As a kid I used to walk to the library to rent the crow soundtrack just to hear this song while I did my homework:) All the other songs on the tape kick ass too but something about this song!
This is one from that album that I always skipped over and I don’t know why. I guess I just wasn’t ready for it, and that’s a shame. Better late than never!
Never heard a band with such a downright filthy/sleazy sound and vibe. This is the height of the pissed up, insouciant era. Jim has a "Don`t give a fuck" attitude that Liam would kill for.
I got their debut in 2002 and saw them half a dozen times orso in England. They were good, solid, cool and had some good songs but i kinda lost track of the m after their 2nd album.
I've seen them twice in June. They're on a whole different level than any other band, it's unreal. I'm willing to put them next to The Kinks and The Ramones. The songwriting is off the charts.
A lot of things were of much realer quality back then. Try playing the Mary Chain through any contemporary cheap-ass mass-market system, and it's going to rattle itself and everything in proximity to it apart.
Ok, I got a confession, even though I pla ok on it have been, sh😮uowing ii off for years and Mr. Nick. Sanderson AND myself, are on it (now that IS a win , win!) BUT alas as I say.. @brad davidson in other words, what you’re saying is because essentially all he’s using is some distortion, reverb and a wah pedal to achieve this sound, even a baby seal could do this… with enough money, booze and tight undies.
Wow first thank you Colin for uploading this amazing version I first heard a 12" extend mix of Hit in '85 ,then Pcandy, But This Version is a perfect balance of grizzly FU attitude & that level of distortion Always makes Me 🤪& I could comment on so many of the comments I guess the comparison to VU sister Ray another great band from that era as a live album from 85 echo and the bunny man does practically a whole album of Velvet underground with the occasional Stones tune thrown in there but anyway amazing thank you made my day everybody I wish you all lucid dreams tonight
They should be wearing black and their sunglasses on in indoors. Not Jamie Oliver shirts and Next sweaters. This sound's fantastic, noisy and live though.
Their use of feedback should put them in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame...

First time I ever heard them was on The Crow soundtrack too. Ended up changing my life. One of my favorite bands to this day.
Discovering this, Medicine, and Cocteau Twins thanks to that soundtrack made me a shoegaze addict for the past 8 years@@TheErikrust
I remember them days dude.
thank you, Velvet Underground and JAMC!

Jimmy Pop t.v. If you want something similar, check out BRMC. No one does Jesus and Mary Chain better than Jesus and Mary Chain, though.

i guess singing with your mic unplugged is kind of the height of dont give a fuck
@@JamesCurtisOKC It was unplugged for about 28 seconds, when the band jam out anyway.- And yeah it still is. Oohhhh give me Muse.
Never get tired. Always relevant.
Amazing sound and hipnótic rhythm
I was lucky enough to see this recording of Later With.... JAMC were stunning.
What year is this, please?
The greatest band of all time
Top 5 for sure.
You're just bleeding RIGHT my friend!!!

A classic for a reason!

Saw them play with NIN ... They were amazing ... NIN had to be spectacular to not be blown off the stage!
Very sad. Nin should open for JAMC
@@crgl2009 they actually did back in the day.
@@crgl2009 I saw NIN OPEN FOR JAMC, AND THEN PETER MURPHY, AND JANES ADDICTION IN 1990
Holly Shit!!! Threw me back to Junior High. When Dr. Martens were real quality.
I agree. Docs could last up to ten years back then but now. You are lucky if you get 3 years out of a pair.
A lot of things were of much realer quality back then. Try playing the Mary Chain through any contemporary cheap-ass mass-market system, and it's going to rattle itself and everything in proximity to it apart.
The band rules!
The band is a clasic history of music
Shredding!
one of the best songs ever. One of mind....there are a couple of other good 'uns
The underground song 😎👍

Is it bad that I thought Ben Lurie was J Mascis at first? 😂

Lurie
T Heer its overe i am Fr e e !
Was that Jim being a petulant wee laddie at the end there? When he realised he´d inadvertantly unplugged his mic.
He seems pissed in the Scottish sense.
The mic cable fell out
William Reid the king of the fuzz wah 🔥 Filthy!
Which year is this?

Unplugs mic, pretends its 1989. No sound. Throws mic. Shure SM58. Tried. Tested. Lasts.
Best damn feedback since Hendrix...fact.
Even better

@@Jtdubbzz I can't tell if this is a compliment or if you're a hater 😂
wow that is freaking astonishing guitar work by William, love that sound
@brad davidson don’t be so angry, sis.
GREAT FUCKING BAND. great feedback, as close to hendrix as there is. Wonderful expression of noise
These guys have only gotten better since then. They were here before grunge and they've lived on long after
who were Oasis again, from 2.30 the man on th guitare a fekin genius
the late Nick Sanderson on drums.
Yeah so sad. Probably a heavy smoker maybe. Its to bad.
Nala eel yeah he was a genius, real deal miss Earl Brutus!
Amazed the crane camera guy didn’t get Jim’s mic stand wrapped around his head
lol... hilarious
An interested Josh Homme looks on!
Facking Amazing Sounds.......! :-)
Fabulously filty guitar. Many imitators, but no one gets close

Tanta, ma tanta roba. Uno dei gruppi più importanti dell'Indie britannico
Hey Hey Heeeeyyya.
Superbe !!! Merci Monsieur Colin Francis Jones !
Why William Reid is the best guitarist of all time.
A close second to Syrup "Tea" Jones
Definitely the coolest.
"My favorite color is gold."
best wrangler denim jacket!!!
Their music is just from Mars or something. Astonishing, heavy, catchy
Who cares!
Hahahhaa I just finished reading the book about them as you can see they're pissed out of their heads ......brilliant!
Oi! cameraman!!
that was the weakest applause in the history of music. So sad.
People Never Understand it
Josh Homme was in it!
follow that
I don't know. If you don't know then I can't explain. I can't help. This came out of of Glasgow, Scotland 100 years ago. Perfect.
Thank you for this valuable information.
