-------------------------------------------------------------------------- GRAB YOUR STARFINDER DISCOUNTS HERE! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- miniaturemarket.com/starfinder Thank you Miniature Market for sponsoring Starfinder Week. Without your help I wouldn't have been able to make all of these videos. You guys and gals simply rock!
I would like to point out that you can hold a melee weapon and a ranged weapon in either hand, and choose which one to use for each attack. You don't necessarily need to worry about action economy assuming that both are single handed weapons.
Or just attach a bulk 1 melee weapon as a heavy bayonet to a heavy weapon. If you choose an operative weapon then you can use your Dex for both, eliminating any need for Strength or weapon switching. Naturally the damage dice for bulk 1 operative melee weapons are designed to be quite a lot lower than strength melee weapons though.
I have already created a Vesk soldier who uses the Doshko and a Light Cannon for the next campaign. I love the star finder classes and races. There is not a bad one in the bunch. All the rules are streamlined and the pick and play system makes it easy to create and customize a character quickly.
Soldier sounds like exactly the class a buddy of mine will play once we roll up PCs. Feats every single level. lol. Very cool. I shared your video to him.
I just wanted to say thank you for all the information on starfinder. It's really helped me along the way with being a game master. As well as showing me miniature market. I use it for everything. I even come to your videos and click your links on purpose when I go to buy something new. Your amazing keep up the amazing work.
I can easily see the Vesk becoming the generic or actual stormtrooper types for the Starfinder game. Whether they're elite soldiers from the Veskearium or 'hardskins' (my new starfinder slang term for soldier/mercenaries), this will be the new cool class for those who love the fighter-types. Of course, every PC race is going to have some damn cool variations using this theme as well.
Soldier seems like a very versatile class it really allows the players to have a lot of options with it. Wonder how quickly Roll20 will get a character sheet out, been really using roll20 a lot lately with my games. Keep up the content, i'll be sure to be back here everyday to hear your take on every thing, Thanks!
@@InkWarrior bayonet brackets are in the game. you attach any 1 handed weapon under your small/longarm. if you attach a slash or bludgeoning weapon instead of a piercing, you take a -2 to attack
While I don't think it's the most powerful style, I really like Hit-and-Run just simply because I love switch hitters. As far as action economy goes, I think that gauntlet weapons work real well for the Hit-and-Run. While gauntlet weapons wont give as much damage as a two-handed weapons it allows you to easily switch between ranged and melee weapons AND allows you to wield a longarm in the hand with gauntlet.
Going with bombard here. Going to also buy a bunch of grenades and engineer them together with a detonator. Character concept = Vinny from Atlantis. Thoughts?
Been watching some of your Starfinder videos (which have been great) and my only complaint so far is the audio balance is terrible. I have my volume on my phone all the way up and it's still really quiet and difficult to hear with any background noise in the room
As a fan of fighter classes the soldier looks quite appealing, just for fun tho I imagine I play against type a little, playing something like a Ysoki, most likely with the sharp shooter style.
Will you be covering what rollplay mechanics the game has? kind of like what D&D 5e has with bonds, flaws, etc.? Thank you! and really enjoying these videos.
We starting a new Kampagne with my pathfinder group ... and we changed zo starfinder.. but it will be my first time of starfinder.... so my question: what is the best race for a ranged soldier ?? Or which race Suits the ranged soldier (DEX) most?
So question: how do I determine the Misc Mod for a soldier? I'm watching these videos and reading the book at the same time while building a character, but haven't seen or heard where to find that one number. Could someone please help? I would be extremely appreciative!
The soldier gains weapon proficiency in basic and advanced melee weapons small arms longarms heavy weapons sniper weapons grenades. At lvl 3 they get class feature, "Weapon Specialization"; same as every class, that gives you the Weapon Specialization as a bonus feat for each weapon type this class grants you proficiency with. The Weapon Specialization feat specifically says you cannot gain specialization in grenades. So which is right? Do you get to add your character level to damage done with grenades? or not?
The first character I’m making is a soldier of fortune type guy that dislikes droids or robots. My friend is playing an android so we’re going to have some fun arguments in game.
are there different versions? I read some of the player's handbook and there the bombard description says you can have only self made grenade at any given time
My gm tweaked that for me, he let me make/keep as many as I want, takes ten min per grenade, and have to have ready access to materials I can’t just make them out of thin air. So it’s similar but we both thought that having a grenade become a dud when you make another one doesn’t make sense and also he is expecting me to bring a lot of boom to the game.
You get one swift action in a round, and only if you are not taking a 'full round action'. Specifically, you get one move action, one standard action AND one swift action in a round.

I made a Human Soldier, Background - Ace Pilot, Primary fighting style - Sharpshooter. Name = Juan Redshirt.
I see what you did there... ;-)

Definitely I'm going to roll up a traveling conman who sells boxes of defective grenades
😂 Sell them to mercs and gangs, probably will net you a nice plot hook of everyone you ripped off chasing after you.

amazing that after 4 years Taking 20 is still the best place for info for it
Great presentation!
First time a tabletop RPG has made the fighter type class interesting to me :D I might play one now!

Dip into one level of what now? 13:00
Edit: Let me add, I am such a huge fan.
Really enjoyed ur soilder info, would u be able to put together one for a necromancer.
So Armor Storm = Iron Man? Either way, i'm in! Also, Bombard's free grenade sounds absolutely bananas.
My friend ended up wanting to play an awakened Squirrel cyborg, so I reskinned the Ysoki to fit it.
Are there bayonets or options for using a ranged weapon in melee?
Jim Davis you guys gonna cover this?
Trojanman441 probably not. We don’t play pathfinder, and while Pru and I both own SF, neither of us are eager to get back into a 3.x based game.
So is it an option of fixing a Bayonet?
As a DM I'd allow a bayonet on a rifle to be used in melee but you can't fire the weapon if you use the bayonet

Got my beginner box on the way.

Corey dageek I don't see any so far.

For hit and run do they have bayonets in the game?

basic and advanced melee weapons
small arms
longarms
heavy weapons
sniper weapons
grenades.

Solitus Seems to indicate no, you can't specialize in grenades.
Does improved initiative stack with Blitz? I can't find the type of bonus to see if they stack or not.

My only regret is that I won't be able to watch all these videos before I play Starfinder at Gen Con on Thursday.
If you're playing early Thursday, you'll still get 6 my man! hahaha
I'm going to be kind of busy Wed! It's along drive. See you there!
Wasn't able to bump up my flight at all.... So I'll get in late late Wednesday.
How many swift actions can you take a round?
You get one swift action in a round, and only if you are not taking a 'full round action'. Specifically, you get one move action, one standard action AND one swift action in a round.
All of the starfinder series videos are mute, none of the others are. What happened?
Sweet, don't have to go to DFC.
Making a soldier Android for my brother that only uses gernades and explosives
Armor Storm 100%
So low sound can't hear anything. Need to turn volume up to 90% to hear anything.
My guy kill use shotgun-like weapons as the party door kicker.
To much board game for my taste. Maybe i can mine the races for some ideas for my Stars without Number campaign.
