Hi Dolly ma'am Great to see you draping the traditional wear from Assam. Just to tell you that the pleats of mekhela is given opposite to that of a saree. That is, the pleats head towards right side. Hope you do not mind for correcting you. Lots of hugs and love from Assam❤️❤️
Hello.. wonderful attempt to drape the mekhela chaddor. Indeed a very helpful videos for all the non-Assamese people who wants to wear it but could never figure out how. Only thing is that the pleats in the mekhela is opposite to the saree ie it is done towards the right so that the chaddor when tucked in the cone shape falls separately and looks neat.
Hello Maam, you look beautiful in Mekhela Chador.. please dont mind me pointing out a minor mistake. unlike the saree pleats, the mekhela pleats should be facing to our right. maybe maam u have found a bit discomfort in tucking the chador pleats as well in walking due to this reason... pleating in the wrong directions create a bit of messiness while walking.. sorrg for pointing out. i hope u wont mind...😍😍
You look very elegant ma'am. Just a tiny mistake wearing the mekhela. The pleats should be on the right not left. Usually when we wear saree we make it on the left. But for mekhela sador it is done on the opposite.
Loved first two drapes .. my mom got for me from Her trip to Assam … I live out of India, so waiting to get it in parcel someday .. Can you make Some Videos Of pairing blouses with such sarees
Mam thanks a ton , you really don't know how much this video is helpful for me . I m Rajasthani girl going to marry with a Assam guy . And as you told definitely Rajasthani and Assame go well hand in hand . Thanks again.
No. Assamese attire only goes well with Assamese jewellery not with other jewellery. if someone husband/wife is from Assam it don't mean they are Assamese. Assam has many ethnic communities in it and Assamese is one of the many communities. A people is Assamese only if he/she is born in a Assamese ethnic community. I hope you know the meaning of ethnicity.
Hello Dolly mam, thanks for the video..... I'm very slim so the dupatta of Mekhala cheddar is very long for me..... How can wear assam saree with fushion of bengali saree...... Waiting for ur reply.... Thanks in advance
Hello mam...you are an amazing artist..mam could you please make some videos for wearing "pallu" wali saree in traditional type...nd also about wearing lehenga's dupatta with pallu tucked up....thankew...😊😊
Ma’am You have draped it beautifully but I noticed the pleats of mekhela are facing left whereas they are supposed to face right while wearing an Assamese mekhela.
Thanks much, Dolly ji. One of my close friends from Assam had gifted me a lovely mekhala-chador set. Though I drape it reasonably well, now I can do it with more confidence. And I liked the last variation that you showed.
Bengali??? Bengali????? Sis, mekhela sadder is Assamese traditional dress not of Bengalis. Assamese and Bengali are two different ethnic communities, you people are really so disrespectful. Are Gujarati and Rajasthani same? are all Rajasthani are Marwaris? DON'T WEAR OUR MEKHELA SADOR IF YOU CAN'T EVEN RESPECT THE COMMUNITY. People like you wearing our traditional attire is like a disgrace and disrespect to our community. And lastly DON'T CALL OUR ATIRE AS SAREE, IT'S "MEKHELA SADOR", it's not just a piece of cloth, it's a integral part of our ethnical community, so call it by what the indigenous people call it (i.e mekhela sadder).
Loved to see you wearing our traditional mekhela chadar..and again pls try out our mekhela sador in more different ways but keeping in mind the basic traditional style..we would love to experience your creative ideas more and more.thanks
This was really nice, loved the saree and loved the style. Pls showcase sarees of different region/states since you have so much experience and knowledge of them. In fact you can do a different series altogether 🙃, show us the saree up close to give more details, tell us a little history about the origin, places where we can buy them. Hope to explore more such gorgeous sarees in your videos. Lots of love, Shilpa from Chhattisgarh 😊
Apne Pura perfect Kia but... Thr is difference between saree pleat... The pleat in the mekhela wil be in opposite directions so that pleat can be seen... Refering to first style... My mum is Assamese n m from Assam.. plz don't mind for my suggestion
*May I make a suggestion* - Can you use the classical handloom designs - cotton - for showing us your drapes - may be the dhanikahali / khesh cotton of bengal or the sungudi sarees of TN or the gadwals or ghollabhama sarees of Andhra? May be your expertise in draping the different drapes will give a new definition to these classical sarees that have survived since generations. Will you ? Thank You - The mekhala chador is such a great alternative to the 5 yard. The Kerala set mundu deserves your attention. It will be interesting to see you drape them. we are fans of the kota doria of Rajasthan - a magical way to beat the heat.
Amazing it really worked. But I have a request too. Plzz drape a saree on plain royal blue frilled layered skirt of silk fabric. For medium size. Please it a request.
