Frederick Fleet went through pure hell throughout his life. Not only did he survive the most famous shipwreck in history. He also carried the guilt of feeling as though he was partially to blame for the tragedy. It doesn’t stop there, he also fought in the 2 deadliest wars in human history.. only to have his wife leave him and lose his home. His life was a real tragedy. Rest in Peace Frederick Fleet.

Mr. Fleet, was suffering from PTSD, b4 anyone knew what that was. The sinking of the Titanic alone, could've caused the depression, without 2 world wars! Then late in life, he gets evicted from his home. That was simply heartless. Jesus.

But she'd never say a word, one day we passed and a guy was mowing her front yard. We stopped to talk , he was her son, he said she was on the Titanic at age 9, she watched her dad, and brothers go down with the ship. She never spoke again.

Until it was safe to proceed , and the visibility had improved, period! End of story!!! This tragic accident did not have to happen. Also if Frederick was born in 1887 then he was 52-53 when WW2 started. Not saying that he didn’t serve but if he did it was likely in some sort of rear role or home based role.

Interesting thing is they have determined now that the iceberg had nothing to do with the actual sinking what caused the problem was an overheated area where the cold was kept to run the ship that there was an out of control fire in that particular compartment since before they left harbor. It's pretty well been established now that that's what caused the the sinking and the explode there was an explosion in there.

I can't believe that on such an important ship with thousands of people on board, that they didn't have basic equipment to look out for icebergs. I mean they spared no expense to create luxury and opulence which is fine. But why couldn't they have provided the lookout staff with a powerful spot light and binoculars or a telescope. The ship's generators could have easily powered a large fresno lensed spot light affixed on a large tripod for scanning. The light could have been as powerful as a lighthouse light. That size of light could have been easy to power with the ship's powerful generators.

Binos would not be of any use. Icebergs are black on a black night. My Great Uncle was a ships captain and did that route often The only warning is the smell and any waves breaking around the base. Binos require light to work as they reduce depth of vision at night. The Frederick Fleet statement was to the Americzn inquiry where he was asked a yes or no answer without expanding the answer and under pressure.

It was a dark, still moonless night. You need light to be able to see out of binoculars, if they of used them that night they would’ve seen less not more.
Also everyone on Titanic was going through a mirage affect so things looked further than they actually were.
Travelling from the warm gulf to the freezing Atlantic caused the temperatures to rapidly change
