My wife and I spent a few days visiting a friend on Andros, then flew in to Freeport the same day you took this video! I've got a couple of comments. First, I've never taken that kayaking trip you did, but this last trip we checked out the glass bottom kayaks at Paradise Cove, on the west end. It's not really like the trip you took on this video. You basically paddle around a large lagoon-like environment where a few dozen turtles keep residence. It's very cool! There's also a fairly tame large manta ray there. You can also snorkel there.I've been to Gold Rock a couple of times, I agree it's awesome! We spent a couple of weeks at the Island Seas resort and there's a stretch of beach near there that has similar conditions, where you can walk in water ankle deep for a ways and awesome tidal pools. Not near as large an area as Gold Rock, but a similar kind of beach and there's a couple of excellent beach-side restaurants right there. I also have been to the Garden of the Groves a couple of times, but not this most recent trip. That larger pond near the entrance? The first time I went there was a white rope stretching at least 70 feet across it from treetop to treetop. At least, I thought it was a rope until the guide told us it was actually all that was left of a monstrous spiderweb! This web was over an inch thick. And it was decades old. It's not there anymore but I still can't not think of what the spider that made it looked like! Finally, can I interest you in checking out a guided tour of North Andros, maybe later this year? My friend ran a very successful tour operation in Freeport for many years, and he's trying to start a similar tourist industry in a part of the Bahamas that has none to speak of, yet. He's offering kayak/snorkel day trips to an uninhabited island a few miles of shallow water off the northern tip of Andros, and/or guided bus tours of the various attractions of that part of the island. The baskets that the Bahamas are famous for are all made there. So are all those colourful batik shirts, at a factory called Androssian. There's significant pirate lore, with cave explorations that some say Captain Morgan had hidden treasure! And blue holes galore! And so on. I got the impression from this video that you would be interested in this kind of tourist adventure, off the beaten path and immersed more deeply in authentic Bahamian culture than anything else you'll find anywhere in the country. Get back to me if this interests you.
Wow some great information and truly appreciate it. If that was a spider web that Is insane. Usually we come in on a cruise ship and not much time there dir a full day tour but if i do i will definitely get in touch. I pinned this comment for the great information you provided and tips👍👍👍😁😁😁⛱⛱⛱🛳🛳🛳
We took a scooter ride on our honeymoon cruise and found this beach. Never knew it was so highly ranked. Thanks for bringing back the memories and the additional information. It was our first cruise together over 14 years ago. We have now done 18 so far with an additional 2 this summer.
Our best ever so far was in Cozumel. The Mayan ball game. No beach, but a beautiful walk through the forest and a whole bunch of Mayan history. Even though we visited the ruins in Belize I absolutely enjoyed it
Your video made us book! We are going next month and is a little concerned with high and low tide. About what time did you arrive at the beach? Thank you!
You will love gold rock beach. This is the best excursion ever. I want to hear about it when you get back. Every cruise ship will arrive differently. Have a great time👍👍🛳🛳
Wow… looking at doing a mini cruise to grand Bahama Freeport… Do you have any contact details and any additional information, allocated time, and costs, on the excursion you showed? as well as who to contact to organize the Gold Rock / kayak excursion? Looks Fabulous! Cheers, J&E
Here is a video on a day pass option in freeport. There is some detail info in description. ua-cam.com/video/embZnxQoryA/v-deo.html As far as thd3 kayak tour in the video i shot the logo when in the van that has contact info. That excursion if going on carnival can be booked from the ship. Hood that helps. 👍👍
It's about a 40 minute drive. We usually will get a taxi... usually the driver will stay with you while there and treat it like tour. That's what I would suggest. But would only suggest going at low tide. Otherwise it's not that pretty. But spectacular at low tide. 👌
Hi Maria. I would not suggest going alone... if you are going from a cruise ship I would take a tour that goes there. The one in the video is one of the best tours I ever did. That tour is for beginners and kayaker with all experience levels Cab will most likely cost 100 or 200 I would think. Plus you get so much more with this tour. Have a great time.
It's about 45 minute CAR ride and then kayak was about another 3 hours. Great excursion one of the best I ever did and have done many. A MUST DO TRIP 👍👍

Thank you so much for your kind words. No I was on the 8th of February. Did you like your cruise and the legend?
@@AlongForTheJourney I had a good time
Hi! Do you know how to reach Golden Rock beach from Gran Bahama? I will go with a cruise (margaritaonthesea) and we will stop at Gran Bahama.

@@AlongForTheJourney thank you! And do you know how much can cost? I know that they are pretty expensive and I'm alone 🫣
