You are young and have the right idea. I am 57 and live on $850 a month, I live with my fur ball pup (husband deceased). I don't have cable, never did, no cell phone just home phone, house and car paid off. I love thrift shopping, but I don't accumulate clutter. It gives me plenty of TIME with my family, friends, pup , and activities.

Cellphones are much cheaper nowadays! *Since you live alone it might be worth the small investment:* can buy one outright for $100-200. Phone plans start at $25/mo to $55 for unlimited. *The phone is gives you peace of mind* if something happens & you're alone/unable to get to the home phone. Look at it as a TOOL, NOT A LUXURY. Well done on your lifestyle though! ❤👍❤

You could buy a little inside antenna for a out $20, and get Free TV several stations. If you live far from town you may need one outside for about $50 a one time buy. Also, Some cell phones are cheaper than a home phone and you can. take it with you while away from home for emergencies ,.

I keep thinking about selling my house & just fixing up a shed that I have, but after doing the math & looking a property prices I don't think it would be worth it. My current mortgage is $680 on 10 acres with a 3/2 mobile home & fruit trees, small pond & peace & quiet. 5 acres without anything will run me about $450/ month & I would need to install a well, etc. So think I will stay put. Glad you got to do something that works well for you. I should just finish out my shed & just use the mobile home for when the kids come out. That would save me on utilities. Either way I'm always glad to see people getting to live the life they want.

I loved your video. Most people dont get it. I know you probably said what you said to simplify it. But the cost of cable TV in hours or anything else that is not basic food and shelter is much higher. If your mandatory living bills are $500 per month and you make $1000 per month 40 hours per week after taxes than your discretionary income for cable or eating out is $500. $100 of spare cash for cable costs 30 hours of your work. I know Its is difficult to explain to people in person, so its really hard to do in a video. I think you are great and wish more people were like you.

Way to go. I am also a single father who homeschools and builds off grid. I currently use no money. Money is for chumps. (This is my motto) I barter for most of my lifestyle. It is difficult but I am home with my children every day. We learn new things every day.

Your on the right track, sister. It's a long haul, but the end result is worth it. What are our goals? Debt? Wants or needs? Am I living below my means? My journey has been long & hard...but sooo worth it. I have NO debt. My house & car are paid for. I have $aving$, cd$, completed Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University, have inve$tment$ & am in day 3 of my retirement. Life is great!!! You'll get there...keep on keeping on.

I just love the idea of living the way where your bills could be reduced that much. Are you going to get or build the small house? How big of a land do you want to get? We are saving money like crazy, and I am not ashamed to show some ideas and ways I do it in my videos, because it can help some people to reduce their bills. Can't wait to see your jorney, how you will live with low expenses.

Our health insurance is $890/month for a family of four and it's an HSA eligible plan. It kills our budget.

Ours is the same and that's why we don't have any insurance . We can't afford it . We would be homeless or without food if we paid it

Do you go without health insurance? Or live somewhere that has public health? I find that paying private health is a big expense for us but we need it for the dental coverage.

+skyeali1 Fortunately, right now we do not have to worry about health insurance costs. My children are covered under a state insurance plan, which includes dental and vision.

+Bonnie gill It also means that as a society we value children's health regardless of circumstance and because we helped them when they were young to remain healthy, they will be strong enough to work and pay taxes so that when you are old and need assistance in the form of social security and Medicare, the taxes they pay will be paying for you!

Great video! Thanks for posting. Since you homeschool the kids, I take it you're home all the time and work from your home? I assume you're not having to pay for childcare? I love how you brought up about time spent working for the money that you are spending towards an item or service. I've done the very same and it really gives you a whole different perspective on how you spend. I'm a professional organizer and I teach people how to live simply and with less. My budget is not much higher than yours and I'm a single person. No kids. I live in Nova Scotia and everything here is considerably higher priced. I buy dry food in bulk, (dried beans, rice, pasta etc) and dry can. I also use a pressure cooker a lot. It cooks faster which saves on power. Again, thanks for your video. I subscribed.

Nice! How did you get started with professional organizing? If you don’t mind me asking. I am currently taking an online course for it 😊

@@graceharvest3096 Hi, I've always been super organized anyway and a spend thrift big time. I just started up a small one person business locally out of my home. I got insurance for myself and printed up some flyers and started handing them out at the local stores and who ever would take them. I built a website for the business and had some business cards printed up. I started getting some calls and got some jobs and the word got around and it just went from there. I also took gift bags to each job filled with things like fun timers, small pens and small writing pads and other things that can be used in the home. Being just one person I stayed away from hoarding jobs and I finally had to give up the business when my knee went out but I was old enough to retire by then anyway.
