- The Modern Office from 1981! Just look at those vintage computers and machines. It's hard to believe that a modern office was like this once! We'll be having a chat with some of the staff that work in an office environment. Made in 1981 and recorded here in the Autumn Term 1984. Continuity includes Follows Shortly Slide with Music and Daytime On 2 Ident. From my own personal collection of video tapes. Uploaded for educational purposes only.

This was so interesting! Thanks for uploading. So much had changed in 40 years. I wonder what these people would think of us all working from home using Zooms and Teams.

Julie and I in the post room … phwoar! Apart from that she told me that her job was good training in trolley pushing for when we visited Sainsbury’s after work to buy our crispy pancakes for tea. Mmm … lovely!

Why is it hard to believe!!!! Everything has to start somewhere. Even with technology there is an evolution.
It's funny watching this 40 years on, now most of this looks antiquated.
They were still using typewriters and it was nearly the 90s. Wow
I learned how to touch type on a manual typewriter at secretarial college in the 1990s. I’m not sure if they still use them, but it’s the best way to start. I had to demonstrate my accuracy on paper before I could graduate to electric.

You mean the 1980s?
Companies in the past invested in money in order to implement staff in canteens. I believe presently there are certain large corporate office blocks that still have restaurants implemented within buildings. This is not unusual.
