Can you play "Can't touch this - MC Hammer" on this ?
Hi where can I find a theremin before to take lesson?
instablaster.
Imagine playing cant touch this on a theremin
I wanna marry you
While wearing the clothes ( you know the one)
you should be put in charge of the industry
it does sound like it was played with a theremin.
Wonder can she play MC Hammer xant touch this on this device
It would also be interesting to combine the theremin with sign language
Interesting suggestion! Maybe even create a sign-to-sound instrument so that the rest of us can understand what's being said..
So deaf people would get nothing out of it but hearing people would get… also nothing out of it?
@@user-qv2qf1jk5o or it could be a way for blind and deaf people to communicate (I know this is unrealistic, but it’s interesting to think about)
It might just be interesting to see what certain words sound like when signed

Oh wow! I have never heard of theremin before. And now I am absolutely blown away by its magical sound and the physics behind it! 🖤
Yeah! Theremin is a wonderful instrument wich can be played on many different ways. That so beautiful with it. You can challange yourself to learn the Carolines technic but you may also just follow your ear to play along - I saw many many thereminist who are playing in many many different ways.
i dont even have a theremin but this is really good information for anyone wanting a simple introduction into it. extremely informative.
Super cool :) Nice to see a picture of my country in the background
Finding place in music literature for defining notes and making it possible to write music for the theremin B)
Glad to know a famous person like you that early X))
Theremin is so ahead of his time
It was actually first created in 1920! Though it was called an Etherphone
50 k subs woohoo Congratulations!
Yikes, the closest I've ever been to doing this is when using the floating right hand position in my bass guitar, and I still couldn't wrap my head around it, but this? This is beyond hard. Much love from spain!

I have gone down a rabbit hole of strange instruments. First the talkbox and now this, how deep does it go I wonder?
waaaaay deeper than that
Check out the dude who plays the hurdy gurdy---with double kick drums. It's about to get deeper.
Fascinating! ✨🙌
Theremin in Christmas 😍🎄🎄
I want one! This is so cool
You are amazing. Great teaching video !!
Wow! That is amazing! How cool! Thank you for sharing this video with everyone. Did you invent the 'language' of hand movements for this instrument? Or does everyone have their own terms for the hand movements they do?
Hi! Some theremin players use different techniques, but yes, this technique was invented by me :) Thanks for your comment!
Phenomenal!
It sounds so cool!!!
So in sense its almost like playing the trombon, that you find a position, and then you try to do it over and over again.... I mean Trombon is in sense having the same problem as theremin. There is no real stop at any tone and you has to kinda feel or use your eyes to know and ears to hear what they are.
I saw Myrtle Snow play this in AHS: Coven and thought she was using magic, but a contactless instrument really does exist 😂
what sorcery is this devil instrument???!!!
It's ze dark megic, tho it zoundz peaceful ja ?
Or ghost trapped in a box 🤣

