I'm currently trying the scenario using the scientist career and it's not fast. You get the cloning machine rather late in the career but as soon as you have that it's quicker. I use digging for collectibles and gardening as my other side hustles. Gardening takes a long time though with no skills.
That's awesome!! I learned from your other video how to harvest crops properly to make a ton of simoleons and did the challenge in 9 days. I might try this one too.
For trash i recommend the university wall trash chute. It's fantastic, i use it for every build i do. It's like a bottomless pit, no need for outdoor trash bins. And the best part is that they're free! They're absolutely perfect. Thanks for coming to my sales pitch
Here's a couple of ideas for you to try with this one. One is the scientist career and transforming lower-valued objects into higher value ones. You could even combine that with dumpster diving so you don't pay for the items at all. Or maybe another play on the spellcaster route, try the Burgliate spell because it's not tied to the mischief skill so it should still work. You can steal things like stoves and beds with that spell, not just decor.
Fun thing that I found about those DJ booths. ANY upgrade you make to one WILL transfer to ANY other of the same in ANY other saves/games bough after the upgrade is made. So, if you have one Sim who fully upgraded one, then, those that you buy later WILL be fully upgraded. They will be upgraded in earlier saves, they'll get upgraded in later saves. You need to add «Natural Lighting» and «Artist Studio» traits to that lot. Both will improve the quality of the painting done there. They also make painting more enjoyable.
I actually really liked this idea. It is realistic and believable that you can manage a club of inspiring painters on their quest to fame. It does look like a lot of work...
When it comes to painting in the town or in public lots that aren't your home lots. You can sell those paintings provided the person that painted them aren't currently on the lot itself. If they are there it counts as you needing to buy it from them. But if they leave the lot you can sell their painting as yours for the money. At least thats how its been working for me. Also if you ever come across a celebrity you should get their autograph. Get it appraised then sell it 24 hours after its appraised. Its appraised price doubles. So a Judith ward autograph that usually sells for 400 appriased will 24 hours after that sell for 800. Its really useful early game in rags to riches scenarios. In fact i played one sim who lived completely off celebrity autographs.
I sold plenty in San Myshuno by just waiting until the sim had finished painting and selling it. They were still stood right next to it. So don't think they need to be off the lot. They'd often just start painting again too.
So what I think could improve the time here (if you wish to play more efficiently): - start with a tiny home - start with a pee bush instead of a toilet, it doesn't require an extra room for privacy and you can also use it to sleep until you have enough money to buy a bed - sell the paintings in a yard sale from the beginning - instead of "loves the outdoors" maybe use "dance machine" or another trait you see fit - make salads (it won't burn your kitchen and you don't need to buy a stove) - don't buy a sink, you can throw the plates in the trash and the sink is only going to break regularly (you have a shower to fix the hygiene need anyway) - buy the perk "rally the troops" to prevent most of their needs to go down - make the things they need to do anyway (showering, cleaning up, etc) also club activities (it should also help with them not fixing their needs during the gathering) - use lot traits to improve the quality of the paintings - buy the inspirational decor (eg the blue plumbob lamp) - maybe don't give money to Bess
I love the idea of this.. Not even for a challenge, but to just have everyone paint for me and see the different ones while profiting. I always do the same category making money.
I think you should turn this into a let’s play and watch the house and basement evolve. I think it would be cool if you turned the basement into a full blown prison LOL. While upstairs was it just a normal suburban family, the income being from prisoners
Imagine a full house with 8 Sims, each with their own full clubs, just for painting. I wonder how fast you could get to a million simoleons that way.

Every time I hear James say “aw BATUUU” it brings me slight joy
“They’re free to leave but I also like to lock the door to make sure they don’t”
I love that I was like when is he going to try to sell them on the table? 23 mins in GOOD JOB he got there!!!
There is actually a easel in the town center of tattoos where you can actually sell the paintings that the sims make
Nice! Next try a buffet table instead of a full kitchen I wonder if it's worth it
I loved this video so much! I did not want it to end!
missed the opportunity for Monet Makers!
Is it just me, or was anyone else getting cult-like vibes from this challenge? 😅
Watch callmekevin play the sims.
I learned to do this from Jim Pickens first lol
The essence of a real paint gallery, 1 mil. For a stick figure!
So James Turner channels CallmeKevin and Jim Pickens XD
I remember doing this when get together was the only pack I had. But I did it in an actual basement. 😀
I would join this, a cool basement hang out, no-one really speaks much, there’s food and ways to meet basic needs. Love it 😂😂
Poor Marcus, how is he supposed to paint, there was no easels available!
Imagine earning 1M$ with Batuu. The CHAOS
I actually really liked this idea. It is realistic and believable that you can manage a club of inspiring painters on their quest to fame. It does look like a lot of work...
31:30 - The game is totally trolling you with the "New Skill Day" event in this challenge 🤣
Hee hee, you mention it a little later at 32:22
We need James to make a random skill generator like he did for packs and traits.
Call Me Kevin vibes and I love it 😂❤️
I like how he choose a kitchen instead of the buffet table
@@AlexaFaie Then i wonder why mine don't allow me to sell it until they leave the lot. Wonder if there is something else that is preventing it then.
This totally reminds me of the prison challenge back in the day
So what I think could improve the time here (if you wish to play more efficiently):
- start with a tiny home
- start with a pee bush instead of a toilet, it doesn't require an extra room for privacy and you can also use it to sleep until you have enough money to buy a bed
- sell the paintings in a yard sale from the beginning
- instead of "loves the outdoors" maybe use "dance machine" or another trait you see fit
- make salads (it won't burn your kitchen and you don't need to buy a stove)
- don't buy a sink, you can throw the plates in the trash and the sink is only going to break regularly (you have a shower to fix the hygiene need anyway)
- buy the perk "rally the troops" to prevent most of their needs to go down
- make the things they need to do anyway (showering, cleaning up, etc) also club activities (it should also help with them not fixing their needs during the gathering)
- use lot traits to improve the quality of the paintings
- buy the inspirational decor (eg the blue plumbob lamp)
- maybe don't give money to Bess
I felt that in my soul "I need to sleep, but I don't have time for other stuff"
Selling wall has done a lot of heavy lifting in these scenarios!
I love the idea of this.. Not even for a challenge, but to just have everyone paint for me and see the different ones while profiting. I always do the same category making money.
you should try the new plan-a-sim challenge. literally, everyone I watch has so far failed this scenario
I think you should turn this into a let’s play and watch the house and basement evolve. I think it would be cool if you turned the basement into a full blown prison LOL. While upstairs was it just a normal suburban family, the income being from prisoners
Deliciously dark....I like this idea 👍, although I don't think you'd be able to have the tiny home perk with an upstairs house
@@Lostinscenes true but their skills are already maxed mwahahaha
