My uncle worked in the Pentagon and did stuff like this. I met him when I was way younger and remember his adoration for planes. The love he had for working on just designs was amazing. I have a sketch he did of a triangle plane I cherish since he passed away. Seeing military craft fly from the base nearby makes me think of him all the time. Love watching you go over these cool aircraft
I saw one fly at an air show over fifteen years ago. Some Air Force base, can't remember where. It didn't do anything spectacular, nothing flashy or loud, but it didn't need to. I already knew what it was capable of. I'd seen the footage of the devastation it caused in the first Gulf war. It was like watching a black panther surveying its territory. It just flew from one end of the runway to the other, but it commanded my respect and awe.
Also it wasn't designed on a computer. Also the term stealth doesn't mean it can be seen it means it can't be locked on. High bomers and low fighters are detected by different frequencies for lock. The radars can see them they just cart target them with the different types of ground missiles that target them. However today it only takes a few encounters with them, for the enemy to tweak the targeting parameters to them be ablel to detect them.
12:40 it was shot down due to us running the same course every day for weeks straight. The SAM that locked onto it got lucky because the lock happened right as the bomb bays were open. The SAM launched two missiles , one missed the other blew up next to it never making direct contact.
I will say I've always lived near an air base. I saw one fly overhead just like a year ago! Always loved seeing them and the bomber at airshows as a kid.
i love the fact shes come out of retirement a bit to help pilots train against stealth aircraft and for radarmen to train on how to detect stealth threats so her service will live on for now
@@RW-zn8vy It wasn't pilot error though, there were a number of reasons why it happened. I'll try to keep it as short as possible. Zoltan Dani the commander of the 250th air defence brigade had trained his crew to move equipment and set it back up in very quick time, they limited their use of the radar to avoid becoming targets for the anti radiation missiles. However upon the night of the shoot down, they were looking for the aircraft in roughly the area they knew it would fly and detected it when the bomb bay doors opened. On that same night the prowlers which were responsible for not only jamming the radars but taking them out as well, were unable to fly because of the weather. So the F117 was flying alone. They tracked the aircraft and after launching 2 missiles the second one exploded causing the F117 to fall out of the sky. They actually hit a second one as well, however that was able to land at a nearby base. Final closing fun fact for you. Dale Zelko, the F117 pilot actually met Zoltan Dani at his bakery to speak about the incident. Both of them have met each others families and have become friends to a point. The wing and canopy is in Belgrade's Aeronautical museum. I've seen the wing however the canopy wasn't on display when I visited unfortunately.
not even pilot error @@RW-zn8vy, Dani Zoltan, the one whom detected the aircraft, flipped his radar on at the exact same time the nighthawks bombay doors were open. days earlier, spies had been watching the airbase where the nighthawks were taking off and reported their deployment to the serbs whenever they took off, that would always use the exact same routes every time.
@@Billmaster115 using the exact routes is an error within itself lol but yes the pilot having the Bombay doors open after bombing is what lead to him being tracked and shot down so easily.
@@RW-zn8vy true, but those things are open for less than a second, it was a stroke of pure luck that has not been repeated since. Believe me, they have tried. Also, radar on low frequency picks up absolutely everything, so the only reason Dani knew it was an F1-17 is because of the flight pattern. As you have mentioned, that was an error.
How about some OG fighters? Commenters here are already asking for the P-51 Mustang, how about showing us Brits some love? The Sopwith Camel, Hawker Hurricane, and the Spitfire. And also the Messerschmitt Me-262 Schwalbe. Love to see some of those, if you haven't covered them already.
0:13 The Boeing Model 853-21 "Quiet Bird" would like a word with you lol. Also no, we do not sell the F-22 to anyone however the F-35 was specifically developed for export.
5:23 They referred to it as the “Hopeless Diamond” (as in the “Hope Diamond”) because it was inherently aerodynamically unstable & shouldn’t be able to fly
The fact I watched this video and now there is a missing F-35 Stealth Fighter Jet over North Carolina us nuts! Did Trev take this jet himself for his next video!? 😂 love all the work you do in, it’s awesome brother 💪
Captain Trevor… you need to hear me out on this one!!! You need to pilot an A380!!!! Depart from London and fly to ORD!!! I challenge you to land the largest passenger aircraft and properly taxi the aircraft to the gate 😎
I heard the F22 Raptor is similar in the sense that it’s not very aerodynamic and needs computers to aid in stabilization. The reason (in the F22’s case) is to design a aircraft with optimal maneuverability. Also @ 12:16 u mentioned the United States exporting the F22 and that is false. The F22 was never exported. It is only being used in the U.S. We do however export the F-35.
Great series of videos there. Please could you one day consider making a video with the Boeing 777-300 and another featuring the Airbus A380? Also a flight from an Airport in the USA like the ones in Chicago, New York or Newark, to one of the UK London airports like Gatwick, Stansted or Heathrow? Thanks in advance.
Well, they sort of went into retirement. The Air Force keeps a couple of them in a climate controlled hanger that are used extremely rarely, but they were technically officially retired in 2008.
@@austintyler1804Not exactly Bro, I saw one Escorting a Private Jet while fishing out in the Sierra Nevadas🤷♂️ They say it retired but the gov says a lot of things😂

Hey trev, it sounds crazy but the Germans developed the first stealth jet during World War Two, luckily it was late enough in the war that they didn’t have time to put them into production or use.

It wasn't, idk why people keep saying it was. The SAM site commander knew where to look due to the USAF neglected to change the flight plans and provide proper escorts for the nighthawk, and that nighthawk was suffering from multiple problems.
Flaps? Where we're going we don't need flaps! Seriously though, the F117 had no flaps. Fun fact - because it had no flaps, its landing speed was very high. Thus it uses a giant parachute out the back to slow it when it lands.
Yup I saw one escorting a Private Jet, While fishing out in Dinkey Creek in the Sierra Nevadas🤷♂️ Still confused about it but It was a Black Triangle next to a Passenger Jet, Don’t know what else it could be
There are pieces of the nighthawk in a museum in serbia. And during the nato strike, yugoslavia was already torn apart. Serbian militia shot it down, as they did with 1 f16

@ANONYMOUS-kl3nu the sr 71 was originally going to be designed as a bomber but then they decided against it.
the blackbird wasn’t a stealth aircraft, you could see it you just had no chance of catching it

12:15 No, the F22 has never been exported outside the US

The F-22 was congressionally blocked from any exportation.

Been having fun slow flying that thing over the Las Vegas strip. I'm able to keep it in the air at just above 50% thrust, or around 170~ish MPH
