Chases are scalpers paradise. You can‘t understand or feel it - because you get everything from Mattel anyway ;) many kids will be frustrated not having Roxy because scalpers took them.
This dude definitely has a huge impact on chases lol. The liberty walk from mountain drifters was going for $80-100 and literally a day after he made the video calling it “Chase of the year” it went all the way up to $200 overnight.

Found my first chase in a Target. Fresh pegs. It was the LBWK Skyline. So fresh in fact I found 2. Had no clue it was gonna run for $600 now but I left one behind. Hope whoever has it is in good hands.
I try not to get caught up in chases and sth, I'd love to find one in the wild, but people are insane. I usually go on a Walmart run around 8am on Saturdays, and a couple weeks ago a dude just ran past me to get to the Hot Wheels spot first. I then saw him speaking to the manager and I was like (in my head) "Nah, man, this shit is a hobby, you need to chill bro." So yeah, I'll be pumped whenever I find one, but I'll keep my dignity.
Funny story. I *FINALLY* found a chase in my local Walmart. I've been hunting for years and never found one until now. I scan the code and it says, "Item cannot be found." The worker comes over and says that it's not showing on their computers, so they absolutely *CAN NOT* sell it to me. The rest of the set was just fine, though. Employee scalpers? I quit then and there. Done with this hobby.
Happend to me too at Walmart, if you're at self checkout you're good, if you're getting checked out by an employee they wanna hold it and can't grasp the concept of scanning a different model twice instead
@HughJastits I was in a self checkout. That message popped up and the employee left with it. When she came back, it wasn't even in her hand. I could've made a scene about it but at the end of the day, it's a toy for a hobby I've gotten sick of. I've talked to the lurkers hanging out with 3 sets of premiums while I just wanted one of the models.
Same, as an avid Porsche lover the rexy was the only one I was really dying to get my hands on but seeing as how the green is going for $40 I’ll be passing unless i see it in store (I don’t believe in spending money with bum ass resellers).
I really wish John would stop making excuses for the Speed Machines. We spoke on this series with our $$ and that should be enough. They should at best be a silver Tier series.

I have a total of 4 chases (FC Pandem, Willys, Volvo, Prado) and I'll use them as a bargaining chip for a better trade value rather than selling them at a high price. I've always wanted to get my hands on that purple RWB Team Transport.

They do look awesome in all black and if I had to pick a favorite ? of course its the LBWK Skyline . I did notice a couple other things on two castings. The 71 Porsche 911 had no tail lights from what I could see in the video. The Toyota Altezza was the only one with a grey interior. Rexy and Roxy are both a must have , so very cool. Great video, so many of the HW you upload are never in any of my local stores (I am in Scotland). Not sure if we are just months and months behind or the models are US only.
A couple of years ago we had the Vw Aircooled Mooneyes and a gasser in the dragstrip series, both were chase and weren't blacked out Maybe they are going back to that kind of chases
Surprised to hear about Julian ! I’m a carded collector and his art has been the reason why got me into collecting 3/4 years ago. Curious how different the designs will be from now on. Specially the carded Nationals the last 3 in my opinion has been the best designs I’ve seen in convention models.

The Black Skyline LBWK was my most after chase but when i realised it doesnt have side mirrors, I stopped chasing it. The Porsche 935 or Mazda RX7 FC Pandem or Roxy has my votes.
Never liked the whole CC chase tbh. Not paying the prices people are asking, thankfully the ones I actually want like the R34 and Roxy are made by other brands like mini gt.
Except for the Black LBWK ER34 chase & the Black Lamborghini Essenza chase version, none of the other chase cars are worth their hype & the high prices demanded by scaplers. The Black Prince Skyline chase might be worth something down the road since the entire Japanese Historics 4 set is very collectible and the Prince Skyline is a first casting. The Hot wheels chase car mechanism might drive up a lot of speculation demand & attract numerous scalpers but most of the 5 car sets plus chase car aren't very good sellers. The most undesirable diecast often end up as peg warmers. And that should be a warning for future demand for Hot Wheels chase cars. It's blind sentiment & a speculative bubble that's driving up the chase car demand. But not all chase cars will be winners. In a buoyant diecast market, all chase cars looks like winners. But in a down market, some holders of chase cars will be bag holders.
I would love to have the Volvo 142 GL chase as would I like to have the Alfa Romeo GTV6. I do agree you probably wouldn’t see a blacked out AR GTV6. But they do come in black. I would’ve loved if the Toyota Altezza came as a Toyota IS300 with LHD though. I had hoped that the ‘71 Porsche 911 had been a clean black car without the gray. That’s probably why I haven’t actively chased the Porsche. The gray however works nice on the Mercedes Benz 500E. One of my fav’s is the Toyota GR Corolla. But it’s also funny that HW has chosen this as a chase model, since the premium 2023 GRC Circuit Edition doesn’t come in black, It only comes in white and dark gray colors. But I still LOVE the black GRC though

Edit: personal favorites is the Door Slammers in dirty/painterly look. Ronin Run with the anime/cartoon for regular set and manga/black and white for the chase (inspired!). Deutschland Design with the stripes that go together. Speaking of going together, the Spettacolore set was cool how it formed the Italian flag, BUT just like World Tour this year, I found its design overall a bit uninspired (not coffee table worthy?) Does that also mean this year’s STH set will be Julian’s last set design? Can’t wait to see what it looks like.
I liked the idea of 0/5 chases when they were first revealed. Three years and only 1 chase found later, I hate it. Edit: the concept is still cool. Just wish they packed it 1 per 2 boxes instead of whatever they are.
I personally completely disregard chases, STH’s and TH’s while collecting. you can’t get any of them raw in store and they’re just too expensive to buy from resellers. So I don’t look for them nor do I hope to find one while hunting.
I’ll take them all maybe 10 of each, but Roxxy to me was the new champion! I would’ve put that number one. It definitely deserves to be the new champ on the block!
Every single one of these seems to have terrible, thick, orange peel paint and those horrible steel axles showing. But that massive plastic chunky spoiler on that pink thing tops the lot. Time to appreciate these things are just not worth the hype and scalpers prices
These chase models made me stop collecting as much. They're cool looking, but knowing that I'll never find one in the wild because they're scalped so much is discouraging. Reseller prices are also insane.
Gave up on getting my hopes up, and just get what I can. Too many scalpers and I refuse to do business with them. Move on to other brands and there is less stress, despite the additional cost.

I had both Majorette & Mini GT in my collection. Never thought Majorette is better than Mini GT. At best, they're competing with Hot Wheels Premium & Tomica Premium with their Deluxe Cars lineup

The paint is way too thick on a bunch of these. NBD if you find it on the pegs for $6, but at market prices it's an issue.

That's why I collect MiniGT, global64 and pop race/xcartoys. Much better quality paint, scale accurate details and wheels unique to each manufacturer.
