    Hi and thanks for the videos. I recently bought audient id4 and noticed some things! How come two input choices appear for line 1 (mic) , one called "analogue 1/2" the other "loopback 1/2" ?? Which should be used for recording vocals? Also while the input meter of the id4 mixer is almost at -10 (color yellow) , then why is the tube mic (rode k2) too quiet at recording?

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  3 роки тому

      For recording vocals, you would want to use Line 1 (Mic) which will take the signal from the XLR input of the iD4.
      If you can, try using the meters in your recording application which will a little more precise than the iD4 meters and will allow you get your gain dialed in accurately.

    I've been using the Audient ID4 on voiceovers and I think it's got terrific, clean sound. However, it wasn't easy to figure out how to set it up with my computer. I got help from your tech support (hint: you have to turn off the two little buttons at the bottom center of the unit and then turn the large iD4 knob to the right) and now it works great with my mic. However, I tried to record some guitar through it and it doesn't record anything. I plugged the guitar into the jack, turned up the volume on the guitar knob, made sure my computer's audio settings were set to the Audient for input/output, but it didn't record anything or produce a sound in my monitor headphones. So I'm sure there's something obscure that I missed. Can you tell me why a guitar is inaudible after it's plugged into the guitar jack on the Audient and the volume on the guitar knob (left side) is turned up, phantom power is on, and the iD4 knob is set to -6? Seems like it should work with the same settings that I use with my mic, only using the guitar knob instead of the mic knob. Thanks.

      I would double-check that you've got the correct input selected in your recording software as the DI input will come in on Input 2 and some recording software will default to input 1.

    My laptop only has USB 3 ports and I was wondering if I can I use a powered Type C hub and connect Audient id4 mii into the hub and then hub into laptop's USB 3 to get the extra power from Type C hub for the interface drivers at their optimum? I am aware it will be a bottleneck in terms of data transfer but I was thinking I can drive high impedance headphones in that case without some juice loss?

    • @Audientworld

      Yes, a powered USB Hub with a USB-C port can be used with the iD4 to give the higher headphone headroom. There shouldn't be any effect on the audio data provided the USB hub can support USB2.0 data.

      If using a USB-A connection on your computer then the headphone headroom will be slightly lower than if using a USB-C port. Using an USB-A to USB-C adaptor will not make a difference and the iD14 will still treat it as a USB-A port.

    I am a satisfied user of the Audient ID4 that up until now never had any issue with it. However, Since I recently started using Studio One 5 as my DAW I have started to get some issue when I switch ( alt tab) from Studio One to other windows software. It seems the youtube video I might be watching gets stuck when I switch back from Studio One to my intenet browserm as it seems the video gets sort of stuck. At that specific moment I also hear this sort of click coming from my ID4 when I go to another window rather than Studio One. So while I can use both the ID4 for my other software like internet browser sound and Studio One without issues on them own, somehow when I just from one to the other this seems to cause some issue that makes this not go smoothly. So I am wondering if some audio setting might be different in my windows and Studio One, since it somehow needs to make a switch from one to another. So I am curious if you (Audient crew) know some way to fix this? Thanks!!!

      Hi there,
      I would recommend checking that the input and output sample rates of your system are both set to be matching the sample rate used in your preferred software. I would also make sure that the Exclusive Mode boxes are NOT ticked, as this can cause certain programs to change the sample rate of your interface's inputs and outputs.
      1. Go to Settings > System> Sound > Sound Control Panel
      2. Head to the "Playback" tab and for each of your Interface's outputs, make sure that the bit depth and sample rate are set to the desired value and untick the Exclusive Mode boxes.
      3. You will then need to head to the "Recording" tab and for each of your interface's inputs, make sure that the bit depth and sample rate are set to the desired value and untick the Exclusive Mode boxes.
      4. Make sure the sample rate and bit depth used in your audio software is set to the same values as it is within your system settings.
      Thanks

    i'm thinking of buying this, but it's been a long time since i've done anything with recording or DAWs. cardioid mics pick up stereo information, right? will that information be preserved on this device's single mic channel? or would i have to dedicate both the instrument and mic channels (as L and R) to solely the mic in order to preserve that stereo information? if so, does this device have the ability to do that--to re-dedicate the instrument and mic channels as L and R mic channels, respectively?

