Zoom Am7 on iPhone 15 Pro - Sound Test

- I used to use the Zoom iQ7 on the iPhone. With the iPhone 15 and USB-C that only worked with an adapter.
I found no information whether the Zoom Am7 would work on an iPhone 15, which I tested here.
Next to the superior sound compared to the iPhone microphones, there is a big advantage using the Zoom Am7: When you zoom on the iPhone, it changes the stereo spectrum to mono. With the Zoom Am7 it doesn't, it stays in stereo.
I did not bring the windscreen noise protection, hence some noise is audible. I've chosen a location with sound from all sides to clearly hear the stereo spectrum.

If you want to record audio only, I recommend this app: apps.apple.com... - Auphonic recorder. It records in Stereo with the AM7. And it's a free app, and no in-app purchases.

There's a clear difference in stereo field and detail - just ordered one.
İn old “zoom” devices on iphone such as 11&12 , direct monitor option can be on, but usb C version of this, we can not activate the direct monitor button in settings.. very ridiculous

Thank you Michael … BUT, unfortunately, my Am7 with USB C plugged to iPhone 15 ProMax only delivers mono on the HandyRec app !! I think the problem is the app !! I tested the Am7 with video on iPhone and it seems that it delivers stereo, when the iPhone mic is only mono !! I also tested with the MacBookPro and QuickTime Player (new audio recording), and it is stereo !!
oh. You're right. The HandyRec displays Mono. And a recording test is mono indeed. Hope they update their app. The iPhone Camera though is in Stereo. By the way, I tested it on a DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and it works as well, just a bit clumsy

İt works with 15pro.. BUT…… on earphone there is a huge latency problem.. did you solve it ? ı use it for book reading / recording. When I hear my voice coming late, cant read :) ant solution for that ?? ( direct monitor is not supported on iphone15pro)
no solution for that. I would simply not use monitor earphones but just listen to what you read. But maybe I don't understand exactly what you are looking for
I used IQ7 with my 13 Pro Max, now when I switched to iPhone 15 Pro, I didn't know if AM7 will work. Thanks!
Btw, did you have to disable all the radio(airplane mode) too on you iPhone to avoid noise on IQ7?
And do you have to use airplane mode on usb-c version too?
yes, on the IQ7 and on the Am7, you must put the iPhone into airplane mode, otherwise you get a lot of noise
Thanks. I bought already AM7 as I'm ok with the phone being in airplane mode, it's my secondary phone for videography only. I'll get it tomorrow! :)

Does it work with iPhone 15 pro and pro max only? What about IPhone 15 or 15 plus? It also has the usb c but there are some differences with the speed of data transfer compared to the pro versions of the iPhone.

Hallo Michael, ich bin auf der Suche nach einem Mikro von Zoom. Habe ein H5, will aber zukünftig mit meinem iPhone 14 Pro meine Konzerte mitschneiden. Ich bin klassische Sängerin. @@martinanawrath3337 Hallo Martina. Das iPhone 14 hat ein Lightning Anschluss. Hier kannst du das Zoom iQ7 oder iQ6 verwenden. Habe es auch für mein iPhone 13 verwendet. Ich würde das iPhone auf ein Stativ montieren. Unbedingt Flugmodus bei der Aufnahme einschalten, sonst gibt es Störungen. Gruss, Michael

Vielen, vielen Dank für die Antwort. Jetzt wüsste ich noch gern, was der Unterschied zwischen den beiden Mikros ist. Ich hab schon so viele Videos dazu gesehen und hab es immer noch nicht richtig verstanden, um mich für eins zu entscheiden.
@@martinanawrath3337 wenn ich es richtig verstanden habe, nimmt das iQ6 in einem engeren Winkel auf, während das iQ7 in einem breiten Stereo Spektrum mit mehr Einstellungsmöglichkeiten aufnimmt. In meiner Band ist das iQ7 optimal weil wir im Kreis stehen und die Tonquellen von allen Seiten kommen

Wenn ich es also vor ein Orchester stelle, Chor hinter dem Orchester, mit den Solisten recht mittig? Und ich möchte gern die Solisten prägnant. Welches würdest du vorschlagen?
@ das ist wirklich schwierig zu beantworten. Würde sagen das iQ7 ist das flexibelste. Für wirklich gute Aufnahmen empfehle ich ein Tascsam Portacapture X6

Ich habe früher das MV88 von Shure mit meinem iPhone 12pro für Live-Musikaufnahmen verwendet. Mit der Video-App Pro Camera habe ich schöne Aufnahmen gemacht.
Könnte das Zoom auch mit dieser App (Pro Camera) funktionieren?

Du hast also den Zoom AM7 mit USB-C an ein iPhone 15 pro angeschlossen. Dieses Mikrofon ist für Android gedacht, richtig? Haben Sie also auch eine App mit ihm für IOS.
Zufälligerweise habe ich auch ein iPhone 15 pro und bin auf der Suche nach einem guten externen Stereomikrofon, um Live-Musik aufzunehmen.

Hallo Berend. Stimmt. Das Zoom Am7 am iPhone 15 Pro. Man braucht keine spezielle App. Für Video kann man die iPhone Kamera App verwenden. Für ausschliesslich Tonaufnahmen die 'HandyRec.' von Zoom. So wie es mit dem Zoom iq6 auf dem iPhone mit Lightning funktioniert hat, geht es jetzt mit dem Zoom Am7 auf dem iPhone 15.

Do you have to use the app for the mic? For me, on the app, I can't record at 4K 60FPS in HDR. Which is super lame
The clip is filmed using the iPhone camera app. Haven't tested it with other apps. But I assume you can set the iPhone camera app to 4K 60FPS HDR.
