THANKS! I needed this - so simple and to the point! I wanted to add that mastering this app can be tricky! Without zooming in (ENOUGH) to control the details, it can be frustrating! I wanted to destroy my iPad! But once you learn to zoom in correctly, it's super fun and almost free! Thanks for the tip, it's a game-changer for me!
This was extremely useful not just for Procreate Dreams but also for illustrators new to animating and may have heard of rigging but aren't too familiar with it yet. This is the perfect synergy of app and technique breakdown! I really, really appreciate the way you explained it! Thank you!
You sir have earned yourself a sub. Video is a good length that’s filled with so much clear info. I already can visualize all that you are telling me as you demonstrate the hierarchy of the layers. Honestly you shown us more than some creators has done so far. I’m looking forward to view more of your videos.
This tutorial is one of the easiest to understand. I have gone through several tutorials where artists lost themselves in intricate details and lost their grip on the tool. Hope you have more tutorials, is it me or Dreams is really more complicated?
Glad it was helpful! Concerning Dreams being complicated, it is hard of me to say. I'm used to a mouse and keyboard workflow (Blender, Toon Boom Harmony, etc.). Working on an iPad for me is complicated to start with because it feels so different from my normal process. Also, I haven't extensively tried other animation programs on the iPad (Callipeg, ToonSquid, etc.), so I don't know if those are easier than Dreams. Hopefully, I'll be able to try those other options in the future. Thanks for watching!
David, you are brilliant! This is so awesome and makes the movement look so much smoother. I had to giggle when you said you were just doing a quick draw. Your fast sketch of the arm and hand looks better than the hand I spend time trying to draw. Anyway, thank you sooooo…. Much! ❤
Thanks for the great comment and for watching! Hopefully, Procreate Dreams will add shape tools to the program. When that happens, creating simple rigs like this will be much easier because you will be able to line up the circles around the joints to create rotations much smoother than this one. Concerning the "quick" drawing, I did cut out some of the drawing mistakes to shorten the video, so it probably wasn't as quick as it seemed. :)
@@davidpikedesigns without drawing in Procreate I can’t draw a circle. It’s so frustrating . They spoiled us with some of the tools and features in Procreate. Fingers crossed, we’ll see some of those in Procreate Dreams. It will make Procreate Dreams so much more user friendly. Especially for those of us who are new to digital art.
Oh and the keyframes you make for the movements of 1 character.. can you copy and paste the all at once for another character? or do you have to do them all over again for the next character? (They the same character just diferent color)
I put together a simple animation to test this out, and I couldn't see a way to copy and paste keyframes from one track to another. I think that would be a great option to have, but with the slow development of Procreate Dreams, I wouldn't expect it anytime soon.
Can i change the color from the character after i made the whole movement of the character? After i did a movement from 1second and than i duplicated it until 10seconds (running animation) than i want change colors of the character but i cant find it anywhere..😢
To my knowledge, you can't do that in Procreate Dreams yet. I checked the manual to confirm. It doesn't offer extensive color palette options like other animations programs, such as Toon Boom Harmony or Blender.
@@davidpikedesigns oh okay, no worries, thanks for taking the time to answer back brother! I wanne make stickman animations, what app is the best for that would you say? For fast work, and little learning curve, and most effecient work 🫡😃
If you can work on a PC or Mac instead of an iPad, I would say Moho is the best option. In my opinion, it offers the best functionality to price ratio. Also, they have a very extensive training course for free on UA-cam. I've been using Toon Boom Harmony, but it is expensive, and I've considered transitioning to Moho. They show some really great animations on their channel.
I have tried, but I'm not certain it is ready for a process that complex, especially if you've used Moho or Harmony in the past. It is possible, but I think it is a bit limited without additional functionality, such as deformers. I think it will improve, but I would probably stick to simple rigs at this point. Thanks for watching!
Amazing video! Clarifies a lot I needed help with. If possible can you do a video for eyes and eyelids for blinking? I’m so struggling with that one I think that’s the last jump
Glad it was helpful! Great suggestion. I'll try to make the eye blink video soon. I can think of three different ways to create one in Procreate Dreams. Thanks for watching!
great video! big help for me who just started in procreate dreams. If i may ask do you have some problems when using the undo button more than 3 times? it will erase a big portion of what i draw.. sometime all of my drawing.
Glad it was helpful! Concerning the undo issues, yes, I've had problems, and I've read in Facebook groups about other people having similar issues. Hopefully, it is something they can correct in the future. Thanks for watching!
In the latest version of Procreate Dreams (1.0.9), they have included some changes to the undo/redo functionality: • In Movie Settings -> Preferences you can now choose to have permanent Undo and Redo buttons on your Stage. • You can also disable undo and redo tap and hold gestures. • The default timing for Rapid Undo has been slowed down, but you can also adjust this in Movie Settings -> Preferences.
Hi is it no possible to make it so that the arm flex like a "garden hose" instead than seeing the arm joints flexing like layers of paper? Thanks for your attention I will be very grateful for your reply
@@davidpikedesigns thanks a lot for your suggestions David. Are all those apps available only on PC/Mac is it correct? There are no iPad apps capable of this kind of rigging?
Thanks for watching! If your bounding box is much larger than the drawing, you probably have a stray mark somewhere on the screen. The bounding box will extend out to include any strokes. Hope that helps!
The bounding box cannot be resized once the first bounding box has been formed for a group. It is intrinsically linked to the group . But thanks for your help. Your video is very helpful where there was no other .
Unfortunately, not at the moment. I don't know about iPad options for bones, but for animation in general, you can use Moho, Toon Boom Harmony, or Blender Grease Pencil. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
Yes, it can be more work. Having also used Toon Boom Harmony to create rigs, sometimes it is just faster to draw the poses than rig a puppet. My animations do look much cleaner when rigged because my line drawings aren't very smooth. Thanks for watching!
When Savage interactive fixes the track backdrop colors or contrast, it will be one less headache. It's often mentioned on the Forum for Procreate Dreams.
Yes, I think Procreate Dreams is currently better for frame by frame, but if you need to automate very simple movements, it is possible in Dreams. For complete rigging, other programs are better suited for it. Thanks for watching!

Very simple and straight forward. Thank you! You should create your own procreate dreams course, that will be awesome!

Practice. Lots and lots of practice. :)
The tracks are hard to see with your black background format
