Nice old bike that 650 Yamaha, amazing it started so readily after all those years, sounds lovely, definitely worth some more tlc. I had similar problems with petrol tap leaking when getting my old 1200 Suzuki Bandit back on the road after standing for several years and unfortunately my CV carbs needed stripping and cleaning as well as they were flooding. My petrol tap needed new seals and also the petrol tap filter was perished, I noticed both petrol tap filters missing on your Yamaha, definitely help keeping sand / rust out of carbs. Modern petrol left in carbs gums them up so I drain bowls if it will be standing more than a few months. You were not wrong with weather forecast, it was indeed a wet one, sounded pretty heavy as well, nice to see some Australian wildlife too.
Hey mate. Yeah curse this modern fuel. It does have two small inline fuel filters hidden between the carbs - stealth like. I certainly don't need crap getting through to those needle and seats.
