This has been needed for a while. It's not really the usage between classes but during class, so now they wanna complain when they've been warned time and time again. This needs to be nationwide but there needs to be some kind of notification system in place to notify parents if something major takes place like gas leaks, active shooters etc.

It's not just teachers that can grant access! Parents, YOU are ultimately in control of how your child(ren) is treated in school. Write a note to the principle or just schedule a meeting with them, granting your child(ren) access to their phones and watches at all times. If you get push back, a quick visit with child(ren)'s pediatric doctor will get them a doctor's note so you can establish an IEP that can't be overruled by the district since it's federally protected.

This is a HORRIBLE idea!!! How many times have we heard of students calling for help during school shootings? Providing important information as to the location of the shooter as well as where the students are hiding at so they can be rescued. And of those who sadly don't make it, how many last time phone calls have we heard of students with their parents.
Removing cell phones from a school is a giant safety hazard and will result in needles loss of life and likely huge lawsuits.

That might prevent students to make fake threats on social media since the phones are banned. Schools typically have to block sites like Facebook to comply with CIPA (Children's internet protection act) since they are here to learn and make friends of possible. Someone said if you need to call your mom have you'll normally use the phone in the classroom.

It's all about class disruption. And now, those teachers and the rest of the other adults in those schools are going to learn that students do not need a device to disrupt class.
If the student is not interested in the lesson or whatever then they are going to go off task. Period.
