Hey guys! There seems to be some... lets say competing opinions on the DCS F-5E Update, inm this video we are going to be exploring my thoughts on the subject while we take her for a little spin!
I was told you get Sidewinders and guided bombs too? I dont won this module, I probably should, its a great starter jet and after 3 years I still need to learn the basics... I'm lazy mmkey! The KA50 got some new stuff as well weapon wise, oh and they said you get wing tanks in this upgrade as well... I cant wait for Huey and Mi8 to get this treatment!
I have a quick question for you DCS pros, I bought the BASIC DCS on Steam years ago, I stoped playing and had some computer issues for at least a couple of years. Lately I got it all working again, all the modules like the F-5, Black Shark II and others I know I purchased disappeared, like I never had them😢. Now the only thing that works is the Frogfoot on one map, I feel like I’ve been had. Any ideas?
Thanks for the video Spud, I feel like a lot of people complain about the extra price like ED just flips a switch that makes the textures better and not think about the amount of work doing a texture update takes, glad you mentioned that those people deserve pay for their work
I can understand the frustration from people who have recently spent $50 on a plane that is now obsolete unless they spend some more. Compared to people who have had it for years. Especially when the FC planes got a free graphical update, maybe this is the new normal.
Really, don't see much dif, they only use new tech from graph engine... ... we paid full price..make it better, good! ... maybe I will play more this plane and people willl want this plane and buy it, win-win. Are you ready to pay 10$ for each new small graphical dif of your already paid plane (F16-F18, etc) ;-)
My upgrade cost only $5.49 because I had miles to spend. I would still pay full price, the module looks great. And it looks much better in the simulator, you can't really see it in the video but the difference is noticeable. Now I hope they do the same with the Sabre, the MiG-15, the Huey and all the old modules that need a facelift.
Over the last 10 years I have given DCS well over $1000. I just gave them another $10. I have liked the F5 since I was a kid. I thought it looked cool. When TOP GUN came out I was telling everyone, that is not a Mig 28, it is an F5! It is one of my favorite DCS modules I appreciate it getting some love.
I'm really in favour of the upgrade system. Its a choice , nothing more!! I'd pay to update The FC3 aircraft too , especially if they added cheeky one of things , imagine The F5 or Mig 29 with an Air to refueling probe!! Kind of "experimental thing" but an Easter egg for the buyer!! That would be great!!! Silly things but things that put a smile on your face!!! (This is a Game remember- a GREAT one but still a Game) Many thanks as ever Sir. Really appreciate your content.
Given the hundreds of hours many of us get from these modules, a crummy $10 for an upgrade is not a tough call. Guys with $3k rigs, $1k+ peripheral setups, $500 VR headseats, $400 racing seats, etc etc etc griping about a modest outlay for work done is bonkers. You can have Fast, Cheap or Good, but you only get to pick two.
I don't agree. I already paid for this module. If they want to boost the looks of an existing module that should be part of the original purchase. This would be different if it added additional gameplay elements. There are many different versions of the F5, they should have added an additional version if they wanted to charge more, like what was done with the A10 rework.
@@jackdanson2 You are certainly entitled to that opinion, but people don't work for free. How do you propose that ED pays its staff to do development work for a product that is already completed, and for which current incoming revenue isn't sufficient to justify the expense of an update?
Totally worth it, I noticed the color in the cockpit is alot more vibrant than the older version. the changes are sometimes subtle, but it's $10 well spent!
In the recent FC2024 release i got the F-5, F-86, and MiG15 a pretty good deal. Even with high fidelity I think I will pass however it is always good to see this great game get new stuff.
Did they at least fix some of the known bugs with its damage model or engine model? Because if it's just a high-res texture pack, i am little disappointed.
Not sure about if it helps them in the long run. They may even start charging for all updates in the future.. I used to buy everything with that attitude and look what happened.. so many unfinished products with everything available for pre purchase
I mean it's debatable but not worth the time. I dont expect things to be free as I bought 90% of their modules. If liveries wasn't made by the community in most cases, I would bet it would cost to decorate your plane but again all debatable. I just want to see more content and not smoother the devs over wasteful time.
Off topic, but, my friend - your TrackIR5 is so buttery smooth. I get triple digit FPS in DCS but I have never had a smooth TrackIR and I use your profile. I must have an issue with out sync refresh rate or something
