Nice project. With a surface like this with such smoothness it seems that the vacuum seems like extra work. What i usually do is cover what im covering in black epoxy and allow it to get tacky before i add carbon. Then i wet the top with clear epoxy and allow it to tack up again and coat it a second time. After the second coat dries i sand and coat the last time. The i buff and polish. Vacuum looks nifty though.
Thanks Oscar. You are right, your method is faster. I do think that vacuum method produces a better bond between materials. Epoxy cures under lots of pressure in vacuum. (About 1 bar if my vacuum pump is on its A game).
Hi Don. For bag i used regular department store visqueen plastic poly sheets. I used regular weatherproofing silicone one would use on their house (department store). Is that what you meant? Let me know if there is something else. Originally, are used shower curtain plastic for bag. It was overkill.
What is up Cameron. You dont have to do vacuum seal. You can do hand lay up instead. If you want glassy finish, yes, you do have to hot coat it. There are plenty of videos on how to do it.
looks very nice! What is the white material that you have put on top of fiber before putting the vacuum bag on it? Interesting that it doesn't stick totally... :)
What's up Mud Cube. Layers are as follows: Carbon Fiber, Separator Fabric (It allows excess epoxy to sip through it, allowing a perfect amount of epoxy to remain imbedded into carbon fiber), and paper towel (allows for air to flow out of vacuum chamber and soaks up excess epoxy).
Awesome video! Work looks tedious but with it. Question about the separator cloth, what material is it actually? I'm undertaking this project and have all tools/materials except for the separator fabric and am having trouble finding something that looks like what you had.

Cool, I want to try this on a Boblbee backpack I got off eBay to renew it. Do you think the vacuum chamber necessary or is it possible to get a smooth finish with a little bit of elbow grease? Thanks for the vid
Michael Azzato, how goes it! Absolutely you can do a hand layup of carbon fiber. It prob would be easier. I was experimenting with vacuum set up. Check out CARBON COMPOSITES VIDS on youtube. They got really good educational vids on carbon fiber matters.
I think it's this exact deck. At least one other viewer was surprised after purchasing a similar deck and realizing that it's not made for 30 degree all terrain truck. This deck will work with 30 degree truck, but 30 degree riser is needed. I make them out of wood. I know at least Trampa makes a commercial riser. www.amazon.com/Moose-FREERIDE-FREESTYLE-LONGBOARD-CONCAVE/dp/B00AI1LMSK/ref=sr_1_20?dchild=1&keywords=Longboard+deck&qid=1631796926&sr=8-20

Nice
My wakeboard is starting to fold in half because I slam my boardslides on the rails real hard. Imma try this 😁
Thanks!
For sure!
Looks so nice. Nice job
Thanks Owen.
nice job!! you have just inspired me to try it.
Thanks Bro. Def have some patience with it! Good luck!
I've noticed you stick down the vacuum bag by sealing it with celicone. It would be great if you could explain what products you use for that?

@@artsiomnaidzich9515 wow thank you, most definitely going to try it this way...
Can we just leave it to dry instead of vacuum pumping
Sure. Look up hand lay up for carbon fiber on YT.
Nice.
cash zop, thanks cash (awesome name!)
Do you have to do it with the vacuum seal ? Or could you just do it the same way as they would so surfboards, and do you have to do a hot coat ?

Where do you get your carbon cloth?

Hey Artsiom, doing the project as I type this (so excited for the end result). How long did you like the first layers cure for in the vacuum bag?
Hey. 6hrs. Good luck with tour project.
Any chance you could do this for a customer?

Cinco339, thanks bro. Try searching for PEEL PLY FOR CARBON FIBER INFUSION.
Very cool, I'm gonna try and do this with my own board too. How much did you pay for the vacuum pump and how long did you leave it on?

Where did you get the vacuum bag?
I made it. Its just plywood and clear plastic cover bonded together by silicone.
Artsiom Naidzich okay thank you

Artsiom Naidzich great to hear, thanks for the info!
Nice. What deck was that you used for this project?
Ill try to find it for you.
