Nice upgrade, John! You'll see the benefits of this for a long time to come.
Thanks for the vid!
Thank you, Mike, for the continuous support!
I added the Revmax valvebody to my 2008 2500, I also added the Revmax trans computer. This takes advantage of the valvebody advantages like higher line pressure. Your truck needs the computer updated/tuned for the new valvebody to take advantage of the higher line pressure & altered shift schedule. It makes enough difference you may wonder if it's the same trans, much better. I only mention this as you didn't mention tuning for the trans.
Appreciate it I’ll have to look into it!
does tuning a stock trans help a lot as well?
@@nate.hanlon Tuning a stock trans helps a ton. Don’t got any higher than 170psi on line pressure until you get a better valve body.
Had the same 4th gear problem. Shops had no idea. Changed the ATF and noticed the plug was not seated right on the driver's side of tyranny. Pins weren't aligned and seated properly. Problem solved.
nice update. Ive done cat filter mod from black market, arp studs, my 5th position tune isnt as hot as yours. Next is baks horn/heater/intake then ill tackle the 68rfe. I like the turbo sound
What’s the cat filter mod??
Awesome video dude! Great explanation on the trans upgrades.
Thanks! Always afraid of making vids like these.. don’t want them to be too boring 🤣
I don’t have the 68rfe but I do have the 66rfe in the gas truck and you are doing exactly the same as me. The only thing I’m not doing is the deep pan. The valvebody and solenoid pack is the weak link in these trans.
And yes you probably could have done the work yourself. It a fairly easy easy job to do if you have the space to do it inside. This will be my second truck doing it on and probably completed it in a about an hour. The thermal bypass is a trans saver and a must to do on the rfe trans.
Thanks for watching!
You should get a tripple disk they make night and day differnce when towing but all diesels should have a egt gauge especially one that has a tune.
2022 ram 2500 deleted, 22k miles with p2704 , 0 initial fill volume but does get instantaneous fill volume for 4c
Kind of does a flare shift. Ordered the same valvebody... i hope it fixes it.
Just ordered all the same shit from ats since mine did the po755 code last week. I’ll report back after I get some miles under it. My 2022 has 118k miles and climbing
Woah 2022 with almost 200k!?! You live in that thing!?
@@JohnWargo93 lol pretty much. Knock out about 5k a week
@@yellow04 that’s awesome! Definitely report back!
Any update running ats stuff?
update??
Where did you get your truck delete at. I just bought a 19 2500 and I’m looking to get mine done. I’m from Ellwood city PA.
Nice ! I have exactly 2021 RAM 2500 like yours, I got code P0871 but I deleted it with OBD reader and never came back, also the gears shift up and down with no problem.
I learned from RevMax that if I change the solenoid, I have to do a "pi curve relearn", but I cannot find this process from your video.
Or you just changed the valve body but keep the old solenoid?
I have done the same delete so I dont want to put back for warranty...
I bought a solenoid pack from Revmax as well. And yes, had to perform the PI Relearn. It’s done with dealer software. Thankfully my diesel shop had access.
@@JohnWargo93 Yes, that my headache now.....
How were you able to update the line pressure per revmax to 225? CTT went silent. And I was told a new blue Solenoid pack would have to be flashed to the truck. I’d like to talk to the shop that did your work!…butler’s. I have a Randy’s dealer in my area and want to get this done asap! Thanks for sharing your experience man. I’m pretty much right behind you with my 21 build. Wanna see how this works for you!
You have an Instagram or Facebook I can private message?
Would like some info as well. Have all the same issues and same things done to my 19. I don’t have a Facebook or instagram.
@@jessyfew9631 I’m thinking it’s just gonna take time. I’m thinking maybe ram needs to do a quick relearn from their 50k$ device. I’m just scared to let them anywhere near my OBD. Or it’s tuning which is gonna take time for enough of us to complain about. I was also thinking of calling calibrated power or PPEI who only do emissions compliant tuning, but they invest big money into tuning and may have some insight.