After the Black Shark 3 "update", im passing this one until it gets some good discount, i felt scammed on the BS3 and im not falling for it again, ED should've done better, they barelly added new loadout options to the plane, and update after update im heading away from flying EDs modules to buy and fly third parties modules, cause they get updated way more often, even the quality is better in some cases, C-101 and Mirage F1 for exemple (still waiting for the F1M btw, so i can retire the F-16C which aint getting updates it deserve), Aerges is doing a great job and ED should follow that path.
@@Supertrump.2024 People just like to gripe, it helps them with their other real life issues. The F16 gets regular updates and substantial ones. However, it was released too soon in early access which didn't help.
How could you feel scammed from BS3? it does exactly what's on the tin, and it was a good upgrade. Also, the F-1M is not what you think it is. From the research I've done it's essentially an EE (which we have) with newer avionics to improve usability. There's no major capability changes, and it doesn't compare to the Viper we have at all. Though the F-1 is one of my favourite airplanes
What I don't see anyone saying is that the remastered edition appears to be made by ED instead of Belsimtek. If Belsimtek came out with the remaster I probably wouldn't be on board. However, ED has no obligation to put in work updating a Belsimtek module, and they definitely don't have to release that work for free.
A key sneaky thing I fear in their wording about the legacy F5, is that they said it will get the same updates this patch. What they didnt make clear, is if it will get ALL future non texture updates. And that makes me suspect the old one will eventually die for those who dont upgrade after this, I dont recall ever seeing updates for eg Black Shark 2 or A-10C in recent times
Yeah, well, then just upgrade it. Most of us have dozens of modules and a high end gaming PC worth thousands of bucks at home for playing DCS and there really is a discussion about a 10-dollar-upgrade after almost a decade of the module's existence...
@@dochiq Yeah there is - people generally pay money for things they'll get their money's worth for. I might have spent all this money on a gaming PC and peripherals and expensive DCS modules, but that doesn't mean a $10 cosmetics pack for a module with other, bigger issues goes from being a poor deal to a good one, does it?
Those work payment claims are so ludicrous I chuckled. These aren't 3rd party devs, this is in house. That means salary wages. They get paid regardless. This isn't even mentioning the fact that this doesn't fix any of the longstanding issues with the aircraft itself. They've slapped a new coat of paint on something that desperately needs updated inner workings.
And salary wages are highly dependent on the company's financial performance. Well, in a proper company. I don't know how ED's company ethics are, but when my company does better, they are more willing to grant requests for salary raises.
@@MessierM66 Sure, but ED aren't exactly struggling for profit right now with multiple $60+ products constantly being sold as well as one of their 3rd party makers supposedly not getting paid what they're owed.
navigating by only tacan and DME is kinda fun. But tough when you only have one nav radio and one hsi/cdi - difficult to identify intersections precisely.
As someone whose been out of the loop for awhile, did they fix all the systems/avionics/flight dynamics issues that were present with the F5 for this release? Last I knew things like the radar were messed up, flyable without wings, and various other issues. Did it finally get some love aside from just a visual upgrade?
I’ve already found two bugs, the standby attitude indicator no longer functions and the leading edge slats dig into the outer pylons, also not a bug but annoying is there is only a handful of liveries now.
For me, purchasing the update is a no brainer. The F5 is one of my favorite modules but the outdated cockpit graphics have been bugging me. I fully support ED and appreciate all their work.
i got the Flaming Cliffs 2024 F-5 along with the F-86 & MiG15 i think it was a tremendous deal, and I like the simplified key bindings as I played hours of LOMAC back in the day. I do not see any reason to pay any more for the F-5 even with the high fidelity upgrade. Thanks my two cents.
Squadron liveries are an issue. If half the squadron has the old version…. And the other half has the new version… good luck making that work. The livery update should have been free
Was about to buy the F-5 module when I saw the ED trailer for Flaming Cliffs 24, which has a LoFy F-5. I would love to see you do a vid comparing the difference between that F-5 and this HiFy version.
Guys it's $10. If your on the fence for $10 and that's gonna break the bank you have bigger issues than buying the new F5! The pilot body upgrade is worth the 10 bucks alone!

