There are three branches of government. The executive, the legislative, and the judicial. These POLITICAL questions would be more appropriate if this was a nominee for a executive or legislative position in our government. The judicial branch is supposed to be non-political and it's only task is to see that laws are followed. This is even more important for those justices who are tasked with upholding the written intent of our Constitution. God help our republic if it ever becomes otherwise.

The line of questioning in these hearings is intended to mesh out a persons views and character to determine whether or not they can be trusted and will rule in accordance with the U.S. Constitution. There are three branches of government. The executive, the legislative, and the judicial. These POLITICAL questions would be more appropriate if this was a nominee for a executive or legislative position in our government. The judicial branch is supposed to be non-political and it's only task is to see that laws are followed. This is even more important for those justices who are tasked with upholding the written intent of our Constitution. God help our republic if it ever becomes otherwise.

I found Lindsey's performance erratic and confusing. He wasn't questioning Judge Jackson but grandstanding on his personal pet peeves instead. I was embarrassed for him and incredulous. What REALLY burns me is when they ask Judge Jackson a question but interrupt her answer or dismiss it before she even finishes it.

The questions don't and aren't supposed to pertain to the SCOTUS. The line of questioning in these hearings is intended to mesh out a persons views and character to determine whether or not they can be trusted and will rule in accordance with the U.S. Constitution.
As it stands she doesn't know what a "woman" is and she has 0 opinion on previous rulings of the court such as "Roe Vs Wade"
