  • A teacher's compliment changed my life - the power of our words.
#teachers need our support more than ever. To all the teachers, mentors and parents who influence children I hope my story encourages you. Thank you for your service. You are needed. You are appreciated here. Greatly so.
Our kindness, compassion and encouragement can lead a young person to rise above their situations and conditions to soar. Let's look for the good in a soul - especially one's that may be going through difficult situations beyond our awareness. Our words have the power to break someone or make someone into the magnificent soul they were meant to be. #lillediane #mypostcardlife #singersongwriter

My husband is an elementary school teacher. My favorite thing to do when the school year is over is to read the heartfelt notes from the students in him. He has touched lives and they tell him so...🤗🌟🤗

Do positive acts, get positive results. Maybe not 100% of the time, but mostly. I like complimenting strangers in public to brighten their day. "Groovy shirt or great hairstyle" kind of remark. Almost always get a smile or a thank you. You were very lucky to have a teacher who cared enough to help guide you.

When I was a child, I didn't hear one. single. compliment. All I heard was criticism. I often wonder if my life would be different if adults had calmly pointed out my talents instead of berating me for my faults.

In creative arts class in high school, as an assignment, I wrote about the lax rules in our house when dad was in charge while mom had to be away. I got an A+ and my teacher commented how much she loved it and that she identified with what I wrote about in her own family. I then asked if she thought I could be a writer. She laughed at me and said, well it doesn't necessarily mean you could be a writer. I went around for days thinking about it and feeling stupid for asking if I could be a writer. It must have had a real negative impact since I still remember the incident. I love to encourage young people and I wonder if it's due to that comment from that teacher.

Your story made me a little weepy. So happy for you that you had something good to tuck away in your heart. I too had some things tucked away, and I swear had I not had those things tucked I would not have been here to write this today. Keep on keeping on.

You’re a beautiful person Lily and I really miss getting to visit with you. I still listen to the CD “ A Child Like Me” Rachel and my kids like it as well. Do you ever miss Ojai and the coast? I hope the Lord blesses you richly. It’s very good to see you. Your brother in Christ - Blaine (Change of Heart Band)