@@Syntax152 C'mon it's like changing the tires on your car. The old ones get worn out and you need new ones. If you take the time to make things look updated and nicer you need to pay for it. If you don't care about that then don't. DCS needs cash to pay it's bills and I don't mind the $10 to see this sim go a little longer. The hours of enjoyment DCS gives me is worth the $10. If this was the core game I'd agree with you and your viewpoint but it's not. This is a optional module and if you want optional upgrades to that module you will have to pay for them. If you want those new cool rims & tires on your old sports car they ain't free man!
I especially love the new high alpha effects, the shaking and rattling. It feels much more alive. I agree, if flight sim developers are expected to work for free, then nobody will be foolish enough to do that and we'll be left without anything to fly. Simple as that. 10 bucks for the new textures, effects, pilot model, and finally the move from speculars to PBR is totally worth it in my book. I wish they did this with other modules too (P-15, 109 ,Huey) minus the skin incompatibility of course.
This is sidestepping the actual complaint by making one up. No-one is upset that the devs are charging money for their work, they're upset that the work they're paying for is just a paid cosmetics pack for a plane that has much bigger issues the community has been talking about for years at this point. It's a nice addon and I'm sure a lot of work went into it, but if you were to poll F5 owners on what they felt needed work, "new textures and pilot model" would probably be near the bottom of the list, if not dead last.
This is more than just a 'cosmetic' update, New cockpit, radar and weapons etc. And cosmetic can involve more work, time and talent than just fixing code bugs. Also your blue/grey skin fits the Marianas map just fine...
The issue for me isn't the price (which isn't bad) but that it's a missed opportunity to add a variant of this aircraft with more capabilities - an opportunity that isn't likely to come again for some time. I guess I've been kind of spoiled by modules with multiple versions like the F-1 and F-14.
So basically if you buy it after the sale ends, you pay the same price i paid when i bought it 2 years ago... So it's not more expensive for you, but it is 10 bucks for me who already supported the module... I mean it's not like 10 bucks is a big deal, it just doesn't sit right with me for some reason... Does look good though, i'll give it that...
6:21 How difficult is it to simply adjust the TACAN volume knob to not be annoyed by the morse codes? Leaving the TACAN off entirely instead is a bit misleading...
The F5 is a hybrid between a warbird and a jet. Jet speed and performance, but no CCIP or CCRP. Trying to drop bombs in a Tiger II is no different than with a P51 Mustang. The “radar” is worthless, you’ll see the target with your MK1 Eyeball before your radar does. That said, closing up behind a bomber and strafing with your cannon is a visceral feeling
For the price of a pizza?? I will update without any hesitation. It looks very cool, the old model and textures made the module look just old. Now it looks like any other advanced module and the f5 is a lovely analogue lil bird and it is always fun to fly.
Looks nice, but as far as I have seen in other videos, it decreases FPS in VR, so for me it is a step in the wrong direction. I will stick with the old version.
The problem with viewing old games on modern screens is resolution and pixel ratio, which makes everything look utter rubbish on modern screens, they weren't that bad, if you goto an arcade and go play Sega Rally or Outrun or Daytona USA etc they still look exactly how you remember them because they all have their original screens in place :)
*I am of the mind* that I do not mind paying for upgrades as long as they are not clearly abusing a relationship. Similarly, I have no problem paying taxes if my community and country take care of roads, safety, etc. My opinion is that, in the USA, people get too ignorant of how the systems we depend on work. It takes money to do the things we want and like.
In America, we are tired of our Tax-Dollars being wasted on Woke B.S., and supporting "People" that came here Illegally, as well as 3rd World "Holes" instead of the Citizens that actually pay the Taxes.
I spend this week around 850€ with my new Winwing setup (rudder pedals + Hotas Orion 2 + F15EX joystic with shakers), bought the "new" 3 FC 2024 planes (I had the FC3 pack already and the Ka50 Black Shark 3 with the upgrade + Syria map) and the F5 came with that upgraded pack, I still have to fly that thing and my question is...If I buy this visual upgrade, will it work with that version of the F5 (the Flaming Cliff 2024) as well?, or just the "high fidelity" one (I know what "high fidelity" means in DCS, is not the visual stuff). I guess the plane model is the same but is this going to update both models since one module is not the same as the other? That's the thing. Thanks in advance. ;)
$10 is a fair price. I won't get it myself as I never fly the f5, I rather fly the f4. But none the less it's a fair price. However I would have liked to see a bigger update to the module. Like an F5E II. Just like on the A10 and ka50. That would add more weapons (like 4 sidewinder stations and AGM 65s) because right now the F5 just has nothing really going for it sadly
I can't see the difference. The interior looks relatively the same to me. I did purchase the Upgrade (cuz I'm an idiot) but as I understand it, any and all of the Avionic Updates including things like the RWR (which never worked well in the original module) Update have been applied to the original model without having to spend $10. So if it's Art that you are after .. spend the money. If you enjoy the F-5E already, save your money. There is no disadvantage from my understanding. Sadly, this video failed to show what the Exterior Artwork Improvements are so I don't ANYTHING worth mentioning from this video.
Module is not for me because I’ve never had the slightest interest in an F5, but I am a proponent of charging money for revamping and graphically modernizing older modules. I would happily pay twice this amount if they would do the same thing to the mig 21, mig 19, f-86, etc.
In my opinion worth a lot , Did you know why? Not because the texture changes and other some stuffs but the flight performance changes at all. Now you can fly more than 300knots with 2 Aim9, 2 Mk83 and 272 fuel tank at MIL power. When you could it before? I don´t remember actually . So, worth so much.
I don’t disagree. Updates to a product they sold you should be free and part of the purchase. It would be like charging for updates to the chinook. We’d be broke by the time tat got done.