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  Місяць тому +1

      Hello there, Most XLR cardioid microphones will be mono only, apart from a few specialised mics. It's more typical to use two microphones to capture stereo audio.
      If you are recording stereo signals from microphones then the iD4 wouldn't be ideal for this since it only has one mono mic input and the DI wouldn't be ideal for recording a mic.
      I would instead recommend either the iD14 MKII or EVO 4 which have two mic inputs which would work a lot better for you.

    Audient iD4 (MKII) 2in/2out USB 3.0 Audio Interface

    I connected the id4 mk2 to my USB-C supported MacBook Pro(2020) with the included USB-C cable.
    While the USB connection showed under "About This Mac-->System Report-->Hardware-->USB" specified that the device is running at the speed of 480mb, with power of 500mA, which should be the spec of USB 2.0 rather than USB 3.0 as the datasheet claimed! I've downloaded the software but no any update showed.
    Did I miss anything to make it negotiate successfully with USB 3.0? Or it's that normal to see that within the system information? But WHY?

      You can change this behaviour in the headphones by pressing and holding both buttons and turning the large control left or right to adjust the Monitor Panning.
      In your DAW, you would need to set it up so you are recording onto a Mono track rather than a Stereo track so the audio is hear in both channels. How to do this, will depend on your DAW but you can usually specify the channel type when you create a new track.

      If you go to the system tray, you should see a small iD icon which when clicked on, gives you a menu where you can change buffer size and access the mixer. This can sometimes be hidden so you may need to press the small upwards arrow to show more icons.

    Hello, is it okay to leave the audio interface plugged in all the time on a laptop? because when i turn the computer on or off i hear a "click" from the iD4

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, this is perfectly fine to do! The click you are hearing is a mechanical relay that mutes the outputs of the iD4 when it is powered down.

    can i connect guitar through the line input also?

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  Місяць тому +1

      You can, but because the impedance of the line input is a lot lower than the DI input you'll loose a lot of top end and end up with a pretty dull-sounding guitar. For best results, we'd recommend plugging in a DI box to the line input to give you a second guitar input.

    hello I have a question!
    If I connect this interface through the old rectangular usb connectors (from usb type C of the interface to usb type A 3.0 to my pc) the impedance level for the headphones will not give me the 600ohm that this interface offers or that does not influence ?

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  2 роки тому

      If using a USB-A port then you will lose a small amount of headroom on the headphone output due to the lower current provided by a USB-A connection. However, you should still have more than enough power on the headphone amp to drive most headphones without an issue, even with a USB-A port.

      @@Audientworld because I use the Beyerdynamics Dt 990 Pro of 250 ohm if it works fine for me? thanks for answering

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  2 роки тому

      Yes, the iD4 MKII will drive a 250 Ohm pair of DT990's more than loud enough for most recording/listening contexts.

    Direct Monitor for both inputs are panned to center. ¿How can i pan to left and right for stereo line direct monitor? (Direct, no software or loopback)

      Press and hold the iD button and the Monitor Mix button and turn the Main control knob, this will then adjust the panning of your inputs.

    Hi :) - how can I change the sample rate of the Audient iD4, so I can hear it on my speakers as output (which have a different sample rate) ? - unfortunately Windows does not let me do it.

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  11 місяців тому

      You can change the sample rate from the iD icon in the system tray of Windows (Bottom right hand corner of the screen). You can choose between 44.1kHZ to 96kHz

    Hi! A question here- it's a 2-in/2-out; does this mean I can record my mic and my keyboard at the same time in separate tracks?

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  2 роки тому

      Hi there,
      Yes, you can as long as they are both mono input sources (so your keyboard would not be in stereo, and would have to be recorded by the instrument input).

    Can I use this audio interface to connect and listen to my turntable? I know I can record from it, but I can't find any answer regarding, that I can listen to it as well. Thanks!

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  3 роки тому +1

      Yes you certainly can, you'd just need to feed the output from the turntable into iD14's inputs. Then open the iD mixer and pull up the faders for Mic 1 and Mic 2 and pan them hard left and hard right. This will then be sent directly to the speaker and headphone outputs for listening.
      Please note that if your turntable doesn't have a built in Phono Stage then you will need a Phono pre-amp between the turntable and the iD14 to apply the RIAA EQ curve and boost the level.

    1 more question: I have Beyerdynamics DT770 pro headphones but they are 32ohms. Is this impedance too low for the ID4 to drive.
    I keep hearing about headphones need to be high impedance to work properly on this interface.
    Just wanted your opinion?

    • @Audientworld
      @Audientworld  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Kris, the iD4 will happily drive up to 600ohm headphones, so 32ohms will be fine. Thanks.