@@mochimoni1975 😂😂😂
Damn thats so cool. I wish I understood music theory and had perfect pitch, then I'd totally get one of these guys (which I have no room for lol)
sleuthed you don’t need either to play a theremin. You just need practice
I would like to see minor, as well as melodic and harmonic minor. I would also like to see how you modulate keys in a piece as well as how you switch between 2+ octaves
I just received a small, rectangular theremin for Christmas. It has an antennae, but not the other component being utilized with the left hand. I can't seem to find any videos or information on this type of minimal theremin. Is it possible anyone here can guide me in the right direction? And thank you Carolina for sharing your talent and wisdom
That's a single antennae theremin. A popular one is the Zep Theremin, there are some videos of people playing on one of those.
It's basically a budget Theremin without the volume control (the horizontal antennae) so it's good for playing long bow notes (like violins), sustained notes, etc.
You can modify it for adding the missing volume control but if you're not a fan of electronic, you'll have a bad time with it. Have fun!
A large house plant near our theremin changed its pitch.
que legal o istrumento eu nunca tinha conhesido esse estrumento
Hey, thanks for the video, where can buy that instrument, i need a quick answer
this is absolutely fantastic ! What would be a good theremin for beguiner ?
:) please have a look here: www.carolinaeyck.com/faq
A BEGUINER? LOL
hi I have a theremini but the pitch is very unsteable i dont know if it is my lack of practice or what.
Cool that seems like robot dance, wow that means theremin is not only an instrument, but a dance teacher.
Thanks! Ever since Barry Gray used one back in the 1960s I've been wondering how it was played.
Theremin is the hardest instrument to play. Hands down. Does it sound amazing? Yes. Is it rewarding to play? I can't speak from experience, but I imagine it is.
hands down
hands down you don't hear anything, maybe that's your problem
What is happening with the left hand? (Nice video🎉)
Excelente presentación amiga.
Do you need to be sort of eccentric to play the theremin?
Hi Carolina. Do some covers. Like you did with ecstasy of gold.
Please do Deborah's theme.
Cool!
I have a partially fused right wrist. Since it doesn’t bend fully, would I not be able to play?
The magic of the theremin is that there is no fixed technique or specific movement that you have to do in order to play; these are simply suggestions to make it easier. You can still adapt the technique to your own possibilities. I know some theremin players who have injuries and are still able to play very well, so please don’t let this discourage you :)
What’s the name of this so I can buy?
Where can I get one?
👍la mano abierta= 8 va
De sonido.....mano derecha, la que ofrece, lado electrico.
Diferencia entre cada vortice una 8va de sonido. Interesante.
Saludos.
What made you want to play this instrument??
Every Sci- Fi Movie in the fifties used the Theremin to add suspense and fear and the most famous example of this was "The Day The Earth Stood Still" (1951) and normally when Gort the giant Robot was about to do something ua-cam.com/video/K6iF5sINVns/v-deo.html
Also used for the Theme to "Midsomer Murders" ua-cam.com/video/YTZK9FNgK74/v-deo.html
I dont know why but this instrument is hilariously strange. LOL!
U r amazing!!
Which brand theremin is this? Is this custom made?
It’s a Moog Etherwave Pro. It’s not custom made, but it’s not produced anymore 😐
I would like to hear Freebird on the theremin. !!
Simplesmente 💯 sacional valeuuuuuuuu