See this is what I like. When ED announces a new module/new 3D model close to its actual release, and not announce one that we have to wait 2-3 years for. I know i'm being impatient, but ED could work better on their timing. Great video Spud! 🤘
no vr is diffrent, in a car the fact that you get sick is the fact that your body feels like it is moving. But the feeling u get doesnt really correspond to what u see outside. In Vr it is the other way arround, I can get really sick in a car. But not in Vr. Because with vr the problem is that your eyes see movement, but your body doesnt feel it. Hope that helps. (and the pilot body can help relivate your position in the vr world and makes it feel more grounded).
But people paid the module thinking they would receive the basic support (updates for QoL as this was supposed to be), and wasn't expecting to pay again. And this "Remaster" is pretty mid from my experience, wasn't bad, I loved the external, but It's so crude for somebody from ED talk some bs like 7K hours work. In my perspective, they should have made it for free, they made the same for the Me109 and the spitfire for free btw.
Neither the VR pilot nor such a level of external model fidelity were available at the time of the release of the original F-5E, nor even some 4 years after.
@@Tome4kkkk thats called an software update. For software you already paid for. Its not an ok practice to ditch the software for years and ask for money (again) when you want to update it...
In my opinion, an update is when the developer only supports the functionality of the old module throughout all the changes and innovations in our simulator. As for updating the visual component or any additions that were not announced at the time of release, this should all be done on a paid basis.
2:21 We already have a pilot body in the old F-5. Stop repeating Nick's lies and making it sound like a new feature. And we still have no pilot bodies for either old or new versions of the A-10 or Ka-50.
And then you repeat the Belsimtek lie. They were always ED, just pretending to be their own partners, because Russians don't even need a reason to automatically lie. ED have openly admitted this recently (I think in a Wags interview.)
this feels like a downgrade compared to the other $10 upgrades ED had given us in the past Texture work, fine, but package it with something else. If you want people to be excited for a product there generally needs to be more than just artwork
I bought the upgrade but frankly it is not better than the mod I had for the dash, also I lost about 20 liveries and they only provide 4 I think. I don't care about the money but it is not worth it to me.
It’s not the money. It’s cashing in on existing things or releases. iv been a dcs user since 2010 a much better use of money would be area specific assets ground force’s more air defense or somthing to add to the game. Yea it’s 10 bucks … does that mean now every dcs module post 2022 gets a remaster.

