I miss when things were going strong in 2006 - 2013. I call it "The Optimism Era". Because looking back on it, I feel good because I was excited to see all these new things, like the PS3, GTA and the advancement of phones and the world coming together via social media becoming a big thing. Moving on from 9/11 and going toward just advancing. Like, we haven't improved at all since then. We may never get a era like that again. Where Gaming and media as a whole was getting huge and we were excited to see what may come up next as we were moving away from the 90s / 2000s into the modern, futuristic era with HDTVs, and more highpowered stuff with the economy getting better. Then we got bored and gaming and media as a whole became depressing due to companies getting lazy and greedy rather then innovating. Like with the GTA4 / L4D2 posters, we can blame Rockstar for making us depressed over the last 7 years by giving us a gem then hyping us up for V then constantly re-releasing it, and Valve letting them rake money rather then make new things, and leaving that era behind. Just, after gaming moved to Mobile and Social Media became more integrated with more ways to charge for extensions (I.E DLC and Microtransactions), companies just sorta gave up because of low effort. The internet was improving fast, and people were excited to upgrade and hop onto the Social Media trend. Even Phones were improving to high-tech touch screens with more screen capabilities to use web browsers. And that was the downfall. Tech improved for phones like that, and same with gaming. But people found ways to make more money on people on phones. And advancing kinda just stopped. Lol it's like time froze after 2013 and now we're all stuck in a soulless corporate dystopia. At least back then we had a reason to be hyped for new releases of games, media and tech, because the machine gave us things to enjoy. Now the corporations make products for the streamers and social media influencers and not the average consumer, and everything has become soulless and fake. Straight up. Why else do you think this generation relies so heavily on these nostalgia-type videos, even if they haven't experienced these things?? It's honestly because the generations before us lived in reality and had a lot more to look forward to. This generation (Gen Z and Alpha) were the first ones to truly grow up in a different reality (online) and the machine has taken advantage of that by taking everything we used to enjoy and turning it into a cash grab, and we as the consumer continue to support the machine because it's all we know. And now we're just letting them shit all over us while we look back at times we never experienced, just to escape this pathetic post-capitalist society. Maybe I'm thinking way too deep about this, and I'm not the best at explaining things, but hopefully someone out there gets what I'm saying.
These were good times, technology was changing but wasn’t going at the rapid rate that it is now. It didn’t feel as exhausting to be in but maybe it’s the nostalgia talking.

Im seriously starting to question myself, was i born at the right time or the wrong time to play these games. My "real" life just feels perfect, the friends i have are just perfect, but then there's the games. People seem to enjoy the games in the 2000s alot and i, who was born in 2008, have missed on what these guys were enjoying. Never got in touch with a few multiplayer i would to play nowadays and when i do, its just a barren wasteland. Happened with battlefield 3, i felt like i was just late to the war. I just walk through the maps where the supposed battles would happen. Its all empty. No one left but me. Only a few games survive the modernization part of gaming, like tf2, l4d2, gta online. Its just that i hate game companies nowadays. They only focus on money more than games. these guys just make me feel like i was born at the wrong time. The only way i will stop feeling like this is if they stop caring about money and then focus on game mechanics and make it as memorable as possible. I'd much rather play games from the 2000s to 2016 because it felt like they were still made with love and dedication

pure nostalgia for my childhood
2009 If I can go back around this time, I want to play tbogt online and buy up bitcoins.
Maybe I'm thinking way too deep about this, and I'm not the best at explaining things, but hopefully someone out there gets what I'm saying.
i feel you bro.
I'd say things took a turn after 2016.
Make it 1 hour loop pleaseee!! This makes me so nostalgic...
Yes
These were good times, technology was changing but wasn’t going at the rapid rate that it is now. It didn’t feel as exhausting to be in but maybe it’s the nostalgia talking.
Keep on walking on the streets of Manhattan
Went to Times Square months ago wished I had seen this before
GTA IV Ballad of gay Tony is the best pause theme

@@thedrbat9572*The One World Trade Center and the construction started in 2006 I believe what you meant to say is that it wasn't finished until 2014 and you'd be right
I don't know if you edited the pictures with this but it looks amazing! Well done! looks so lively and colorful, the blur of the cars passing also give more emphasis to the atmosphere.

2009-2010... it was like the last hurrah before social justice ruined everything
You must've been in a coma then because games we're being trashed on since the 80s
What does this even mean lol? How has social justice ruined anything when 99% of gamers say shit like this constantly
Just bringing up politics to ruin vibes when they was probably born in 08 anyways and don’t actually remember what life was like back then💀
@@EJFF. ur havin a massive reddit moment bud
@@EJFF. it’s called Marxism it ruins everything
This statement is so wrong it's embarrassing. Shows how little you know of social values, too.
Mgmt
Empire the sun
So damn great!
I'd much rather play games from the 2000s to 2016 because it felt like they were still made with love and dedication
why is mine just the gta 4 song lol