Mine is getting ridiculous with dropping into 4th gear at 70 mph. It is happening every 500ish miles now. I have all the weight loss parts on mine. I have thought about having the recall done where they replace the valve body separator and then reflash the truck to see what happens. Not much difference from 18’s to 19’ except tuning and new facelift from what I understand. I do agree with you about letting them plug into the obd… I’d rather people with actual knowledge be the ones to do that. I’m not sure if you guys are having this issue or not but it has a tap to it as well. Almost as if the lifters are tapping. It’s done it since 10k miles and doesn’t seem to be getting better or worse. I use the cummins endorsed oil every time but use 15w40. I believe the book calls for 5w30 or something close. I will try switching it next time to see if that helps but I have my doubts. I baby this truck for a deleted truck no burnouts ect just pull trailers but not pushing it at all when it comes to hills just letting the truck do its thing. Sad we all spend 50k-80k+ and are having so many issues
@@jessyfew9631 hey man you MUST use 10w30 unless it’s below 32 degrees on the norm and it calls for 5w40. Numerous people who run these 5th gens attest to that. Check out PD Diesel power’s UA-cam channel. He had a fleet of 5th gens for hotshot and says 10w30 is what they need. This should quieten or get rid of the tapping. It will happen for the first 10% of a fresh oil change mainly at high idle due to the nature of the hydraulic lifters. After that mine goes away running Valvoline premium blue 10-30. I’ll find the video and post a link
Camera seems fine, iknow a lot of youtubers use a default go pro
when should i upgrade mine ? i have brand new 23 2500 with the 68. only 1700km just curious though always ready to bullet proof my rig
Stock trucks shouldn’t have any issues like this.. once you start pushing power I’d recommend an upgrade!
How did you find a good job to do this job for you
Just curious, did they do a transmission relearn? Or is your truck relearning as you drive for the 500 miles. Nice video
Did a proper PI relearn through the dealer software
@@JohnWargo93did it help?
@@jacknelson156 I’m about 26k in after this and she’s running well. Shifts quick and precise.
I was trying to find your video of the headlight install. What fuse did you tap in I have a 2022 ram 2500
Do you have an IG? Can send you the photo of which one! Honestly can’t remember the number but have a photo of it.
Hows it working for you after 4 months of run time. Worth it feeling?
Honestly it’s pretty nice. Shifts a lot quick and definitely feels more stout. I’m happy with it. Also. Trans never gets above like 155 degrees towing. Stays around 135ish just daily driving empty.
Good to know. I'm looking at doing something very similar but on a smaller budget. Thanks for the data.
Running it too cool will cause it to build up moisture in it. Water and transmission fluid don't mix.
Any water build up will steam off and vent out. 200 is too hot for vapor to hang around
@@daveoschann1538 yes, why I made the comment. Some people think running it as cool as possible is a good idea, it's not.
Awesome dude 😎
Heck yes 🤘🏼
F the neighbors. They don’t pay your bills bro! 😂
Love the sound!
Hah you right!! Thanks man!!
Dude,,,what turbo you have in there?
Stonk one for now 👌🏼
Where are you located.will this fix a OP871 code
PA. Honestly I would assume so. The new valve body will be able to handle the higher transmission line pressures.
@@JohnWargo93 how much was the valve body?
@@gabrielsalazar6648 like $1500 from RevMax but I also did a deep pan, new solenoid pack, thermal bypass, and more. So I was in a little over $3k in total.
@@JohnWargo93 thank you
What was cost from start to finish for everthing?
For all the RevMax stuff plus an OEM solenoid pack I’m $3100 deep
@@JohnWargo93 - Thanks for the quick response. Was that including install?
@@lyricalprophet100 yes sir that’s with labor!
Who makes a 200hp tune for the 5th gen? Nobody I have found. Most stop at 150hp
CTT. Mines are as follows:
1. +30
2. +60
3. +90
4. +150
5. +200
Optimal Welding tunes also have tune 5 at 200hp
@@TREXGAMES42 thank you
how much to do the upgrade ?
Full shebang was around $2k
You get a thumbs up for the "ram is stupid" comment 😂
Your problems could be from
“POWER BRAKING”
This 5th gen in other videos like your running 1/4 mile drag race!
You guys that have no idea how diesels operate just think their meant to over rev & stay in full boost out alone power brake and swing converter around like fools’
But hey, your truck and very entertaining
Ehhhh I bought a $70k truck imma play with it a little bit here and there 🤘🏼 but in reality this truck lives a pretty boring life. UA-cam sees the literal 1% of its life purely for entertainment. I bought this truck knowing that the trans is the weakest link and that I’ll be putting $10k or so into a built one some day. We’ll see!
It took 4 to 5 hours to replace a shift pack solenoid? I can pull the transmission out and replace the overdrive clutches which is the main issue not the shift pack solenoid, 8 hours with beer to do the entire rebuild mine has over a million miles and is an 08 3500 deleted insane I think your booty should be bleeding on a 4 to 5 hour shift pack solenoid that’s only a 15 minute job drain remove pan remove solenoid replace solenoid replace pan fill and done
Cant hear you over the obnoxious drone.