Maybe they will finally make enough money to pay Razbam or resolve the situation... (they won't) also I can't really enjoy the sim anymore since they destroyed all my keybinds with an update (the backups don't work since they changed the code ty ED)
@@Spudknocker It does not work and I've tried everything (some of the settings are there most are missing, there are many new random keybinds that I have never set, it's just a mess), guess that's what I get for sinking countless hours into this sim and far too much money

This is principle that I hate, you bought an already very pricey product, but now the company is charging add on that 99% should be bought for that very same product? Sure its just $10 but as the Joker said, *"its not about the money, its the message"*
I didn't really want to get into this as for me it was obvious. The Remastered F-5 is a no brainer to buy, either as a $10 extra or full price as we all paid in the first run of the F-5. Many of us have had years of playing a $50 module and it's actually cheaper to buy the Remaster for new players as it was for pre owners. What concerns me is comments that don't seem to fit with reality, $10 won't pay for a MacDonalds meal and it's over in 10 minutes. The Remaster is there for years, so griping about a $10 upgrade (and the Remaster is very well done model wise and bug fixes, plus it's a supported product for updates) is an absolute steal, unless you are on state benefits of course. Lastly, this is my great concern, if people are griping over nothing with the F-5 there could be no chance of any other old modules being overhauled because you are not going to get all that work for free. ED might as well sell the modules for full price and people who don't want the upgrade can stay with the old one, it's our choice how this pans out.
Not a big difference... US$9.99 + Tx - no... so this is the new trend, spending more money on graphical improvements on planes that we already paid full price for... Shame. DCS makes a lot of bad decisions and we can see it in the loss of community.

After the Black Shark 3 "update", im passing this one until it gets some good discount, i felt scammed on the BS3 and im not falling for it again, ED should've done better, they barelly added new loadout options to the plane, and update after update im heading away from flying EDs modules to buy and fly third parties modules, cause they get updated way more often, even the quality is better in some cases, C-101 and Mirage F1 for exemple (still waiting for the F1M btw, so i can retire the F-16C which aint getting updates it deserve), Aerges is doing a great job and ED should follow that path.

@@Supertrump.2024 People just like to gripe, it helps them with their other real life issues. The F16 gets regular updates and substantial ones. However, it was released too soon in early access which didn't help.
How could you feel scammed from BS3? it does exactly what's on the tin, and it was a good upgrade.
Also, the F-1M is not what you think it is. From the research I've done it's essentially an EE (which we have) with newer avionics to improve usability. There's no major capability changes, and it doesn't compare to the Viper we have at all. Though the F-1 is one of my favourite airplanes
What I don't see anyone saying is that the remastered edition appears to be made by ED instead of Belsimtek. If Belsimtek came out with the remaster I probably wouldn't be on board. However, ED has no obligation to put in work updating a Belsimtek module, and they definitely don't have to release that work for free.
Belsimtek has merged with ED years ago and even originally they were only some kind of spinoff, so never a truly independant company
There has been well-done mod available for quite awhile that improves the original cockpit graphics and also fixes the overly crazed canopy glass.
A key sneaky thing I fear in their wording about the legacy F5, is that they said it will get the same updates this patch. What they didnt make clear, is if it will get ALL future non texture updates. And that makes me suspect the old one will eventually die for those who dont upgrade after this, I dont recall ever seeing updates for eg Black Shark 2 or A-10C in recent times
At this point we are near a subscription model making more sense honestly.

Those work payment claims are so ludicrous I chuckled. These aren't 3rd party devs, this is in house. That means salary wages. They get paid regardless. This isn't even mentioning the fact that this doesn't fix any of the longstanding issues with the aircraft itself. They've slapped a new coat of paint on something that desperately needs updated inner workings.
And salary wages are highly dependent on the company's financial performance. Well, in a proper company. I don't know how ED's company ethics are, but when my company does better, they are more willing to grant requests for salary raises.

navigating by only tacan and DME is kinda fun. But tough when you only have one nav radio and one hsi/cdi - difficult to identify intersections precisely.
With this reskin, the new supercarrier directors, fog, Phantom, etc. Might be a good time to fly a 80's campaing over the Marianas no?
As someone whose been out of the loop for awhile, did they fix all the systems/avionics/flight dynamics issues that were present with the F5 for this release?
Last I knew things like the radar were messed up, flyable without wings, and various other issues.
Did it finally get some love aside from just a visual upgrade?
I’ve already found two bugs, the standby attitude indicator no longer functions and the leading edge slats dig into the outer pylons, also not a bug but annoying is there is only a handful of liveries now.
For me, purchasing the update is a no brainer. The F5 is one of my favorite modules but the outdated cockpit graphics have been bugging me. I fully support ED and appreciate all their work.
i got the Flaming Cliffs 2024 F-5 along with the F-86 & MiG15 i think it was a tremendous deal, and I like the simplified key bindings as I played hours of LOMAC back in the day. I do not see any reason to pay any more for the F-5 even with the high fidelity upgrade. Thanks my two cents.
Squadron liveries are an issue. If half the squadron has the old version…. And the other half has the new version… good luck making that work. The livery update should have been free
Was about to buy the F-5 module when I saw the ED trailer for Flaming Cliffs 24, which has a LoFy F-5. I would love to see you do a vid comparing the difference between that F-5 and this HiFy version.

