I saw The Manhattan Transfer LIVE not long after this song came out & let me tell you... not a foot or shoulder or head in the theatre was still. They were/are absolutely magical on stage. What I wouldn't give to experience that evening again! Truely consummate 'artists', in every sense of the word. SO talented & their music will forever be unmatched. 😊 I'm 73 now & when I hear this song & close my eyes I'm right there again. ❤
best song
❤
My jam we use to roller skate to this song doing their dance at the rolling skate ring every Friday night all different races be on the rolling skate rink skating backwards to this song those were the good Ole days ill he 57 in May 2024 takes me back to the rolling skate rink👍👍
I was on my way to an appointment with my father, and my spirits were low, but the second this song came on the radio and I heard the uniqueness in the singer’s voice and the incredibly catchy melody, my eyes grew wide and I resisted the urge to dance! It’s a shame they don’t make music like this anymore. But I consider myself fortunate that I was able to find this song!
Bro this is so catchy
I am 56 Bought this record from Woolworth's for $2 ! I was 14 when I bought that amazing album!
was 13 when i bought it
You made me do math: 1980
I was 8 when this song came out and it scared the shit out of me.
@@ultraphoenix1bro this sh scared me a lot on the radio
Lol I'm 42, I don't know, New York Voices "Round, Round, Round" brought me here last year I think, love it
Bought this album when it first hit. At 65 it still makes me want to jump up and move.
Come on 65 still a lot to jump and dance. It's in the spirit!
please dont grandpa
This is as fresh as it was when new
I reach the big 60 soon. Must have most of their albums. They are so classy. Keep boogying T. My joints have had it esp my knees and my back isnt great.
It was a favorite of mine in 1979 and still in 2024. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Performed (danced) to this at a talent contest in college back in 1983 with a friend who recently passed away. What a great song..listening today immediately took me back to that magical time. This one's for you Tammy! Priceless..
What a great track. Janis Siegel is terrific.
As always. Shes a little pocket of dynamite and great at doing the arrangements too.
Have spent way plenty of time in Binghamton NY where Rod Serling was born, raised and gleaned fodder for his program. They are now erecting an 8 foot statue of him as their favorite son. Take it from me, Binghamton very definitely, unquestionably has a mystical quality like nowhere else !
The 1st and best of the Twilight Zone songs
45 years, and this song still rocks!!
Disco/Jazz Mix.
Jay Graydon producing and the guitar solo also, he did the solo on Peg when all the others couldn't come up with something impressive!
I have no idea how I got here, since I am only 16 this year, but I'm glad that generations did not stop me from getting into this fascinating song.
Welcome to the world of musical genius.
Brilliant artistry of the finest calibre. ❤
Definitely. Nobody is a patch on them.
Manhattan Transfer are just pure class❤
😎👍
As pop as the Transfer got, a very interesting experiment blending the sounds of the original TV theme with an original composition by Alan Paul and Jay Graydon, who contributes an incredible overdubbed guitar solo as well. Janis is great on lead vocals here.
五時に夢中ローヤルや薔薇色ダンディーローヤルなどかなと思いますよ。
Fab disco pop freak amalgam, with jazz and scat mixed w bebop. Quite a talented crew. Funky groovy guitar instros. Takes us back to nostalgia of Rod Serling on tv. Nice trip. Some trance. Danceable & memorable. Thanks, Manhattan T. & Atlantic records. Super mix effort. Vive les retro & disco freaks ....
GOOD TIMES!!!!!!
Very meta-physical mesmerizing song
Fantastic performance from Janis
...when Disco 'died' (July 1979), a lot of People don't know The Manhattan Transfer helped 'Disco' put away it's typical sound for GOOD, and became 'Post-Disco', with this tune.... It peaked at #4 Disco / Dance, February, 1980, and updated the 'Transfer', in the process....
Disco didn't "die" in 1979 maybe in 1981
@@alancruzdominguez5074 ...I was there, Babe...I KNOW it didn't 'die', that why I put the parentheses there...but, it DID become 'Dance' (Electro-Funk, New Wave, Synth-Pop) in '81.........
Thanx for info
A brilliant track from one of the most harmonious groups. (First comment)
HIT THE MUSIC !!!
Wow!! I didn't expect this. A superb performance as usual, but with a thoroughly modern twist that would have been outrageous at the time.... Steely Dan meets synth pop, and such a New York vibe.
I love this. Thank you for posting, consider yourself subscribed.
Fantastyczny powrót do przeszłości 🌹
How cool is this?
This song was I'm my hallowed school play and I might have just spent a good 15 minutes looking for this song
I love this song 🎉🎉🎉
I'm weird and I love this.
It's wonderful, great vocals and instrumentals
@@Jeanie1107 I love so much music and Manhattan Transfer is one of my favorite groups. I am in love with New York Voices too
You are not wierd. You know lovely music!😘
😂😂
No, you are not. You just like great music, especially when the Manhattan Transfer sing with superb vocalization. Rod Serling is smiling down from heaven.
top shelf stuff
Impresionantes voces y maravillosos músicos que tocan con ellos!... México los recuerda con muchos hermosos retornos mentales! 😄👍
I like this song😃❤👍
The only critique is Janis let on how hard she worked to make this wt it appear effortless z your talent is boundless
nice
Jay Graydon is da man
Okay, so, it took me 40+ years to identify who did this song.
been searching for it all morning
I'd love to know the story behind Alan Paul's lyrics. He's talking about Glen Miller's deadly plane crash.
Submitted for your approval
One Mr. Miller, who's about to take a trip
Into oddness and obsolescence
Through a zone whose boundaries are that of imagination
Accompanying him on this journey is the mesmerizing
Sound of the twilight tone
On a cold and rainy night
One Mister Miller had a rare flight
Glen was up there boppin' a rhythm
Then the engine stopped to listen with him play that beat, oh, oh
Suddenly he heard this sound
This melody that keeps spinning 'round and 'round
Now, he resides and plays trombone
In the mystic unknown zone
Twilight zone
Wonder if rod seling ever heard it....
Rod was long gone when this came out, I think he would have loved it.
