I light pass or two with a heat gun removes white stress marks completely. It's like magic. Just don't keep the heat focused on one area for too long. It would be perfect for that stress mark on the Kate McCray figure.
The Black Hole really was an excellent film! I find the film to be criminally underrated considering how cool the plot is. Just like you I was never able to get ahold of the figures growing up. I’d imagine that these toys aren’t very sought out but then again I could be wrong. Excellent restoration as usual and I always look forward to seeing your next video! Cheers!
Wonderful re-carding! For such tiny re-sculpting, might I suggest a silicone-tipped sculpting tool. They come in all sizes and would make your tiny sculpting much easier and smoother and more precise.
Thanks. I try to show you can get good results without the need for special tools as most people are repairing toys on a tight budget. And most of the time you can just use what you have. Cheers
I used to watch a progress called the Wood Right shop on PBS as a kid. I really enjoyed that program, your channel for whatever reason reminded me of that. Cheers!
I've reglued the bubbles to the cardbacks using Elmer's glue, popsicle sticks, and clamps, and everything looked decently legit. When I had to sell off my collection, I did let the buyers know that I resealed them.
Thanks Dave, another excellent production, keep 'em coming. I was hoping you would re-card some figures with these and you didn't disappoint, great job! I remember seeing this movie as a 10 year old in 1980, the ending gave me nightmares at the time. I never owned the figures but had the 12" plastic model kit of Maximillian.
I have the Dan Spiegle *Black Hole* comic books! It ran for only four issues in the States, but Europe and South America got the full six issues! The gang travel to an alternate universe, find themselves a new ship, *Palomino 2* , and even meet the alternate Old Bob! I guess they could always reverse Reinhardt's Course if they ever want to go back home.
I just started trying to get a set of the U.S. released Black Hole figures. I'm not going to even going to entertain the idea of finding Italian Unfindables S.T.A.R. Humanoid and Old b.o.b.
Hi, have you ever used MAGIC SCULPT? I now use it almost exclusively as it is easier to manipulate and it sends and wire Woolf's better in my mind. If you mix too much put the excess in the freezer which allows it to be used at a later time, ( but not indefinately). For superglue I use MITREFAST but my stuff is now larger scale. You buy it with an activater but you can also buy activato .
Really like your videos. I just got a non magnetic batman. He looks like the magnetic one but he is the fly away action one. Want know have a outfit that has the decal that I need. How 🤔 can I transfer it to his outfit and how do I make it stay. Thanks and hope u do a video on the 12inch mego some day.
Thumbs up. Wow, this was great. I love these kind of reparations. I dont know if you can get hold of milliput here in Sweden, so do you know if there is any other sort of clay that will work simular to milliput? I have a He-Man figure suffering from the same issue, broken thumbs. It would be nice to give him his dignety back befor but him in the monter 😁
Nice work. Never owned these toys as a child. I don't think the film was an amazing box office success in the UK. I only remember watching it on TV years later by which the toys were probably long discontinued.
True, The couple I had were from a bargain bin at my local newsagent in the early eighties, along with Buck Rogers and Star Trek motion picture figures..
I've been wondering if it would be possible to use the UV setting glue for thumbs rather than Milliput. Same pin based structure obviously but you might be able to save on the Milliput wasteage. I have no thumbless figures to try it on. Maybe someone who does, can, and test my theory...
It's VERY HARD to put a new o-ring in the original Cobra Commander/Red Laser figure. The o-rings are too thick and his arms can't really fit in it. I tried it to squeeze the front and back together and screw it back together. It will break. Do you have one to do on your channel? If not, I can donate one. I have some odds and sods for you anyway.
There's something so charming about the unpainted faces of the old Mego 3.75 inch figures. However, I could never understand what Disney were thinking when they made The Black Hole. It's a very slow, very dark movie, about a man who's gone mad in space and lobotomised a bunch of people. And as the cardback perfectly illustrates, the average age of the cast was something like 45. Sticking one big-eyed robot into a movie does not make it kid-friendly. I do like the film, but damn... did nobody suggest a couple of younger cast members? Maybe _slightly_ less dark? i tried ordering some repro cardbacks from Beggars Canyon Toys for some figures recently, but damn, are they ever slow and uncommunicative. Not really feeling very positive towards them right now.
Hi again, r. Somebody told me you can polish cards with washing up liquid but I'm not sure about that. Turps can remove label adhesive and meths gets rid of spirit based pen marks. I've also come across flexible superglue, possibly from Loctite, (expensive). Your features are great and I hope I'm not teaching you to suck eggs! This kind of stuff brings some sanity to the world!!!
That's what some people do on eBay that some people sell toys like that and they say their brand new there was actually a eBay seller that was selling knock-off Super Nintendo games and Sega Genesis games and NES games and they will knock off games they were reproduction and he was selling them like a full price saying that they were real games
Oh WOW! I love these figures still.
I'm thrilled to see these card backs got to get brought back from the dead. :)
Thanks again for sending them. I couldn't just leave them as is. Think they turned out great.

The re-carding looked great!
A small, wet paint brush might help with sculpting the Milliput.
Nice results! I still need to watch this film. I often see the toys, and love how they look like a cross between Kenner Star Wars & Mego Micronauts.

It seems rather fitting that you had to use a drill on Dr. Durant, in light of what happens to him in the movie!
Those cards turned out amazing....good work!!

@@toypolloi - Gotcha. Understood. 😊
You still did a great job!
Awesome tutorial as always, Dave!

Well done. Question, if kitchen towel is moved to a different room in an abode, does the name change to reflect its new location?
🌟The Tony Hart of the toy world 👍Truly talented..🖌️✍️👍🌟👍🚀🌟

Is that Vincent stand original? I only ask because mine is made of clear plastic.
No, it's a reproduction in black.
I’m new to painting figures. A group I’m subscribed to says my paint is too thick. Any suggestions?
Without seeing your painted figures I can't say. Contact me via any of the social media links in my banner and send some photos of your work. Cheers
What is the title of the song that plays at 9:28?
Jeremy Blake, let’s go home

Encased in plastic again forever more.

Over here in the US, it says the acid free bookbinding type is PVA glue, not EVA. Odd, isn't it?
Very odd. But now I know. And that's half the battle! Cheers
No body respects old bob .
# old bob the robot hero .
