I cut down a redwood tree becaue they are in the way of the trees i plan to plant. I ecided to drive it to he papermill and half the tree brought me from empty to 28,000 litres at the papermill. Now i have to wait there until i have more room for the rest of the tree
The only rig I found that can cut down sequioas is the big John deere bunchers, both the excavator and the skidded, but neither have enough weight to actually move entire tree, can only cut them down and hope they don't fall back on you, giants really screwed the pooch with the redwoods, if they were gonna make it so limiting they should've just kept them out of the game altogether, also of note, no matter if planted, placed from construction menu or already existing the redwoods are only worth about 1/3 to 1/4 of any other tree in the game, I was hoping that planted ones would be at least worth their weight in comparison to other trees but hell no, you have to either use the tree deleter trex 600, or the tree devourer to remove them quickly, otherwise it's all chainsaw mania for little to nothing or a big buncher that can't handle the entire weight of the tree, and both bunchers were the molded ones not the one that came with platinum dlc, everybody needs to demand a realistic update from giants regarding those trees or just remove them entirely!!! I have no idea why they decided to go through all the extra trouble writing a separate script of weight vs value for the redwoods instead of just using the same script weight to value as all other trees have, absolutely abysmal critical thinking on their behalf...
Another thing to note, it seems that whatever the weight of the equipment being used is, they are capable of lifting half of that depending on how well you position your rig and how it is being lifted usually you have to scoop all the way after grabbing, then lift slightly keeping load weight as close to rig as possible, I've noticed that with the redwoods though that the loaders are closer to only 1/3 of their weight, in real life most loaders including skidsteers can easily lift half their weight and if very careful close to 2/3rds but generally safe operation is half the weight of vehicle, remember their weight isn't always 50/50 depending on tires, bucket/implement on front and weight on rear, so if we just go off of 50/50 weight distribution that puts the lifting capabilities at only half the weight of the vehicle, so the L180 in platinum dlc is over 30tons so 15tons is it's true limit but because of bucket or implement being used it's more like 10 or 12 tons capable... Hope this helps with figuring out how to properly take the guess work out of what can and can't be lifted/hauled by the loaders in FS22, love the content keep it up, and for God sakes give giants the WTH were they thinking attitude about the redwoods, hopefully they will quickly update this issue for at least the planted renewable farms we could be creating if it weren't so damn worthless to do to begin with, I love the trees they look great but there is absolutely no reason after learning planted ones are still way under value for the effort and weight to even consider them as anything but purely asthetic or to me now just an eyesore everytime I see one...what a huge blunder by giants, everything else is amazing but this 1 simple thing has caused me to completely abandon silverrun so I don't even have to think about those damned trees...
Timestamp 26:37, lol well you'll have no choice but to clear out more redwoods if you want some of the northern lands which are amazingly beautiful, pretty much everything north of old sawmill and west has redwoods that'll have to be removed if wanting to buy the land and form it into something that fits your needs, I highly suggest using the tree devourer mod because it's quick and you can sell the wood chips to make a decent profit for your troubles so at least getting something back and the fact that they produce a little less chips than other pines means you can remove that much more from the land before having to unload the devourer, and for 25k base with 50k liter capacity it makes huge profits in the end, its my goto piece of forestry equipment for any land clearing job I do, especially removing all the pesky little trees that don't net much wood, can remove tons of those too and save all the 25m and taller trees for harvester and old sawmill, this is also necessary to do on this map because there are so many trees that you'll find if you try replanting that frames will drop drastically and lagging will happen so it's absolutely prudent to remove all small foliage as you can because they count as trees, anything that can be cut or devoured/mulched...
Those big redwoods have a diametre of over 3m where the tree harvester can go up to 1.2m. There is also a modded sawmill on Kingmods that can make all the platinum sawmill products. There is an error on the naming but works fine.
What kind of signal do you think Giants would be sending if you got loads of wood and money from cutting down giant sequoia trees which are protected from being cut down in real life? They did it on purpose so you don’t want to bother with them, meaning the function is there to cut and delimb like all the other trees but it won’t be profitable in any way.
It's just sloppy work on their end. They are the most profitable tree if you own the production and are not trying to 'sell' wood. Owned productions just convert raw volume so the optimal play is to not even delimb. You feed them the largest raw chunks of tree you can move. The same is also true for woodchipping which works off volume, a chipped redwood is worth far more than redwood lumber of any length

That lowloader also extends in width with your mouse.
Just remember you have to widen the ramps first

Hey, I hear there is some modders. That are working on a machine. To take down the redwoods tree. 😋
Not sure if your aware Peanut, those Autoload log trailers have been updated, now they dont slide when loaded.
12:21 what is that mod?
👏
Yeah hopefully giants gets a patch to get it's equipment from sliding
Year later still ain’t happened
Yeah, unless there are mods for equipments to handle seqoiua trees, it is pain to work

gonna cut them down and put a doghouse there