If you don't care about that then don't. DCS needs cash to pay it's bills and I don't mind the $10 to see this sim go a little longer. The hours of enjoyment DCS gives me is worth the $10. If this was the core game I'd agree with you and your viewpoint but it's not. This is a optional module and if you want optional upgrades to that module you will have to pay for them. If you want those new cool rims & tires on your old sports car they ain't free man!

The pilot body is in the old version of the F5 as well, the pilot body is not new for the F5.

I especially love the new high alpha effects, the shaking and rattling. It feels much more alive. I agree, if flight sim developers are expected to work for free, then nobody will be foolish enough to do that and we'll be left without anything to fly. Simple as that. 10 bucks for the new textures, effects, pilot model, and finally the move from speculars to PBR is totally worth it in my book. I wish they did this with other modules too (P-15, 109 ,Huey) minus the skin incompatibility of course.
This is sidestepping the actual complaint by making one up. No-one is upset that the devs are charging money for their work, they're upset that the work they're paying for is just a paid cosmetics pack for a plane that has much bigger issues the community has been talking about for years at this point. It's a nice addon and I'm sure a lot of work went into it, but if you were to poll F5 owners on what they felt needed work, "new textures and pilot model" would probably be near the bottom of the list, if not dead last.
This is more than just a 'cosmetic' update, New cockpit, radar and weapons etc. And cosmetic can involve more work, time and talent than just fixing code bugs. Also your blue/grey skin fits the Marianas map just fine...
The new canopy glass alone is worth the upgrade. The foggy/scratchy glass in the old version sucked.
Something I wish more people would mention is that the miles program makes it a $6 upgrade - at that point, it was a no-brainer for me

The issue for me isn't the price (which isn't bad) but that it's a missed opportunity to add a variant of this aircraft with more capabilities - an opportunity that isn't likely to come again for some time. I guess I've been kind of spoiled by modules with multiple versions like the F-1 and F-14.

The F5 is a hybrid between a warbird and a jet. Jet speed and performance, but no CCIP or CCRP. Trying to drop bombs in a Tiger II is no different than with a P51 Mustang. The “radar” is worthless, you’ll see the target with your MK1 Eyeball before your radar does. That said, closing up behind a bomber and strafing with your cannon is a visceral feeling

For the price of a pizza?? I will update without any hesitation. It looks very cool, the old model and textures made the module look just old. Now it looks like any other advanced module and the f5 is a lovely analogue lil bird and it is always fun to fly.

Looks nice, but as far as I have seen in other videos, it decreases FPS in VR, so for me it is a step in the wrong direction. I will stick with the old version.
If you fly the F-5 on a regular basis, $10 is nothing to get an ancient release to look great.

The problem with viewing old games on modern screens is resolution and pixel ratio, which makes everything look utter rubbish on modern screens, they weren't that bad, if you goto an arcade and go play Sega Rally or Outrun or Daytona USA etc they still look exactly how you remember them because they all have their original screens in place :)

*I am of the mind* that I do not mind paying for upgrades as long as they are not clearly abusing a relationship. Similarly, I have no problem paying taxes if my community and country take care of roads, safety, etc. My opinion is that, in the USA, people get too ignorant of how the systems we depend on work. It takes money to do the things we want and like.

I spend this week around 850€ with my new Winwing setup (rudder pedals + Hotas Orion 2 + F15EX joystic with shakers), bought the "new" 3 FC 2024 planes (I had the FC3 pack already and the Ka50 Black Shark 3 with the upgrade + Syria map) and the F5 came with that upgraded pack, I still have to fly that thing and my question is...If I buy this visual upgrade, will it work with that version of the F5 (the Flaming Cliff 2024) as well?, or just the "high fidelity" one (I know what "high fidelity" means in DCS, is not the visual stuff). I guess the plane model is the same but is this going to update both models since one module is not the same as the other? That's the thing.

