    Was in the 10th during the early 1960's. One of the men who discovered an abandoned 105mm gun behind the beach while loading our equipment onto an LST in Vieques PR that I trust still sits on the lawn of Regimental Hq. Semper Fi.

    6 great years in Arty, on the 105, 55 pig, 9er 8, and the M109. even ran a 75 pack howitzer for special events. i didnt realize there were WMs in the 08 field now. looking back on the many days in the field in very close quarters i wonder how that works.

      I think its funny because there are no females in Marine artillery yet. We did a crossover program to see how they do, and a few passed the school, but they weren't put into a battalion.

      I was there Jan - Mar of 1987. Only a couple of weeks after I got there I went home on emergency leave as my grandfather had died on his birthday and 47th wedding anniversary.

      join the air force and become a mechanic or healthcare worker so you can get a job in the real world

    • @david-ij9kn
      @david-ij9kn 6 років тому +1

      Mike Hascats you dont need that to get a good job in the civilian world. just being a marine already helps you while applying for a job. it separates you from others because you have that marine corps discipline and they can train or teach you to do that job you’re applying for.
      p.s. the chair force is gay af

      david, totally incorrect. i was field artillery. that gave me zero skills for the real world. it is much better to be a mechanic, or medical worker, or electrician, or plumber, etc

    Can you wear hearing protection? And is the hearing protection advanced these days?

    • @CowpokeCannoneer
      @CowpokeCannoneer 6 років тому +2

      Michael Gutierrez we wear hearing protection most of the time. But sometimes we don't because we need to hear what our section chief is saying. Hearing protection is pretty advanced but we don't get issued it. I'm already pretty deaf and I'm only 20. It's just part of the job.

    This is the MOS I want to enlist for when I turn 18. Can anyone tell me how is the daily life of an 0811 Marine? Also how good is this MOS the USMC makes it out to be?

      As an 0811, this life is not for most people. It very stressful and labor intensive, but rewarding in its own way. As a combat MOS you can be deployed to a combat zone to provide fire for infantry units. They dont call us the "King of Battle" for nothing. We're a vital role on the battlefield, all weather capable and ready to send rounds down range all day and night.