Thank you for that. I'm off to the man cave now to build one.
Do you have perfect pitch?
Hannibal Buress turned me on to this amazing instrument!
Me too lol. Thats how i got here
Angelic
isn't it dangerous for your health since it uses magnetic frequencies?
Not at all! 100% safe :)
Do John the Fisherman
There is a reason I play Mandolin instead of Fiddle. I need a theremin with frets.
Then just buy a harp lol :D
My theremini will not tune, crackling like a retired lab beagle with popcorn lung and has so much distortion I think it’s been damaged in transit, honestly I’m at my wits end 😢
CAN YOU PLAY ASTRONOMIA ON THE THEREMIN?
Who wants a theremin? I’m selling mine it hasn’t been touched.
I do!
@@thirdeyetruth ...
Am I the only one who gets the joke?
Great one
@@braeeee_ The irony of this is the fact their name is "thirdeyetruth" LOL.
I saw your name in the credits for Red Dead Redemption 2, I was like "hey I watch her videos on youtube!" congrats on the gig.
That's dope, what piece did she play or help with?
I couldn't find a specific song she was credited for but she is listed among Musicians for her work with the theremin. Could've been for ambient noise or sound effects. It's funny though cause the first video I saw of her was The Ecstacy of Gold cover.
@@Artyom1247 That's really cool. I would have never thought that Carolina would do a gig with RDR2. I think her Ecstasy of Gold cover is her most popular video. I fell in love with her cover. It's 10/10 IGN. 👌
woah
I'm probably never going to own a Theremin but I do find your videos fascinating :)
Ramón De Tabernas same
You can build one for quite cheap!
you don´t touch anything, except for my heart
fanjapanischermusik don’t mind me just liking it so all the likes will add up to 69
Bro...thats deep.
Aawww
Im 14 and this is deep
diabolical
Just found out this existed today. Once again shows me why the world we live in is so intriguing and worth living.
Same thing, that's science and universe. Absolutely mind blowing.
You can hear it a lot in the background music in vintage Sci-Fi / horror movies
This is going to sound really strange...but I love the map of Iceland on your wall 😅
I like listening to you play; hopefully someday I can experiment with one of these!
I never touched this thing in years!
Get it?
Haha
Twoset needs to do a reaction video on this instrument!!!
people need to stop doing reaction videos and jus suck people off for money in alleys... same thing.
Just got a theremini for birthday. Your videos are most helpful and inspiring, thanks a lot.
That is so cool
I also have a theremini. I want to get back to practice now.
I have been playing cello for multiple years but I have also wanted to play two instruments for a long time. The theremin and pretty much any jazz instrument have been on my wishlist for a long time now.
So, did you stick with it?
@@Sarah-oj7bh Not really, as an instrument. But it's a fun gadget and we fool around with it, sometimes.
I would like one Christmas this year! I’ll ask my mom and dad for one, it’s so cool. I’m really into song writing and I have my key board but I think this would kick it up a notch. It’s seems difficult but so is everything else when it’s new right? I’ll learn and I will use these videos to help me learn if I get one
i am extremely curious and would like to request a video of you.
“how italians play the theremin”, then you properly do The Gesture and i shall request the sound that is generated to be the new national anthem.
...and now for the chromatic notes in between! lol Just purchased a B3 theremin and will receive it by the middle of January 2019. Eager to learn and this video helped a lot. It is really what I needed to learn first.
How is learning the B3 going?
Well I have to tell you it is not quite what I expected. I really need the theremin that you have, but I am sure that will be costly. This little thing ... all I can do is move my fingers of one hand to make the sounds....and right up to the box and antennae, so I was a bit disappointed. I still have it all in my wish list to accomplish.
That was incredibly helpful. I've played many different instruments from the organ to the viola and the theremin is just about the most alien instrument I've ever encountered.
Is anyone here from Outer Wilds Echoes of the Eye?
I thank life knowing you, I celebrate your talent and your kind disposition to teach us. A hug from Colombia
I was wondering about that this morning How does she find those invisible notes? And Wondering more -I would like to hear how sufi poem sounds in the air if possible:' Not a christian Not a mu
I would like to see minor, as well as melodic and harmonic minor. I would also like to see how you modulate keys in a piece as well as how you switch between 2+ octaves
Do you have any recommendations for brands to look for for absolute beginners in a $200-$300 budget. I want won the works well and won’t break after a few days basically :)
Please check my theremin suggestions for beginners! www.carolinaeyck.com/faq
maybe its just me being overconfident.. but i feel like this wouldnt be too difficult. its a bit like a trombone slide and just memorizing the slide positions, right?
Thank you Carolina, I am learning the theremin after years of playing classical piano, hoping to compose music for soundtrack with more theremin included
Oh wow! That hand movement looks a little robotic, so precise :D
So useful. Thank you. I bought a theremin one year ago and haven't tried it. I think I have been a little afraid after so many years of wanting one that I won't be able to achieve music with it. But I'm a trumpet player, and one only has the embouchure, the lungs, and three keys to work with on that instrument. Maybe I can do it. I know it took lots of years of practice for you to become so innovative and skilled. But this video has given me something to start with. And I understand how to tune a theremin now.
Thank You verry much ! Verry usefull !
Me watching this: hmm.. ok i will continue the guitar for now
I learned this in just two days thanks to your beautiful lessons! I’ve bought your book :) thank you so much for teaching so well!
I tried this ,my fingers cracked
I am planning to sell my Theremin because *"I haven't touched it in Years'*
Yeah, piece of cake... :)

Oh wow! I just saw your Doctor Who cover on Facebook and I was like “there is NO WAY those hand movement make those sounds” so I feverishly searched “hoW TO PLAY THEREMIN” and your video came up!!
I'm glad you made this video.
do you have a particular video in which you let loose on a theramin lead improvisation over a piece, especially with a cinematic sort of slant? I'm trying to gage the range of applications you've so far explored.
I guess she didn't care about your question.
@@tc1817 You could be right 😪