$10 is a fair price. I won't get it myself as I never fly the f5, I rather fly the f4. But none the less it's a fair price.
However I would have liked to see a bigger update to the module. Like an F5E II. Just like on the A10 and ka50.
That would add more weapons (like 4 sidewinder stations and AGM 65s) because right now the F5 just has nothing really going for it sadly

I can't see the difference. The interior looks relatively the same to me. I did purchase the Upgrade (cuz I'm an idiot) but as I understand it, any and all of the Avionic Updates including things like the RWR (which never worked well in the original module) Update have been applied to the original model without having to spend $10. So if it's Art that you are after .. spend the money. If you enjoy the F-5E already, save your money. There is no disadvantage from my understanding. Sadly, this video failed to show what the Exterior Artwork Improvements are so I don't ANYTHING worth mentioning from this video.
Module is not for me because I’ve never had the slightest interest in an F5, but I am a proponent of charging money for revamping and graphically modernizing older modules. I would happily pay twice this amount if they would do the same thing to the mig 21, mig 19, f-86, etc.
Honestly, in 15 minutes I expected a little more than: you get a pilot body and reworked graphics inside and out. :-(

In my opinion worth a lot , Did you know why? Not because the texture changes and other some stuffs but the flight performance changes at all. Now you can fly more than 300knots with 2 Aim9, 2 Mk83 and 272 fuel tank at MIL power. When you could it before? I don´t remember actually . So, worth so much.

I don’t disagree. Updates to a product they sold you should be free and part of the purchase. It would be like charging for updates to the chinook. We’d be broke by the time tat got done.

Turkish Air-Force never had the F-5E in their inventory. Brazil replaces the F-5E with the JAS-39E.
The turkish air force uses the A and B version I believe, and Brazil still poses the F-5E as the FAB's backbone

no vr is diffrent, in a car the fact that you get sick is the fact that your body feels like it is moving. But the feeling u get doesnt really correspond to what u see outside. In Vr it is the other way arround, I can get really sick in a car. But not in Vr. Because with vr the problem is that your eyes see movement, but your body doesnt feel it. Hope that helps. (and the pilot body can help relivate your position in the vr world and makes it feel more grounded).

And this "Remaster" is pretty mid from my experience, wasn't bad, I loved the external, but It's so crude for somebody from ED talk some bs like 7K hours work. In my perspective, they should have made it for free, they made the same for the Me109 and the spitfire for free btw.

Neither the VR pilot nor such a level of external model fidelity were available at the time of the release of the original F-5E, nor even some 4 years after.

In my opinion, an update is when the developer only supports the functionality of the old module throughout all the changes and innovations in our simulator. As for updating the visual component or any additions that were not announced at the time of release, this should all be done on a paid basis.

And then you repeat the Belsimtek lie. They were always ED, just pretending to be their own partners, because Russians don't even need a reason to automatically lie. ED have openly admitted this recently (I think in a Wags interview.)

Texture work, fine, but package it with something else. If you want people to be excited for a product there generally needs to be more than just artwork
I bought the upgrade but frankly it is not better than the mod I had for the dash, also I lost about 20 liveries and they only provide 4 I think. I don't care about the money but it is not worth it to me.

This is principle that I hate, you bought an already very pricey product, but now the company is charging add on that 99% should be bought for that very same product? Sure its just $10 but as the Joker said, *"its not about the money, its the message"*
I didn't really want to get into this as for me it was obvious. The Remastered F-5 is a no brainer to buy, either as a $10 extra or full price as we all paid in the first run of the F-5. Many of us have had years of playing a $50 module and it's actually cheaper to buy the Remaster for new players as it was for pre owners. What concerns me is comments that don't seem to fit with reality, $10 won't pay for a MacDonalds meal and it's over in 10 minutes. The Remaster is there for years, so griping about a $10 upgrade (and the Remaster is very well done model wise and bug fixes, plus it's a supported product for updates) is an absolute steal, unless you are on state benefits of course.
Lastly, this is my great concern, if people are griping over nothing with the F-5 there could be no chance of any other old modules being overhauled because you are not going to get all that work for free. ED might as well sell the modules for full price and people who don't want the upgrade can stay with the old one, it's our choice how this pans out.
