A good exercise I used in learning strumming patterns was writing down which beats I would strum (i.e. 1 2 3 & 4 &) then playing only those beats. I would come up with a pattern and practice it until it felt natural
That's a great exercise suggestion! And that's a smart approach to practice the pattern until it feels natural. I'm going to release another video here on UA-cam soon where I teach how to strum specific rhythmic note values :)
