I was wandering around downtown Prague in May 2006 and saw a line at the concert hall. It happened to be the free daytime open rehearsal for this concert. As a horn player it was such a surprise and delight to hear this performance. I would not have been able to afford the concert as a student so appreciated the opportunity. Thank you for posting this clip!
Played from 10 to 22 years old. Played thru college as performance major. Baborak: Tone - few as good, none better Intonation - accurate without question. Attacks and releases - has the finese to match the strings as he and they trade melody and the chops to sing with the trumpets Interpretation - WOW! What an amazing player.
@@chrisdstard5644 thank you for the comment Chris. I had never heard Brain and know nothing about him. Yes, this recording of Mozart No. 1 Horn is very good. Wow what subtle phrasing and his top end is as good as I have heard.
Thanks for taking time to listen Dale, it sounds like you know your horn! His untimely death at just 36 probably accounts for your not having heard of him before, but his entry on Wiki is impressive, and worthy of note to an enthusiast.
@@chrisdstard5644 I realised I HAD heard him. In 1975(?) in 9th grade I played #4 rondo, solo and ensamble contest (went to state but did not get a one that year) and I remembered I had a vinyl that i copied to cassette. But what made me remember is his sound (tone and accuracy of pitch). It's amazing to me how different the sound he got compared to baborak. Fun listening again after so long.
Technical brilliance and SUBLIME interpretation performed by R. Baborák! The Horn Concerto tempo gives vividness, therefore, the melody sounds delightful!
In my fantasy there's no interpretation. It's as Mozart wrote it, and as un-interfered with as it can be - just played, as written, by dedicated, selfless musicians. And so it comes from the heavens to our ears. Anyway (shaking myself)... it's beautiful and I'm so relieved it's here. And genuine thanks for putting the technical explanation :-)))))))

@@HelenaWilliams8696 Not that I know enough about music, but here it is, and it's so welcome. You're right, there's plenty of variety and expressiveness in what he's playing, and in my head it's all one piece, like a stone with many sides. Maybe that's what sublime means. Dang, sorry, but Mozart and a few others get me that way. Imagine hearing that in your head for the first time, and writing it down and thinking "Thank you. They will love this." (And maybe "They will, won't they?")
Sempre uma alegria renovada em ouvir esse Horn Concerto nº 1 para trompa do gênio Mozart! Execução magnífica! Segue de Brasília a nossa gratidão pela postagem!
Need a CD with a classical track with French horn, suitable for a funeral... So pref slow paced... Maozart, Tchaikovsky or beethoven. Can not use UA-cam download.

There is no other sound like the French horn. It's my favorite.
It's simply the most superior instrument
My mom, Helen Marie Drake-Besola, played French horn. She was nurse U.S. Navy WWII Coco Solo,Panama.

@@chrisdstard5644 by the way have you heard Katy Woolley playing the Mozart quintet. She is possibly the best right now.
Bring Baborak back!!
Immer wieder gern zu hören !!

@@dionlindsay2 Thank you, Dion. The Horn tone and melody is melancholy, triumphant at certain intervals and yet sublime to the mind.
