They are fantastic guard dogs without some of the aggressive traits of other large, guarding breeds-you can trust them with children, for example. If outside, my Bouvier would only bark if there was an intruder-animal or human-actually in the yard, not just passing. She would not let anyone, except for immediate family, in the house or yard, unless we said it was O.K. Interestingly, she was the only dog in the training class we attended who would not the trainer handle/borrow her to demonstrate a point. Since part of the training was how to teach your dog not to take treats or respond to strangers a la military and police dogs, she was doing the right thing. Technically, this trainer was a stranger. She also happened to have an incredible nose, as good as any blood hound.
Thanks for the vids. reminds me of my favorite ever pet K.T. "kaytee!" She was a brindle colored runt if her 11 sibling group and was not shrinking violet and intelligent, alert, empathetic, independent and loyal.
I hava over 40 years Bouvier and love them. Now whe have the fourth in house. They are real great protect dogs but also the sweetest for their owners. In the Netherlands and Belgium you will find the best...
Aww so cute! I am just wondering what is the purpose of cropping the tail? Also, I noticed one of the little ones doesn't have a cropped tail like the rest. My bouvier is a mix with black lab so she has the long tail. lol
Love this! Reminds me of when my Bouv had her litters. So much fun!
Fuck, I miss my bouviers.
Super cute!!! Bouv's are the best!

te gekke honden zijn het !! :-)
Cropping ears and tails are a tradition that makes the puppies recognizable as Bouviers.
Carol McElheney ummmm ok then?

Rainbow Glue cropping the tails is mostly decorative now
Cropping of the ears is because of heat and bugs/fleas/ticks
I was told that in Belgium it was to prevent the wolves from grabbing their ears or tails. They are working cattle, sheep herding farm dogs.
