@@JanJansen985 SMAC is like Pyramids, is the largest, tallest, and one of the oldests buildings in the world and it took thousands of years to even build something slightly taller than it, and that was the Eiffel Tower (Civ 4) but it's still not as magnificient

The thing that will never stop blowing my mind is that it took less time for us to go from iron tools to space exploration then it took us to go from bronze tools to iron tools.
I feel the same way about this UI as I do about the UIs in the new PDX games. They just feel weirdly mobile gamey and totally disconnected from the subject/genre/art direction of the rest of otherwise beautiful games. It’s like they worked their asses off to create these massive immersive worlds chock-full of creative passion and then outsourced one of the most front-end parts of the game visually to an AI tiktok filter or something. Baffling. It ends up being an unfortunately big reason I can’t immerse myself into them (that extra oomph you mentioned Civ 5 having). CK2’s UI was always peak to me. Just so nicely stylized.
I'm a fan of the game and like it better than civ (mostly because of the graphics, warfare, and culture switches) but it would be more fun if they fleshed out diplomacy, warfare, and how the AI interacts with those better.
Everybody complains about the culture changes in this game being too jarring and ruining their larp but clearly they dont understand that the intended way to pick your cultures is by Dripmaxxing
Horses are legit evil man, dogs who eat people too. Like imagine we lined up Genghis Khan's horses for just "following orders" like we did at the Nuremberg trial, those fuckers would neigh and say they were happy to trample over all those chinese orphans, and that they went out of their way to stomp people. I once went out, on like an empty plot of land were there was like a water sewage plant thing, and i tried to get close to a horse to draw him, or her idk, and the horse started stomping and neighing and i got my pencil up all scared like i was about to stab it and then the horceballo ran off. Little did i know that horse had cast like a curse on me and i would, months later, fall into a canal of sewage whilst walking my dogs in that very empty lot.
It's like the sense accomplishment wasn't added to the game. Maybe if it's up to your actions that decide the path your Civ goes down it'd feel like you worked for something. The game seems to think that just the building and war mechanics alone are enjoyable but the jank of inorganically choosing your evolution is kinda wack.
For real, I can't stand looking at Humankind's UI, especially when I look at Civ V & VI. I've never bought the game, but I've seen enough weird color palettes to make me question my lunch choices.
Pictograms look over-detailed to the point I can't not look at them and the UI boxes have transparent borders which messes with the way brains create information separation. It looks aesthetic but really doesn't work for gameplay.
Fucking hell I really thought the black dude with pharaoh hat a suit and a soviet pin was a joke by you at first Jfc edit: ah ok it's a character you created I thought it was just... there, added by the devs, would have been hilarious
I love it when the cavemen say "Yeah... I'm making a civillization... a Civilization: Beyond Earth"
For humankind
Unpopular opinion but civ BE rising tide is pretty fun
CIV ran so that Humankind could walk. Likewise, Humankind walked so that Millennia could stumble and fall down a long set of stairs
Can we just get a remaster of SMAC?
Make it the same but i want it

I was blinded
I wish this game succeeded purely due to how beautiful it looks, comparing this to Millenia makes me want to puke my innards out
visually i think this is the best 4x game
"floaty" is a perfect way to describe the game

Bronze age homies said "This is peak." after building the 5th pyramid in a row

Youre right, the game it's self is very nice looking. Sadly the ui is just so bare and empty

I tried to override it, but they just kept saying its beyond earth
3:33 There's some kind of dead pixel in the recording on the bottom near the right side.
Humankind has more interesting systems than Civ but less personality. Its battle system is genuinely better and I like the idea of starting as nomads.
The nomad start is really cool, one of its best features
I like how nukes take time to strike, they're actually mutually assuring than just OP firepower
