer Precision.
@@ThruMyLens100 Ok that's good information to know. As I am new to this I didn't know if it was easy or not to have the gun milled for my own purposes. If you wouldn't mind me asking, why would you not recommend the legion 229 for carry?
Cytamis - I’m an NRA Certified Instructor and have hundreds of hours in training and competition. The P229 isn’t a bad gun per se, but there are better options. I personally don’t recommend a DA/SA gun for beginners - their operation is complex relative to a striker fired gun. The 229 will also be heavier than other options. Look at the SIG P320 line, M&P 2.0, or even a Glock. Light, reliable, and simple to use.
@@ThruMyLens100 ok that's really good to know, I'm hoping to take some classes beforehand so then I wouldn't be as much of a beginner before carrying. I want to be able to ensure the safety of myself and others, not be a cause for danger. But the only classes I can find near me (near/in cass county, MO) require you to be 21 to take, meanwhile the age for conceal carry is 19. Hopefully I can get that figured out as soon as possible, sorry for the long comments. If you have more tips I'd love to hear them, but I don't want to be annoying about it. All is appreciated. :)
Cytamis - sorry to hear that you’re having difficulty finding training. It’s probably an insurance thing at the ranges you’ve tried. Have a look at this link: www.nrainstructors.org/search.aspx
You might do better trying to find a private instructor on this site that would be willing to work with you.
My legion x5 has rmr screw holes too.
The older romeo 1 will not fit on the X5 legion, correct?
@@ThruMyLens100 sorry to necro but will the newer romeo1 pro fit on the original x5 slide?
👍🏿
The Romeo seems to have alot of splash to it. Maybe that's just an empty opinion but it is what it is
Nice Polar!,

It's LOO-Poled, not Lee-Uh-Pold.

I'm in the market for a red dot for my Sig Sauer P32O AXG PRO...why do you recommend the sig over the leopold red dot ?
