@@kieranstravels thanks. Was over there on a Alpha tours holiday. Although they had an itinerary, it was the usual half day here half day there rubbish. I ditched that, got a island travelcard and spent most of my time on the train and trams.
“Do you like liver, do you like bacon? Then come to the Isle Of Man…. Deviants.. Yes Deviants!!!” lol remember the Fast Show … I shldnt laugh it’s my ancestral homeland and it is a beautiful land .
@@buffplums don't remember that one. Probably shouldn't say this but i kept seeing the same people all over the island. Took me a few days to realise that they were not the same people.
@ lol yep the Manx are interesting lol. I discovered that when I was doing my ancestral research during multiple visits to the island and also using web sites etc… my link with the island is about 4 generations ago all the way up through my paternal line the most notable character I found was a man called Charlie (who I’m named after in my middle name) and he was the coz of the Peel lifeboat during a rescue where he and his crew rescued a Norwegian ship called the Saint George sometime in the middle 1800s. During that journey, it was amazing how many potential relatives I had. One day in Douglas library I asked a member of staff if there was any records or information on Charlie Cain the Peel Cox, a man behind me said you need to speak to a chap up in Union Mills and he had Di E all the ancestry stuff and was related to the same man but via one of Charlie’s Daughters … so odd really and like you say everyone knows everyone.
@buffplums the one thing I like about the island is how friendly everyone is. Cars will stop to let you cross for example. And not just at crossings. In many ways it's like going back in time.
Just changing the subject a bit will you be doing any more documentaries on the Merseyrail network and tunnels . I loved those ones you did some time ago… what would be awesome is if there was some photos or material going down the ventilation and the drainage shafts I know that you show the entrances
@buffplums yes I intend to do more . I've been planning to do one about the sections of Merseyrail that were planned but never completed. It's getting suitable material that's been the sticking point. I have some myself. But I know of someone, one of the civil engineers on the project, who has loads. The problem is that he wants to charge a fee for me using it. I might just have to go with what I have or maybe try to find another source.
I always wanted to go to the Isle of Man as I have never been there before. Such a beautiful Island.
@@Andrewjg_89 I highly recommend it. It's a beautiful place & a Mecca for vintage transport enthusiasts
Great Video Paul!

@@Merseywail That's much better. I'm very surprised you didn't visit the transport museum in Jurby on your visit.
@@kieranstravels it was back in April, Jurby wasn't open then or I would have definitely gone there
@@Merseywail Ah, that's a shame. Jurby has a very similar Marshall Dart to the one in VRT's possession
